  • Beginner crochet designers, you've designed your pattern, now what? In this video I'll go through the questions you need to ask pattern testers.
Testing your patterns with pattern testers is a VERY important part of the crochet design process and therefore you need to know the right questions to ask. I'll help you with this process and pop below some helpful links to support you through this process.

    Where to find testers:
You can find testers on every platform out there. All you need to do is put out a tester call on your socials. However if your following isn't too big at the moment then the best place to go is Facebook. Here is the link to a Facebook pattern tester group which I have used in the past.
    Facebook group - / 802665659839567
    Where I create my patterns - www.canva.com
Where to sell your crochet patterns:
Etsy - get 40 free listings when you sign up using my referral link - etsy.me/3vNUqtv
    Ravelry - www.ravelry.com
Include a range of crochet testers from beginners to advanced.
    List of questions:
    General feedback:
    did the pattern make sense?
    Any unclear parts?
Does it match the difficulty level?
Did they enjoy working on the pattern?
Did they need to change anything?
    Ask for suggestions:
What would they like to see in the pattern?
    Completeness:
Does the pattern have everything listed that they used for the pattern?
Any parts of the pattern missing?
    Accuracy:
    Any spelling mistakes?
    Stitch count match the pattern?
    Do the dimensions match?
What did they do with their gauge swatch? Size up a hook? use a different size yarn?
    Experience:
What yarn did they use? What hook size?
Tell them to think about it as it's their own pattern and what they would have included.
Do the stitch abbreviations make sense?
Did they understand the construction of the pattern?
What would help to make it clearer for them?

I don’t have plans for ever designing my own patterns, but I really enjoyed this video. I learned a lot! Thanks for sharing!
