- BCCI honourary secretary Jay Shah announced on Tuesday, 7 July that former India opener Gautam Gambhir has been named as the head coach of the Indian men's national team. IndiaToday.in had confirmed in May that Gambhir was expected to take over the team from Rahul Dravid, who left his role after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024. Back then sources had confirmed to the publication that Gambhir's announcement was a mere formality.

Knowing Gambhir, I am sure he will make a great combo with Rohit because though Gambhir was aggressive in his behaviour during his playing days but he is very similar to Rohit as both like to back every player as much as possible so the atmosphere is expected to be really good in the dressing room and now that Gambhir and Virat have shared some nice moments during recent IPL so I am sure that only good things can be expected.
