I'm kind of loving these frequent uploads! They help shed some light and pass the time while I work on my lines. These shorter videos are excellent for a break too. Sometimes these videos demand my full attention because they resonate with me. They are quite interesting.

Bouncing off the topic of this video, I personally also very highly recommend the book Art and Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles and Ted Orland. Making art is difficult and full of fears whether it be fear of your art, yourself, how your art is in the world, etc. this book addresses it all. It's such a great read when you're in need of a bit of support or in doubt sometimes and I find myself flippjng through it every once it a while. It was first published in like, 1994 but is still so relatable and relevant to this day!

Second this comment. Art and Fear is on the short list of fundamental books for anyone doing artwork. Loved it. Will re-read it.

I just finished Deep Work, and it was great. I'm now employing many of the techniques from this book in my life, and hoping it will help with my focus. Some are harder than others --- it's hard for me to not check social media every few minutes T__T --- but I know it's important for me to use my time on quality things.
I have another book I want to read (Thou Shall Prosper, about changing one's money mindset, suggested by a friend) before hopping back into your suggestions list again.

@@jakeparker44 I like that idea. It makes the videos easy to consume, but also lets all the information about your recommendations be available for people who want more.
I have some recommendations for you, Jake! I'm currently reading the Win Without Pitching Manifesto by Blair Enns, and though it's written more for graphic designers, it's a great way to reframe how to talk to clients as a creative practitioner. I also think you might like Art + Faith by Makoto Fujimura. It's a dive into how art and faith in God collide, how creative minds are uniquely positioned to pour light into the world, and was an incredible inspiration to me when I read it.
