Great Point. Definitely using this because I hate seeing players waste their Dribble. And if they are anxious and they use the old Triple Threat I was taught it is too easy to put the ball on the floor. Unless maybe I have a kid with a great 1st step that I WANT him to DRIVE every chance he gets... I may still teach him the Old Way.
hmm, we were taught that the shot is always the first option in the triple-threat stance, so this is kind of reinforcing the issue. always look at the basket first...
Have you ever been taught the more Traditional Fundamentals of Triple Threat position? Where you catch the ball and put it in a position where you can 1) Shoot, 2) Pass or 3) Dribble right away. This guy is teaching a Variation of that Fundamental. Try looking about "Basketball Triple Threat Position" for videos or articles with pictures. I bet most that you find will be different that what this guy is teaching. Look for those and you will figure it out.
Dribble is my first option in the triple threat. But I’m a very versatile player so i easily adjust to different game situations. For example I’m not a past first player but I don’t have a problem with passing first. One thing I like about getting assists is that I get the same feeling I get when I score. It’s just like when you’re playing a video game. You didn’t score, the character you’re playing as scored. But you still get excited as if you scored. So passing is just another way of scoring when you look at it. And plus it comes in handy when you’re tired or having an off game offensively or when you have a stubborn defender in you.
Great point. If you're squared up and ready to shoot, you're aggressive. See the floor better and more of an offensive threat. Great advise
