I had this idea for a while now you get to pick 10 skylanders of your choosing you want 10 of the same elements ok you want to use less than 10 ok you want to use 10 drobot go for it you crazy kid think of the pvp potential you can pick 1v1 5v5 10v10 or free fight where players can pick between 1to10 skylanders like 5v8 you can switch skylanders using the dpad for the 9th and 10th skylanders you push the left and right stick
I always thought itd be cool if you always had all skylanders unlocked but could buy the "special ones" as figures. Like your ledgandarys or whatever. I know theyd never do this because they want money and make you buy them all but with a reboot i could see it being viable
I like to give an idea for Giants or rather, unlocking the Giants have them be ancient statues, covered in vines, but with elemental crystal on them break them free, and you unlocked them
I disagree with discontinuing the figures, I think many people would be willing to still buy them myself included despite not having a huge disposable income. Especially if they don't make the game full price. However, it'd be nice if there were some characters in the game itself, with even a few unlockable ones to make it more exciting for people who just want the game only. It'd also be cool if the skylanders already in the game would be purchasable as figures and either are better, different or the ones from the base game are perhaps capped at lvl 15 rather than 20, this is to prevent people whose favorite characters are in the base game from feeling like their character is less unique (and also for the collectors). Lastly, it's a kids game, I have no clue whether a potential skylanders reboot would have more of the older players coming back or newer (young) players. If it's the latter, I think the double jump and base speed increase shouldn't be there, the reason your mobility is so little is so that the fighting can remain simple and easy to understand. A sprint button is a nice idea though, but while I do prefer skylanders with a higher speed it's not the end of the world for me, I think the issue sits more on the skylanders that are abysmally slow for whatever reason. The mobility remaining simple is one of the many things you'd need to consider for a kids game. For example while I love the idea of a higher skill ceiling (and that should also be a point they keep in mind, so that the older players coming back have new spicy content), it is more difficult for a child to understand and therefore can't be integral to the gameplay.
I could just imagine for a post credit scene in that game we hear some giant footsteps with music playing. Then we Shadows of swap force and giant characters

Recently I’ve been imagining what a Skylanders animated film might look like (or a new series unrelated to Academy) and I think your reboot story could work really well. The Core of Light being destroyed and instead of being banished, Spyro has to recruit new Skylanders or rediscover old friends. I always loved the idea of a Skylanders story that focuses on the characters themselves, exploring and expanding their individual backstories.
As much I want a a return of toys to life. It would simply not work. Gamers have changed their attitudes toward dlc and a whole supply chain for the statues would be too big a risk for modern developers. My best idea right now is a card system that you could but like Pokémon cards with codes on the back to unlock characters or build in chips to scan in like the original statues. I however believe these packs should be guaranteed set of characters like a series 1 and so on. This isn’t the best idea I know but it’s the best I got. I do however think that a new portal should be made where you can use your legacy skylanders. This is just my idea feel free to criticize
I dislike this idea more than Malik's idea to have them be unlockables. This would have all the downsides of micro transactions, none of the benefits of being physical and resellable, and would make owning the figures you already have pointless. There's a million games that can charge a couple bucks for a re-skin and slightly different move set. League of Legends is an example of exactly that. But more convenient because at least you buy and immediately get those online rather than buying a physical card with a code that you must then redeem. Another critique/criticism I have is the statement that a supply chain for plastic is too big of a risk for modern developers is just kinda... factually wrong.. If anything, now that the whole process has been figured out and kinks have been hammered out from learning with the whole toys to life era... it should be way easier than ever if the choice to do so was made. And a figures raw production is extremely inexpensive. It's basically just a normal action figure which are cheap af with an NFC chip and sometimes an LED. That is.... stupidly low-risk, especially considering the sell price. There's a reason toys to life was so profitable. It's basically $5-$20 for a c50 or less thing. With emphasis on the 'for less' part. So it wouldn't be a risk, since if we're assuming that all players have all the series 1 figures already, then no new ones need to be made, or if there aren't enough then more wouldn't be expensive to make. But more importantly, game should still be able to stand on its own. Regardless of any form of DLC content. I think that should always be the core of any skylanders game. At least imo.
I can agree with some of the ideas, like side quests and open world, as well as devil-may-cry-like combat. But there are some ideas I *don't* agree with, such as the whole excluding the collectible figures idea, since that's what Skylanders was originally known for.
dude I always day dream about a reboot of the skylanders story and you just said everything I've been thinking. if they don't hire you to make the new reboot for skylanders (sense toys for bob went indie) I will blow up
I agree with most of this, but I also deeply hate the idea of not needing figures to play as a character, also the plot you came up. If the characters were only digital it would become a micro-transaction heavy game. On top of that you couldn't just introduce each one with their own introduction, because otherwise the story would derail and it'd be hard to keep on track. Especially because of game design. If you intend on players getting a character at a certain point it's like saying _"Ok, this is the correct way to play the game, you should use this character now until the next one. Because that's how we designed it."_ But a part of the fun of skylanders is using whatever one you want (that's available to you). On top of this, SSA characters are some of the easiest and most available figures on the market because they were overproduced. And likely every skylanders fan in 2024 who has played the later games have at least a few of the original green base set. So it'd be hard to call that much of a pay-wall. Secondly the plot sounds bad to me. Like I said earlier about derailing the story to recruit new characters. But also there would be big problems with elemental gates due to the corresponding elemental characters not being unlocked yet. So elemental stuff would also have to be changed/overhauled. But on top of that... it changes things you already know. Also idk if giving jump in SSA is a good idea. And maybe instead of immediately getting the run toggle option, you get it after completing the main campaign once. That way you could take the time to appreciate and search the world first, and then have the option tojust speed around because you think Eruptor and Stump Smash get out raced by snails on the regular.
I wouldn’t change the fighting style if I were you mostly because it wouldn’t feel the same it wouldn’t even feel like a Skylanders game we would feel like something else entirely

you should find a way to have older skylanders fans to be able to use their own portals and figures in this new game if they want to
I want this series to come back some this decade.
We all hoping
Praying 🙏
If we are going with a dmc combat in skylanders will we able to switch between skylanders on the fly
That's kinda sick ngl
I don't see why not. In the 3ds games you could switch between every skylander whenever, so I could see them doing it.

I think we can also use figures as a way to unlock characters
