You made video about Messi and you show us old Diego Maradona. Everything prepare to say that Messi was better, but it's wrong. I don't know if you don't know any videos wit Maradona skills in Argentinos Juniors, Boca, Barca, Napoli, Sevilla and Argentina or you just want to tell us that Maradona is oldand fat and this is why Messi is better. Both are great, however Maradona was much better than Messi. If you'll make fair video with skills comparisation then you'll understand what I mean.
While I remain a huge Maradona fan, Messi has surpassed him in every single aspect.
Diego was a torch that burned with immense power and unpredictabitlity but fizzled out very early (he was technically done by the age of 28) whilst Messi is comparable to a lightsaber: he has outscored, dribbled, passed, assisted almost every single player in history, he remained incredibly consistent and dangerous well into his 30s (and is still going relatively strong at 36), just simply a freak.
Everybody loved Diego for his passion and impact, but he was a pain to deal with (professionally), his antics took focus away from the team and he loved bathing in fame (which surprisingle suited him well). Messi on the other hand was (and still is) the deciding factor in most occasions on the pitch, if he's there, chances and opportunities will come to turn a game or solidify dominance. He's quiet, reserved and an exemplary family man with full focus on his profession.
Another picture that came to mind is from my personal experience: Diego is like the cheeky bad boy who always gets away with anything he does and is beloved by most of his surroundings until they grow tired of his antics and belligerence, Messi is like the quiet friend who is always there, you can count on him, rely on him and lean on him in times of need.
Each to their own, both have great following and fans who would die to prove their chosen player is the best ever, but the last argument is sadly the most dominant: stats. Messi is just simply in another universe to Diego when it comes to accolades, assists, free kicks, total goals scored, total trophies won, and the list goes on and on. We can sit here and debate why Diego hasn't done more in any of these aspects but the truth is that even if he avoided his demons in Italy, he would've found them somewhere else, he was just the character that attracted bad influence (happen to know a few ppl in my surrounding that have the same issue, hard to escape).
Overall, it's fine (more than fine) to adore Diego over Messi, nobody should question your choice of favourites but to say that he was better than Leo is just factually wrong. Remember this one stat: Leo scored 91 goals in a calendar year and I watched every single game that year, he could've gone way above a 100. Never have I seen such dominance of a single individual over his opponents throughout an entire year, Cristiano was never even close to this level of dominance, Diego even further.
But most importantly: I hope both will be remembered by the world for their feats on the pitch, for the joy the brought to Argentina (and myself) and for the characters they were/are. There's really not much point of comparisons but human nature is such. Peace!
