I hope you enjoy this weeks video! 😀 What should I add next to my Tyranid army and what would you like to see painted next on the channel? Thanks again!
Haha I’m glad you like it and that it’s luring you in. It was a lot of fun to paint and I’ve always enjoyed playing Tyranids if that helps sway you 🤣🤌 Wha are you otherwise painting at the moment?
Hey Mike! Thank you so much for sharing my hive fleet and being so kind and helpful in our back n forth discussing painting! WOW! I'm blown away that you painted up a whole squad and a parasite of mortrex in my style and are giving it to me!! Genuinely, thank you so very much! Also you did such a great job on these guys. The way you used the air brush to build up color gradient and the highlights are super impressive! Thank you so much and keep up the amazing work! :)
There he is! Thank you for your assistance in this matter. I love that when presented with the dialogue options, you couldn’t help but chose the nice guy one. While you’re here, I have a favour to ask. Can you please attend the planet of [X] and search for my brother, I fear for his safety.
AMAZING NIDS!!! I got my hands on the Leviathan box few days ago and I "kinda ruined" my paint scheme I had in mind ( Hive fleet Tiamat but very frosty ) I used Contrast Frostheart all over the skin without thinning it down ( I forgot how extreme unthinned contrast paint can cover ) and after mixing two colors and some contrast medium for the carapace... I still did not get the result like a other RUclipsr I've been painting along... Tryed every other possible combinations with colors I own or more/less medium... ended up with 10 Termagants with different skin tones (some even mint green, not blue-ish), a hand full with purple or pink carapaces to test if I could vibe with that, a funny looking Neurotyrant with ultra blue tentacles and blue Von Ryan's Leapers with turquoise carapaces.. all in all... they look like they have escaped the circus I never thinked about only painting the resesses as you do and highlighting the muscles with a bit of white After I found a way of stripping them all and get the colors you'r using, I get back to work Keep up your work!!
Thanks so much for the feedback 😀 Yeah I found contrast paints tricky to use for light flesh when I started off using them as well. Don’t worry, I have some in my collection that were either test models or are a bit darker than the rest as I experimented. With the darker ones, if you decide not to strip them, you can paint white layers over the darker raised sections and that will leave the darker skin tones just in the recess. Looking forward to hearing how you go with them though, good luck!
PSYCHOPHAGE! Those icy Tyranids are awesome! I love the mix of contrast and the results on the white skin sections very cool! The basing technique for these are very excellent too! Great work with the lightning round. Those jungle bases and bright coloured nids look incredible!
That’s some amazing work! I’ve decided to paint my Tyranids like you! Using a bit more of a grim dark element to them! I was wondering what paint you use on the mouth’s?
Amazing! I’d love to see how you go with yours because that sounds really cool. For the mouths I base coated with bugmans / cadian fleshtone styles then a wet blend of two contrast paints. Volupus (?) Pink and Fyreslayer Flesh. Hope that helps.
@kylegriffin6218 I normally use contrast paints and moosh them together in a blend. 1) Volupus Pink 2) Fyreslayer I think them a little so they aren’t as strong and I paint one half in one colour and then with the second colour I wet blend it. Same for tongues, tentacles and similar bits
Hey thanks so much! The prime is Wraithbone as I find it helps the contrast mix for the skin go on smoothly. I have a guide on how I paint my Tyranids on the channel. It’s the Tyranid painting guide part 1. Or if you just want to see all my bugs in pretty photos and videos I also have an army showcase of them.
Yeah a nice simple way that I enjoy is start with a base of a fleshtone like cadian then wet blend Fyrselayer Contrast and Volupus Pink contrast (both thinned down with contrast medium (50/50). Once dry, layer highlight with some more fleshtones 😎 We also have a discord if you want to jump in there and myself and the others can give you tips and tricks and you can share your mini photos as you go 👍 discord.gg/fxXhJ4R7
Hey mate! 50/50 mix of the contrast with the contrast medium. Then I’m painting flesh brown at one end, pink at the other, and wet blend mooshing them in the middle. Hope that helps!
@TheVideoGameAddict15 oh my bad, I went quite light with mine. 25 - white 25 - green 50 - contrast Then you can use green straight as really thin recess dark lines at the end 🤘
This paint job is absolutely amazing! Love the icy look and it uses one of my favorite colors, stegadon scale! Not a huge fan of the grass tuffs but oh man am I drooling over everything else. Red accents 🤌
Really looking forward to the "How to paint a whole Genestealer Cult Army". I'll send you my address now. Plus, I'm in for a full length blooper video please.
Hahaha! Come round with your models, a bottle of Mountain Dew and half a kilo of sour straps and we can make a weekend of it and paint the whole army 👀

I wasnt going to get any tyranids but your screamer killer is making me want to collect them

@@flashingbadgerpainting im painting a redemptor dreadnought in a gold and red colour scheme
Nice! Good timing, I’m about to start on a Dreadnought this week for my Blood Angels 😀
@@flashingbadgerpaintingi got the 10th edition today and some of the paints you used so that i can recreate your tyranids 😁

😀😀 no worries at all! Great work again with starting your army and I look forward to sending these across
I love the colours it looks peaceful and beautiful like something moving in the night illuminating under the moonlight.
Thanks so much! Thats such a creative way to describe it, I think I might steal that line 😀
Man, those look great. Please do a Norn emissary, they look amazing.
Cool idea! Yeah that would be a great model to paint.
Found you on Reddit! Huge job!
Thanks, and welcome! 😀
My favourite channel on the Citadel.

Can I point out the bravery of spraying the airbrush so close to your very light coloured jumper at 3:03 blows me away 😂
Haha! Unmatched bravery is what you’ll get from this channel’s content 😂
Great pickup 🤌
@@flashingbadgerpainting Haha it's a fine line mate 😉
Love the drool effect! Need to figure out a way of using that in my stuff!

I never thought about masking areas off when airbrushing. I been getting frustrated having to go back so much and fixing the over spray.
Yep I was the same. Now I’m happy to spend 10 - 15 minutes masking off areas and it saves the annoyance of going back and forth. 🙂
Beautiful Work!
Thank you mate 😀

@@flashingbadgerpaintinghey Mike just one more question what color do you use on say the barbagaunts or Gargoyles guns?
@kylegriffin6218 I normally use contrast paints and moosh them together in a blend.

Awesome thanks! Let me know how you go with your chitin and feel free to send me pics if you use Instagram etc,

Do you use Wraithbone from the can or from the pot for your base? I'm trying to copy your paint job but the wraithbone looks a bit too yellow
Hey, I use the wraithbone primer spray. Hmm mine doesn’t come out yellow at all, just a fairly generic cream colour.
Hi, what’s the ratio you used to mix the contrast paints for the skin tone?
Hey mate!
50/50 mix of the contrast with the contrast medium.
Then I’m painting flesh brown at one end, pink at the other, and wet blend mooshing them in the middle. Hope that helps!
@@flashingbadgerpainting awesome! What about the apothecary white and aethermatic green?
