    I'm a Daejeon citizen who is from Daejeon and has been living until now. It's a video that breaks the preconceived notion of Daejeon. Thank you for your trip to Daejeon.

    It’s my hometown but you guys know so much more than I do 😮 Jangtaesan looks amazing ! Good thing about Daejeon is that it only takes about 50~60 minutes to go to Seoul when taking KTX. I hope you guys enjoy while you’re here(Presumably in Daejeon?)

      We love to explore Daejeon! Yemisi has lived here for a few years, MIchael (me) visits often. And yes, Daejeon is very easy to get to because of the KTX which we love.

    Do you have an area you recommend finding and apartment for the summer in Daejeon? Will be working northwest of expo park. Am I better off staying close to work or being more central and having to commute ? Thx

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Год назад

      Yuseong is a great place to stay for the summer, because it is a very lively area with a lot of food, entertainment and transportation because of the subway station. We also recommend Dunsan for similar reasons.
      Unfortunately, the area north of Expo is probably where the city has the weakest public transport. If you're working near the college (KAIST) then I recommend Yuseong, if you're working near Shinsegae, maybe Dunsan is a better neighborhood for getting to work.

    hi!! how many hours do you reco to roam around jangtaesan forest? are there cafes or should bring snacks when going there?

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  8 месяцев назад

      Its pretty far out, we spent about an hour before it closed, but it definitely wasnt enough because its so beautiful. 2-3 hours should be good! There is a restaurant called Naduri, we haven't been to it but its well rated. There is also a convenience store with snacks, but when we were there later in the day it was closed, so brining a snack could be nice

    This is awesome I am in Daejong right now bored AF as my SO is in a conference our hotel has no pool and just finished a work out and thanks to this post I am off to explore. Thanks again. The lame thing is that as a vegetarian, Korea has no options, seriously like zero. They look at you like if you are from Mars and then they bring you octopus haha

      The air was very clean on the day we took those videos actually, It's just incredibly humid in the summer so even the cleanest air days are pretty hazy. But I agree, the pollution adds a certain... "glow" you could say

    hello, good job. why do people wear mask in Daejeon ?

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Месяц назад +1

      Most of this was filmed in 2020, during the peak of Coronavirus when much of the country was on high alert. These days, most people do not wear masks. Sometimes when the air is bad due to pollution from China or yellow dust people will wear masks, but not usually.

    There's many Southeast Asian tourists including Filipinos in Daejeon right?

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Месяц назад +1

      In general, Daejeon doesn't get a ton of tourists, but yes Fillipino are one of the main people that visit Korea, so a portion of tourists are Fillipino. I think there are many more Fillipino tourists in Seoul, though.

    • @Christian4ever_
      @Christian4ever_ Месяц назад

      @@michaelandyemisi oh wow I didn't know most of tourists in South Korea are Filipinos and I thought it's mostly White/Caucasian people bc some people said that South Koreans are racists or xenophobic to non-White foreigners especially to Southeast Asians

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Месяц назад

      No I did not say MOST of tourist sre Filipino, just that of the tourist that come to Korean, many of them are Filipino due to its proximity to the country. I'm not Korean so I cant speak to the entire country. I have never personally experienced racism or xenophobia, in fact ive only had neutral and positive interactions with Koreans. But I'm sure that is an issue for some people, especially during covid. I think its mostly due to misunderstandings because Korea is vastly a mono culture and is relatively isolated. I'm sure different foreigners have different experiences. ~Michael

      @Christian4ever_ Месяц назад

      @@michaelandyemisi oh yeah, but goodluck to me if I or we go to South Korea and I will pray that I hope we'll have a good experience there but I think if you go to the touristic areas only or if only stay in 1,2 or 3 days you won't have a bad experience or bad experience much there because they're (some South Koreans) already know you'll leave immediately on their country

    • @Christian4ever_
      @Christian4ever_ Месяц назад

      @@michaelandyemisi but the 2 Filipino vloggers telling me and said they're have good experiences there and I think most of Filipino tourists in SK have a good experiences there because I see the videos they're looks happy when they're travelling there and we shouldn't believe in the internet said that most of Koreans/South Koreans are racists,xenophobic or nationalists because not every people in the internet said are true

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Год назад +3

      You definitely should visit! It depends on where you are. In Seoul, there are a lot of people with English skills and lots of signs and transport have English so its not hard to get around. Where we are in the video, Daejeon, there is a lot less English. Important signs have English but not a lot of people speak it. That being said, papago is a great translator, and Korean people are very friendly and usually willing to help out and be nice, especially if you show good respect.

    • @michaelandyemisi
      @michaelandyemisi  Месяц назад

      Any place is boring if you let it be. Life is what you make it, and travel is what you make it! We've been to 20 countries but we still love Daejeon a lot. I think sometimes people assume all of Korea will be as exciting as Seoul, but forget it is one of the largest/densest cities in the world so of course it will have tons to do.
