I think they were testing the water for her having a solo around this time - she was solo on immortal song not long after this and there was a song on Hyuna's debut album that was basically just a Jiyoon solo - I guess they decided a Jiyoon solo wouldn't have been profitable; a tragedy really.
I remember when I first watched a performance by 4MINUTE, I immediately fell in love with them. Especially how they NAILED the girl crush concept back then. I wish they'd reunite at some point and perform together again. ):

I guess I'm getting older too because for me this era of kpop is the best, I know every single song that came out in those years...honestly 2009 was THE YEAR of kpop, but 2010 was great too...every group had their own color...and every song became legendary. Now days even if you have good songs it doesn't matter if you don't have a fandom to make you big...2008-2010 wow in those times everyone knew idols songs...now there are too many groups that sound the same and look the same...now face is more important than music...boring
