Hey Sean, I've had very good luck with my Menards rolling stock with just minor truck problems that were easily solved but Menards was a great investment for me. Thanks for posting this video.
Your review was great and that's a super layout you have. Nice to see these cars up close as I had debated buying them. Also, supposedly, the doors on the chopper slide open.
I'm still up in the air about Menards Rolling Stock. I've had problems with about half of what I've bought. I've only bought about 6 pieces. Just bought a Navy Helicopter Flatcar and when I opened the cardboard box I seen where one of the trucks was completed off the car. Luckily the screw and nut was still there and I got it put back together but the screw is pretty loose because when I tighten it then the trucks are too tight to turn. I'd rather just pay the extra money and get a Railking Car.
The couplers you have on those cars are more premier couplers. So their there high end coupler how ever no one knows what makes a car worth the good coupler or not worth it. I have 9 menards cars. 4 have good couplers and 3 dont. I haven't figured it out lol. Also sometimes i think that the loads for the cars are better than the car lol. The helicopter is super neat though.
I have some of menards Rolling stocks , so far everything is good, . The flat car with shell pipe truck arrives with the mirror loose. Easy to fix, I get lionel and mth with loose pieces too. Cesar
Dont have any menards in northeast states, but menards shipping is especially reasonable, 14 to $18,although they do charge for packaging . Luv their automobiles and bldgs
Thanks for a helpful video. I just visited Menards in St. Paul, MN to collect a couple of their 1:48 scale diecast Ford pick up trucks. Nice. I noticed a red and white VW bus on your layout. Is that diecast 1:48? Any suggestions on where I could find one for my layout? Thanks, Steve
Hey thank you for the review great job and great layout you mentioned changing the trucks I was always curious how you do that I have a few older Lyon L cars that I'd love to attempt that on any suggestion they seem like they're attached with rivets
I had two csx gondolas from Menards and the couplers wouldn't stay closed, returned them and the ones sent back to me had the same issue. I'm a bit apprehensive about buying rolling stock from them. The Menards buildings and structures are great though.
I had the same problem with a couple of Menards cars, not really a big deal for me since I don't do any switching. I used a small plastic cable tie to "lock" the couplers shut, no problems after that. Will I get more Menards cars? If it's something I like then sure I will. Can't beat the price at any rate.
I have sixteen Menards cars. I've had similar coupler problems and fixes. Some truck wheels were out of guage and wobbling. Never the less; good products for the easy to afford price.
Problem speaking about on Eric's Trains he had issues with wheels being tight one truck wheel on Box Cars wouldn't roll but fixed it with grease ran well not big issue simple fix but for price can't beat it . On ebay re-sale over priced what car or building worth from Menards . Love flat cars myself and mow on flats . Great price for new rolling stock .
Every has their own opinions on menards tubular track and rolling stock I iike the o gauge track it works and handles the engine and rolling stock just fine I bought a dealer box of box cars and only on boxcar was missing a wheel e mailed menards and the whole truck and wheels were replaced
It's hit and miss. You got lucky. Wheels not spinning freely seems to be the most common problem. Slop in the wheel spacing can cause the cars to be a bit jumpy going through switches as well. For the price a little fix er up is not a problem.! Great review.! 👍
@@gwilson61 Oil on the plastic trucks and with the metal ones as well first. after that you can inspect closely where it may be rubbing and slightly bend the metal. If that does not work I just replace them with Lionel Die Cast Trucks.! Atlas trucks may work as well but I have never used them. The good news is the newer Menards trucks have pretty good wheel spin. Good Luck and always have fun.! 👍😊
Why do people want to keep comparing 25 dollar Menard cars to $60 lionel cars? Of course they are lower quality cars but they are as good as what Williams, Kline and Lionel produced in the MPC era and are half the price or better then anything you can buy new today from the hobby shop.
This was a 40.00 car. and I was trying to see if they were close in quality and a better value than some Lionel ones which have gotten worse in quality.

Just picked up 2 of the Hershey tankers today.
I've been buy Lionel from Menard's the past few years, and haven't has any problems.
Thanks Sean, I like Menards rolling stock, even if sometimes you have to adjust the wheels. 👍
Those cars look great. I’ll eventually buy some Menards rolling stock. I have their Amtrak Station and I love it.
Hi Sean, great video. I enjoy all your videos they all are informative. Menards makes some nice stuff. Don’t have anything of there’s yet.
Nice cars.....the CG helo I believe is 1/48 scale. The other helo's offered appear to be 1/72.
I love that coastguard flatcar! I might actually order that

Thats true! Always depends on how they were mounted which changed over the years. For Rivets they have to be drilled out.

Great looking cars. They are very affordable and great quality.
I have a box car and I'm going to make my layout with Menards track and buildings and probably will buy the Santa Fe engine when It re realses
Most all Menard cars are $17 or so but if there more like weathered cars wld be $24 ,or so
Awesome menard's flatcars Sean!!!
There is a tie down for rotors it is usually red nylon strap
Didn't come with anything except the giant plastic tie you saw when I unboxed it.
@@seanstraindepot I am sorry, I meant that is what they use on real helicopters.

For $39 that’s a great deal on any full size cars

Super flat cars with loads. Always my favorites especially the military loads. Thanks for video. Did you get my email?
Unfortunately I dont get such things in India, if I can anyone please let me know. I WOULD love to have those.
We're did you get your semi trailer stacker cars from?
Are you talking about the Intermodal cars? What timestamp in the video did you see them?
@@seanstraindepot yes that is what I am talking about. There was two cars right next to each other.
@@jennifer9947 That's a Maersk Maxi Stack Intermodal Container Car. Lionel made it years ago. Product number 6-36935 - Maxi Stack.

These flatcars are missing brake wheels!
