If you watched Crank 1 he blinks at the end. Also, Crank 2 is a masterpiece in absurdity. They full-sent it into the ridiculousness of it all and the movie ended up being one of the best dumb movies of all time. worth a watch. 5/5 .
It's not ridiculous that Chev survives, given that we hear his heartbeat. It's absurd that he's running around with the rest of his body intact.
Toy Story 4 should not be on here because of how good it was. I think out of all movies, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 should be on here because Paul finally gets to be happy and then in the first 5 minutes of the second one he gets divorced after a week because his wife threw up when she got near him AND his mom got hit by a milk truck and later on it's revealed that his daughter, the only other thing keeping him happy, was planning on leaving. Even people who hate movies that Adam Sandler is involved in can admit that Paul had a great ending in the first one.
THIS! I STILL hold out hope for Crank 3. 😂
Is Crank 2 as ridiculous as Conan 2009 and Shoot em up (2007) because if it is I’m in.
@@YouLousyKids Well, he is Chev Chelios. Not an ordinary guy, as both movies proved 😄
Lethal Weapon 2 never gets mentioned in these kinds of lists. Riggs is always shown as being batshit crazy in the sequels, but at the end of the first one he makes a VERY pointed statement about not being crazy and gets pissed off that Murtaugh thinks he is crazy. His "crazy" behavior in the first movie is because he is suicidally depressed over the murder of his wife, but he gets closure at the end of the movie. But in all the sequels he's just crazy for the sake of being crazy
Being able to relate to this… him getting his “closure” could just be him in denial. People who chase the dragon to finally slay it, end up still being left unsatisfied. Once they’ve reached the mountain top they still are left unfulfilled.
I personally never saw it as closure. My interpretation was that Riggs gave the bullet to Rianne Murtaugh to give to her father, as a message that he decided to give life another go, and that he found a person he could trust and be his friend. The dark thoughts and demons are still there, but with the warmth of having the Murtaugh family in his life brings him some degree of normality.
For the better, Highlander 3 doesn't just ignore the ending of Highlander 2, it completely ignores all of Highlander 2 and is a sequel to the first movie.
Honestly, we all should ignore Highlander 2.
Highlander 2 has like 2 cool parts, they should delete the rest of the movie and just use those scenes as the intro for Highlander 3, like a little skit.
Never realized that wasn't Jack in Speed 2
The death of Marie in the Bourne series wasn't the problem. That played an important device to drive the story. What was the true travesty was killing off Nicky in the fourth installment, as it is something we had already seen before. Nicky has been involved in the series from the very start, and there were indications that she and Bourne were more than just colleagues in the early days of Treadstone. It would have been worth exploring that a little further, instead of again killing off one of the very few characters Bourne ever got close to or trusted. Not to mention her character arc went government adversary to ally, turning her from a cold, unsympathetic peripheral character to being embraced by the audience by the time she took center stage. Pushing her off the stage when she should have had her moment to shine was lazy writing and completely unnecessary.
My biggest issue with Now You See Me 2 is that they didn't call it Now You Don't
I don't know if this is actually true or maybe it was meant as a joke but I saw that the title of the third movie will be, "Now You Three Me."
...which is so gloriously idiotic that it's impressive.
I've said this for years.
totally agree with Sharpay! So many people try and claim Gabriella is the 'real' villain because- the horror- she auditions for a high school musical when CLEARLY only Sharpay and her brother are allowed. And ofc she's a villain because she puts her summer and self respect before coddling Troy and HIS dreams, unlike Sharpay who uses her money and connections to manipulate Troy. What's the real issue is that Sharpay continuously learns to be a better person, and then by the next film she reverts right back to her default self. It's a shame, because Sharpay really does have her moments.
There is no Toy Story 4. That franchise ended after Toy Story 3. I dont know why people keep bringing up this movie that doesn't exist.
The High School Musical treatment of that character reminds me of sitcom lore. People change and learn, next episode is a reset.
Alien 3 better be #1 on this list
I can't believe they made two lists and still didn't include Aliens 3
Now we gotta have the most perfectly resolved cliffhangers
Will benson literally asks Julie if her nightmare was the one is the bathroom
Again. That was the reference to the bathroom ending of the first I know what you did last summer
It was shown in Crank 1 that he survived, during the end credits.
You hear a heartbeat.
Not even the end credits, it happens before the credits roll.
Toy Story 4 should not be on here because of how good it was. Out of all movies Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 should be on here because Paul has a happy ending but in the first few minutes of the second one, he gets divorced after a week because his wife throws up when she sees him, his mom gets hit by a milk truck and later on it's revealed that his daughter will be leaving soon, and she was the only other thing that he loved. Even if you hate things that Adam Sandler is involved in, you can't deny the ending of the first one was great and that they pulled an Alien 3 card.
Didn't the guy blink right at the end of Crank 1? 🤔
How bout Rambo? He fought for veterans rights for peace and equality and then was thrust back into the thing that gave him trouble in the first place.
Because sadly nobody at that point in the 1980s wanted to see a movie about a muscle-bound Vietnam vet fighting for equality and mental health support
Whatculture has a very different definition of "alive and well" than the rest of us.
Also, Chev is also obviously still alive in the end of the first and Crank 2 was like watching the most ridiculous video game ever.
Terminator: Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day. John Connor, who was saved in the earlier film (that was the whole point of the film), is abruptly and unceremoniously killed off at the very beginning of the sequel.
I saw Woody as a metaphor for the older fans and how Disney now is focusing on the younger audience (Buzz)
"The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down" is an amazing Speed/Simpsons reference. :-p
Toy Story 4 was one of the most unnecessarily sequels
You didn't even go into the way that Crank 2 spoiled the ending of Crank: it is revealed that despite the long, beautiful goodbye Chev made into the phone, she never knew what happened to him because in Crank 2 it shows her answering machine playing three seconds of wind rushing by the cell phone's microphone, OF COURSE drowning out anything Chev is whispering as he falls, and then cuts off with a beep. It's hilarious. But you can never watch the ending to the first one the same anymore!
Fucking Dark Fate.
Considering how often Whatculture has brought up that movie, it's probably safe to assume Dark Fate was mentioned in the previous video.
Crank 2 is inexplicably amazing despite the undone of the previous ending! Actually both movies are, unironically, pure cinema!
Pacific rim uprising , Pacific rim is one of my favorite movies of all time and there were so many different ways they could have gone with it but they went the most silly way with it.
#3 Chev did not die at the end of Crank and they went out of their way to show that when he blinks and his heart beats just before cutting to credits.
I was very disappointed that the happy ending of Clerks 2 was overridden by Clerks 3. I still liked Clerks 3 and consider it a great capstone to the Askewniverse, but pulling the rug out from under Dante's happily ever after was a hard pill to swallow.
Of course there are things to criticize in Avatar. Being upset that the humans would return years later? No, that's not one of them. Please observe ANY of the global conflicts happening today. The 'stubborn insistence of humanity to invade' is a perfectly apt theme in a movie like Avatar.
And then: "Did the first movie accomplish anything???" is, frankly, a daft thing to say considering the main character is a blue-man where he wasn't before along with a family in which the movie centers around, lol. And as someone who saw the second one before seeing the first one, I had a lot of questions that made me regret seeing it out of order, lol. So yeah, I'd say there was definitely a lot covered in that first one that mattered.
How about John Connor gets killed in Dark Fate right at the start, making Terminator 2 a glum rewatch.
Highschool 2 is basically saved by the bell when they worked in vacation resort
No mention of the terminators or Star Wars..
Well, one issue is that Terminator 2 is one of those sequels which most people consider superior to the original. But it does introduce many plot holes that to the original, which had a very tight story.
@@Nytegard I was referring to the ones after T2, how dare you spit on T2 sir. With that said what were the plot holes please educate me/ruin my favourite movie.
@@bennyc2426 One of the cut scenes in the first movie, was that it ended with Sarah Conner being taken away to the hospital, and the camera shifts up to show that the building was Cyberdyne Systems. Now, obviously this plays into T2, and The Terminator was a bootstrap paradox, whereas T2 tries to explain this, and breaks the cycle, but that leads to a grandfather paradox. But at least a boostrap paradox is a closed loop.
Anyway, at the beginning of T2, Sarah mentions that they sent two terminators back in time, whereas this was only mentioned in the second film. And the fact that they had a much more advanced terminator. In The Terminator, Kyle mentions that the humans had won, and they were going to destroy the temporal displacement equipment. The original terminator sent back was a Hail Mary by the machines.
Not to mention that in the original, the terminators all looked different. It's hard to be used for infiltration if the models all look the same. That's why the humans originally had dogs, to sniff them out.
Then that goes into sending the things back into the past. The time displacement equipment only worked with living tissue (let's ignore that hair isn't living). How did a liquid metal robot go back? In a meat suit?
Plus, I guess the time travel got better, because in the first movie, Kyle had no clue what year it was. Yet Arnold knows exactly where John Conner, after asking his adopted parents. Did John Conner give Arnold an exact list of everything he did? Even if he did go to the Galleria on every occasion, there's still tons more places he could have gone.
These are just a few of the problems. That's the problem with time travel, in that sequels end up getting added to explain away the plot holes, and while they may plug some, they end up opening more and more.
@@Nytegard Wow, yeah loads of plot points as u say going back in time will almost always cause paradoxes or inconsistencies. I completely forgot at the end of T1 it was cyberdyne that Sarah was being taken to. If James Cameron had the plan from the start he could have patched up almost all these errors u mention but still leaving the main one, how did cyberdyne manage to send another termator.. especially a more advanced one. To try give a bs explanation for how that model even traveled back you could say the biomechanical skin could be recognised as human flesh but even then don’t seem right, however it would be a bit strange it arriving in a meat sack then breaking out like a egg. I still love the movie but wow I won’t be able to watch without knowing this now.
Terminator 3 to me ruined what should have ended at 2. Every sequel tried to justify its existence & none of them are worth undoing a perfect movie ending.
Toy Story 5 can redeem 4’s misstep by confirming 2 things:
- the theory that all Pixar movies are connected with Bonnie & the Monsters Inc doors connecting everything
- the fan story of Woody ending up with Andy near the end of his life finally back with him.
The 2nd is less likely since Andy is an essentially the same age as anyone born from 1986-1989.
Honestly I don't really crave for the Avatar franchise but I think Avatar 2 build on Avatars ending because it builds on Jake's character and he trained the blue cats to fight the sky people better.
After they killed off Marie at the beginning of the second Bourne movie, I backed out of it on Netflix, removed it from my "Continue Watching" list, and never watched any of the sequels.
Missed some classics
Did you also do that to Star Wars, Spider-Man and Batman?
Bummer. You missed a good trilogy.
No, I wanted Andy to keep his toys in Toy Story 3. The ending to Toy Story 3 and 4 were disappointing to me
In the first Die hard its assumed John fixed his marriage the first time, by start of die hard 3 we know it didnt work. hes just a guy with bad luck
Yes, if anything Die Hard 3 should be here and not Live Free or Die Hard.
Yes, frankly, given who John McClain is as a character, it would have felt more out of place if he wasn't divorced. He's not the kind of character you see riding off into the sunset.
Crank has TCW in it - hard not to justify making a movie with her in it.
Crank is an unofficial Grand Theft Auto movie. Rewatch knowing that. Protagonist in GTA IV looks like Statham for a reason.
Crank is a one of a kind slice of genius! Crank 2 is not far behind either!
Last Jedi AND Rise of Skywalker. Both totally ignored the film before it. Total joke of writing and planning.
Somehow Palpatine returned.
do you remember those creative writing assignments in grade school where one student writes a bit of the story and then hands it to the next student who has to continue the story, and then they hand it off to you to add your piece?
that's what the sequel trilogy feels like. it was like three contest winners got to take a stab at whatever story they wanted to add in...
LOL! What planning? It's already been established that the movies were treated more like a baton race than an actual planned out trilogy. Last Jedi threw out everything Awakens set up and Rise of Skywalker threw out every Last Jedi set up. It was a total mess.
The prequels did similar with all the inconsistencies in them.
The Disney Star Wars trilogy. 😅 Fight me. 🤷♂️
5:24 They totally explain this ending in the sequel. When Julie talks about the dream she had during the opening, her friend asks if it was “the one in the shower?” He mumbles the line, but it’s there.
Sandra Bulloch said that after the sequels to speed & congeniality she has tried to avoid sequels.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Right?
Hey! Crank is dumb? Well, OK. Yes it's pretty dumb. But my goodness it's hilarious and fun! It's a guilty pleasure for my family. My Dad and I saw it at the cinema and still have fond memories of it to this day.
And yes, the sequel is perplexing. Chev was definitely dead at the end of Crank. And even if he wasn't, explain how after that fall from the sky. I like to think of Crank 2: High Voltage as one of the characters having a weird dream. Even if you can get past Chev being alive, Ricky's head being alive is the bit that takes it completely into fantasy land.
lol she cracks me up lol "Crank 2 was really really Dumb" lol
Jason Statham is alive at the end of crank 1.
Avatar 2 basically told everyone that there was no need for Jake to take the place of his brother after he was killed. Since the technology to backup someone's memories existed, then why didn't the company do so with Jake's brother when it was clearly said how expensive it was to make said avatars? Would have made for a more interesting twist for the main character instead of him being a paralyzed veteran
Not only does Marie not die in the book, if she DOES die in the book then Webb (his real name that he actually goes by in the book after the first one) goes completely sideways and just kills everyone; good, bad, doesn't matter. He has borderline personality disorder in the books and actually argues with Jason Bourne in his head. If Marie dies, the Jason personality takes over...control voluntarily given up by Webb.
Haven't seen High School Musical but this reminds me of Book of Three. Doli is grumpy throughout because he doesn't have his power.
Hoped he'd be a more cheerful character in the sequels after he's obtained it. Instead he stays grouchy because the power has frustrating side effects.
How has Carl Urban's head doubled in size since the Bourne Supremacy?
…WhatCulture literally made a video two weeks ago, about post-credit scenes, that talks about how Jason Statham is alive at the end of Crank…
Not sure if it was in the 1st video or not but one of the worst cases of this was the direct to DVD sequel to the comedy "Waiting".
How the heck is the latest terminator film not number 1? It butchered the entire series within the first 3 minutes.
You watch your tone about Crank.
She's british. She can't.
Speed 2, this list actually states the obvious outcome. They know nothing about each other and only got together due to the extreme circumstances. And honestly, them getting together has no bearing on how Speed ended. It could have gone either way and still worked.
Miss Congeniality 2 being on here is asinine. How is becoming famous and getting a boyfriend "life lessons"? How does she not care? There are multiple scenes where it is mentioned and discussed. It also leads to her connecting with Regina King's character Agent Fuller.
Live Free or Die Hard doesn't show anything anything about him and his wife getting back together. He goes to make a phone call. To think that they'll go back to being a happy couple after not even trying to call for a year and the possibility he hasn't really fixed any of the issues that might have been in the relationship as we see him in a horrible state at the beginning of that movie.
Crank 2: Whoever wrote this list obviously did not pay attention to the movie as at the end Chev actually winks to show that he's not dead yet. They intentionally hinted at a possible sequel. They did the same at the end of part 2.
I'm sorry but avatar 2 was 100% clear the humans would come back at the end of the first one
6:30
I'm sure it happens a lot in movies, but that driver's license photo is ridiculous, lol. No way is the DMV letting you pose like that and then leaving that much un-cropped
Now You See Me 2 should have been called Now You Don't, or even Now You See Me Again.
In one of the first scenes, Will Benson asks Julie which dream it was. He even asked if it was the "bathroom" dream "again". The sequel both acknowledges and explains the ending. Y'all need to actually watch the movies before making these lists. Lol
Crank 1/2 is not really really dumb it's awesome and hilarious l...specially the Kaiju fight with him and the one Asian guy!
In I still know what you did last summer, didn't Julie mention the attack at the end of the first movie as a dream she had? If so, this is another example of Whatculture not doing their homework.
Scream 6 wasn't on this list or the previous list. In scream 5 Gale said she was gonna write about dewey not the killers and then she turned around and went back to crappy opportunist Gale as if dewey meant NOTHING. WHAT A CRAP SHOOT
Julie was having a nightmare at the end of I know what you did last summer…
Public inter course will always save you !
I have not seen Toy Story 2, 3 or 4, so I guess I can skip 6 and 9 and 69 and wait. And wait. And keep on waiting... for something original.
"HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCKADOODIE CAR!"
Excellent Father Ted reference there. Well played.
He was still alive in Crank
I completely disagree regarding the Bourne Supremacy
Enjoy Crank 2 very much just like Crank
So John McClane is just supposed to wake up in his house in California happily married to Holly, say goodbye to his kids, then fly into Harlem half-naked with a bad hangover? That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works!
No views after 1 minute. Fell off.
The irony could not be stronger I tried.
Crank is dope. That is all.
Now You See Me 1+2 are awesome
Sandra Bullock's character in Speed was just bad luck.
Disney's Star Wars.
Karate Kid II - Daniel has broken up with his girlfriend. WT-!!
Once again, a whatculture error. Julie and Ray did not go on holiday together to the Bahamas. Julie went with friends and Ray had to come to the rescue after the fact. I wonder if whatculture will make a list of mistakes whatculture has made?
👁🫀🫵🏼🐘
You need to shut your damn mouth about the Crank movies!
Nobody wants Woody 😅😅😅😅
The chicken man do.
"Fridging" yuck what a total npc thing to say.
Two lists and still no Aliens 3?
toy story 4 is awful
Alien 3. Enough said
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch which had nothing to do with the series, then 4 and 5 which were just as bad. Now jump ahead to Halloween 2018, a direct sequel to Halloween 2 (1981), so Myers has been locked up for the last (almost) 40 years so none of the other sequels actually happened. Halloween Kills, which was the same night picks up right after, but then we get Halloween Ends which is 4 years after Kills. Why wait 4 years to go after Laurie and Myers was in it for about 10 minutes. 🙄🥱
Giggity Giggity all right
