Hi Matt, this is Lucas Merrow from Mobius. I'm not sure what you mean by tax exempt. If you mean sales tax, there is no federal sales tax. States vary, but most have an exemption for medical equipment. I can look it up if you want to provide your state of residence.
Hi Matt, Mobius is not in-network with United Healthcare but we can bill them out of network. The iBOT has the same reimbursement codes as other power wheelchairs. That being said, United has been among the more (most?) difficult insurance companies to deal with. If you are interested in learning more, I can put you in touch with someone at Mobius that handles customer intake/support. Just let me know. Thanks. Luke Merrow
@ thanks it would be very expensive for me billed out of network I think ( it is the state employee united healthcare plan for state of Florida employees ) usually covers everything not sure if that makes any difference? It might I don’t know. Anyway, thanks for your help. Let me know if you have any other information that might be helpful.
@ hi Luke, thanks for your reply. I wonder if we know of anybody has had any luck billing them out of network for the Ibot ? I talked to United healthcare insurance company and they said that potentially with a prior authorization it may be covered. I would have to talk to my doctor about getting that and I can’t really do that until power positioning is done because I would need that. It’s not looking great for me when it comes to insurance coverage maybe
@@mattm1686 Hi Matt, we have some in process but no finals yet. Prior auth is the key (and advocacy from the user and doc/therapist). If you need power positioning we should check back later this winter. We expect FDA clearance in Jan/Feb. After that there is a separate process for getting the insurance codes approved but since we are using a well-known (and already reimbursed on other bases) seating platform we don't expect any issues with that.
@ thanks so much for your time. That’s exactly what I was thinking. It’s gonna be somewhere around February anyway and after talking to my insurance, it does seem that they are more interested in justification from my doctor and my therapist and so forth more than blanketly what’s covered and what’s not so that’s good news it would be amazing if you guys could potentially add United healthcare to a reimbursable provider for your product, they are one of the largest insurance providers in the country thanks again for your time. Hope you’re having another amazing week.
Unfortunately, due to other commitments, I was unable to continue as administrator of that Facebook group. I couldn't find another administrator, so I had to suspend the Facebook page. But you can get lots of information by working directly with the manufacturer, Mobius Mobility. They remain very active and committed to continuous improvement of the iBOT.
Is there a way to get Tax exempt with the IBot?
