There's a actually a much easier way 1. save your gen8 figure morph as "shape preset" 2. load up a stock 8.1 figure 3, apply the gen 8.0 morph you saved and apply too all its original 8.0/8.1 mat 3. done! you can now use all 8.1 slider and everything.
Thank you so much! I've been working with my 2 original characters for just over 8 years in Daz Studio and this was literally the easiest conversion upgrade that I've EVER done. You're a genius!
Good video, and thank you, but one thing you might want to add. It would be a good idea to let people know if they use the Dev Load they don't get the eyelashes or tears loaded on the Gen 8.1. I didn't even know those existed until I played around with the base figures.
This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much! I have so much Genesis 8 content now that it literally takes 10 minutes to load Genesis 8 Female into my scene. Out of frustration with how long it takes to load the figure I had started using Genesis 3 again, despite loving Genesis 8 way more. Now I can just save out a few of my most used G8F characters and save them as Genesis 8.1 Females instead. This will be a massive help in speeding up my workflow and get me using Genesis 8 content again. THANK YOU!!
This is one of those tips/tuts where in retrospect I think I should have known how it would work but I didn't until you showed us! Lol. Thanks! Keep 'em coming!
Thanks a lot, really interesting. :) But is there any way to do the same from 8.1 to 8.0? I've tried using the same method, but it doesn't work... (The Character Loading Options box does not appear and therefore only loads a new character superimposed on the other)
I tried this with one of my custom G8 characters, as soon as i try to load it to the G8.1 it attempts to read the asset and then freezes which eventually forces me to close dazstudio
It'll save it for the current scene only. If you want to make it available to other characters in your library, choose File - Save As - Support Asset - Morph Asset. This will bring up a dialogue with options. CAREFUL HERE! I strongly recommend using a new mapped library to save your morph and NOT store it to your current main library. In case something goes wrong (i.e. bad morph dialled up to 100% is now available in every new figure you load), it'll be much easier to find and remove. Good luck :-)
Sure! It's a long term project I'm trying to do, here's my first test episode: ko-fi.com/album/Backstage-Beats-W7W73VAGS. It's designed as a web comic for WebToon and Tapas, I use Clip Studio Paint to put it together. Let me know what aspects of the process you're interested in and I'll see what I can do.
why doesnt this work for me? when i apply the saved character preset to the 8.0 character it just simply loads forever and not do anything until i force quit it.
Great tut! It´s really helpful. Just one question: I accidentally click the load option as my selected preference in tha character loading menu, and now can´t get the character loading menu to click on apply to selected. It just always loads character. Maybe I had the "don´t show option clicked and didn´t realize. I also tried holding control but it´s not working. Maybe I´m doing something wrong... Could you help me, please?
Hi Merce, you can hold down CTRL while loading anything from the library, this will let you choose what to do. There's also an option in Preferences, under Content - Replacement Management, with which you can change your loading defaults (like always ask, always replace etc). Hope this helps!
Thank you! As always clear and very well explained. My problem is that only the body was converted. Long time ago I used a script to convert from G3F to G8F before and loaded with Morph Loader, could that be a problem? Thank you
Is it possible to save the materials and apply options with my new conversion? What I would like is the ability to double-click to load my new 8.1 character and have all the makeup, LIE, and shaping options I would normally have in the character's directory - but specific to my 8.1 conversion.
You can save your figure as a character preset, that will let you specify all these things. Alternatively you can save your character as a Sub Scene, that's what I do as it also includes the clothing and hair.
Hey Jay, Thank You for this tut! 🌹Can i do the same backwards 8.1 2 8.0? And is it possible to save the snow mans head and body seperated as Character and or Material - Shape? And can you do this to make the snow man a 8.0 Female? Hmmm, Bytheway will this duplicating not cause the Duplicate Formulas Found error?
I've never tried, since 8.1 contains all that 8.0 had. You could probably re-create the 8.1 surface zones on 8.0 and apply material presets that way, and you could perhaps create a fit suit of the G8.1 shape and import a character that way. Making the snowman female isn't so easy, but you can use R3DS Wrap to bring the shape onto the G8 figure, although it'll look exactly like the current snowman does. Duplicate formulas shouldn't be an issue as you're only creating a single morph for the shape if any.
@@WPguru Thank you for the answer. A bit to difficult for me I think. Is backwards 8.0 2 3 just as difficult? And what about the skin 8.1 2 8.0 will that just as difficult?
