    Why does it feel like you ALWAYS have to repeat everything for 911 operators? Are their call centers so noisy they can't hear; or are they just not paying attention? Caller: "My neighbor has been shot." Operator: "Someone's been shot?" Caller: "Yes, my neighbor was shot." Operator: "You've been shot?" Caller: "No, my neighbor was shot." Operator: "Is anyone hurt?"

      +Tracy Walker That's understandable, but if you're
      about to die,your car's about to crash or there's a
      gun pointing at you,there's no time to slow down
      and explain the situation... The worst one I ever
      listened to,was a young child who called emergency
      services as her parents were dead in the living room
      and she'd been alone in the house all night.
      Can you imagine what " real life" horror she lived

    for the people thinking the girl at number #2 was suspicious and she might've been part of the murders, she didn't even know her mum was dead in the other room, she assumed her mum was out, therefore it's highly unlikely she was involved in any of it. it sounds like she was in a state of shock, there have been similar situations to this, and the victims of it had acted a similar way, this is due to shock and the brain troubling / refusing to process it

      +white kush omg her mum was dead :'(

    • @LauraBidingCitizen
      @LauraBidingCitizen 8 лет назад +27

      That's exactly why I'm not responding to comments that instantly presume she was 'to blame' for the mass murders. She didn't sound guilty to me, more numb / distant to the entire situation that had just been put before her. Not one of us can say how we would have reacted in such a traumatic event unless we'd been in that position - she had been held hostage for many hours, watched / heard the death of her boyfriend, as well as being beaten, mentally & emotionally tortured only to watch her ex commit suicide - she was likely more in the mindset of getting help & wanting her parents.
      Adrenaline must have been pumping, similar to the fight or flight saying. The shock would have hit her system like a gutter punch within hours or days, poor girl. Most especially after learning her mother had been killed too x

      As a person that has experienced tragic things, unbearable situations, I go into survival mode while extremely numb. I try to figure out the smartest and safest thing to do yet in a fog. I think since I know panicking can make things worst I try to remain present. I’m absolutely numb, confused but weird, at times I can’t think at all like in a daze. I’ve been told it’s shock by professionals but people that are not or haven’t experienced repeated trauma or any horrendous are extremely quick to judge and are very hurtful and harsh. I had a loved one die in my arms, it hurt so bad that there wasn’t enough pain in the world that could be physically and emotionally felt, it was an out of body experience, everything went mute, my heart was dead, I could not cry or make a sound, I just held them and looked them. Essentially I believe we weren’t made for such loss, therefore there is no one correct way to react, everyone is simply different and unique. And this type of shock, let me tell you can last a very very long time.

    The last woman was kind of a badass... She defended herself against 2 invaders when she had a handgun. She is actually really cool. She took the bullet to the leg like a boss. She handled the situation very well, but she was also slowly breaking down. Her leg wasn’t as hurt as it would have been if she didn’t have the adrenaline rushing threw her body. As soon as that adrenaline wears off, she will be able to fully grasp the situation. Her leg will feel like it’s been shot, instead of it feeling like a sting, she will understand what actually happened to her family, she will understand sadness. She is a powerful role model who most of us could learn from. She is a badass.

      She was in shock. I walked into my house when I was 15 to find my sister and mom dead, and my dad waiting for me to come home. He shot me in the back, and then shot himself. It was so incomprehensibly horrible that my brain thought the best course of action would be to laugh/cry hysterically, then break into more laughing fits, then calm down and be completely neutral. After the neutral kicked in, I was in denial until after their funerals. A lot of people thought I was involved, too, because of my behaviour, but the human brain evolved to protect itself. If something awful happens, it immediately shuts itself down for a bit to prevent any immediate psychological harm, and begins the cycle of coping and grieving a few hours/days afterwards.

      Pamela Chitwood I don't think so, it would be incredibly difficult to do so and to this day get away with it unless she killed herself. Remember if you're ever in a situation like hers you have no idea how to react. Some people stay calm out of disbelief, anger or are still processing others may be extremely distressed or aggressive. I remember when both my grandparents died when I first found out I was completely calm for the first day until I processed they were dead. So you can never accuse someone of murder just because they are calm.

    Those last two seem strange and a little suspicious. I know shock affects everyone differently but just one thing Ms Staperfene says, "they're all dead" and not "they're both dead". Her phrasing is unusual too - "...are the victims", "...a murder/suicide".
    The last one only really starts crying when her leg is "killing" her. She says she's disorientated, woken from sleep yet the killers got two head shots to her husband and daughter and only managed to hit her in the leg.
    Ah, maybe it's just me :/

    • @DarkestDesires
      @DarkestDesires  9 лет назад +10

      +Amy TiH I can assure the authenticity of all of these calls, the third ones phrasing is indeed a bit out of the ordinary my guess is she was trying to relay the information to the dispatcher in as organised and quick manner as possible as she wanted to stop thinking about the incident. It also occurred to me that she had been held captive for a long time and had the time to process that her boyfriend was dead so that could have also affected her. The report on the last one is that the husband was at the door when they pulled a gun so the shot wouldn't have required a ton of accuracy, in addition the young girl probably did not put up much of a fight, I think the main reason she was only hit in the leg is that she was woken up by the gunshots and had the time to get a firearm herself and during the firefight where i can only assume the attackers were trying to avoid getting shot she most likely got hit somewhere non vital in the leg. I appreciate your feedback though and if you're interested in these stories feel free to do a google search on them to read more!

    Why is the 911 caller asking so many questions about the murder suicide? She is a dispatcher; her job is to dispatch the police, and they are to investigate.

    • @strider9184
      @strider9184 7 лет назад +9

      I think they send the police immediately and from there on there job is to gather as much info as they can and keep the person on the line. Although i never hear them ask for an address; i wonder if they track where the the call is coming from straight away in America because in Australia the first thing they ask is for an address

    • @GodGunsGutsandNRA
      @GodGunsGutsandNRA 7 лет назад +2

      Shalewa fawehinmi It used to be easy to pinpoint the address, but now with most people using cellphones they have to ask the address first. The dispatcher's job is to get the basic info, and then try to get the person on the phone to a safe place. The "interrogation" by the dispatcher jousts accelerates the fear. All they need to ask is how many intruders, are they armed, and are they still there.

    • @mattcastg5170
      @mattcastg5170 7 лет назад +6

      They're relaying information to the responding police, this is standard procedure when responding to an active crime scene where violence has occurred. They want police to know who is there, where they are, where the weapons are, if they should be concerned about entering a home or room or whatever and facing a hostile armed person, etc. it enables a more controlled situation when they arrive.
      A secondary reason of course, it's to get details on the record quickly for any future investigation and trial.

    • @mattcastg5170
      @mattcastg5170 7 лет назад +4

      +Strider 91 in the US I believe all local 911 systems are required by federal law to immediately track the address of all land line calls (the address shows up almost immediately on their computer screen.. I had a cousin who pranked called 911 as a little kid, being incredibly stupid ,and quickly hung up, 10 minutes later police came knocking on our door to make sure everything was fine and upon confirmation it was a prank to lecture my cousin on the dangers of pranking 911). Regions often will still have the operator verify the address however.
      In contemporary times though 911 gets more calls from non land line, mobile systems and here it's a lot more complicated. The FCC (the national agency that has oversight over the issue and is tasked with setting standards for local systems to follow, to enable a more cohesive nationwide system) has been working on the mobile phone issue over the last few years and have set up a series of regulations, being gradually phased in..

    • @mattcastg5170
      @mattcastg5170 7 лет назад +2

      +Strider 91.. the first big problem with mobile phone systems is a person could be calling from anywhere, but their phone is connected to their local 911 system that serves the area code of that phone (for instance I have a Los Angeles area code as I live in LA, I go on a trip to New York City and need to call 911, I'm connected to the 911 system for Los Angeles County and the surrounding region, being as I'm calling from an LA area code even though I'm actually 2,000 miles away). So the FCC's first priority has been to have cell phones service providers be required to connect emergency calls to local 911 systems based on the location of the cell tower the call is being routed through, that way when I call for help in New York City, I'm connected to New York's system rather than to LA's.
      After that is implemented the next phase of the FCC's regulation regarding 911 and cell phones mandates location information be relayed to operators by the mobile providers using various technologies

    The 911 operators seriously piss me off, they are so stupid and dont give a shit like
    "Help me im being stabbed to death!"

    "Youre gonna have to calm down."

    Y'all know that NOT ONLY victims call 911? Criminals also call 911 to manipulate their plans and motives to stage the scenes. Therefore, these operators have no empathy or sympathy towards callers.

    I won't lie (I'm British), the American police are so much different from that in the UK. I once had to speak to an operator due to children running around a massive bonfire on public property and they got straight to the point. The phone got disconnected and they called me right back. In this, it seems like they are stalling for as long as possible:
    "I've been shot, please hurry. 1040 Holly Lane."
    "What's the address?"
    "1040 Holly Lane, please hurry, four people have just been shot!"
    "Was anybody injured?"
    I'm not being rude at all, it just makes me wonder...

    • @DarkestDesires
      @DarkestDesires  9 лет назад +4

      +Nathalie Mendre The reason the dispatchers ask for the exact address is because most 911 calls are placed through cell phones, because of that the call can not be preciously tracked for a while as the cell phone sends its signal to a cell phone tower and then from the tower to the dispatcher however because home phones have phone lines those can be tracked immediately, but yes it is sad to see that many people may pass away due to a lack of immediate communication.

      @@WingedEdits Not true all the time. 911 cannot trace a lot of cell phone calls. They don't have the updated technology yet. And aren't required to until 2021 when all centers are expected to be updated. Sometimes a dispatcher can trace you, depending on your cellphone carrier and where you are. Other times the call can only be traced to being within a couple of miles from your actual location. Even some "landlines" Cannot be traced due to them being VoIP lines rather than true landlines. My modem even tells me that 911 can not trace my call front my home phone... Just an fyi because I would never want you to need 911 and assume they can easily trace your call and pinpoint where you're at, nor would I want anyone seeing your comments to think that is the case.

It's just REALLY annoying when they have to repeat the addresses at least three times in most cases.
