CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Hatcher (Steven Seagal) uses his hand-to-hand expertise to neutralize Screwface's henchmen.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In Marked for Death, Steven Seagal is told to "try to find the gentle person inside yourself." But he doesn't spend too much time looking, preferring instead to crack the spines of his victims. Seagal plays John Hatcher, a burned-out narcotics agent who resigns from the Drug Enforcement Administration after his partner is killed. He returns to his hometown and finds the city in the thrall of a vicious Jamaican drug gang, led by the nasty Screwface (Basil Wallace). He meets an old friend, now a high school football coach, who tells John about losing his best player and his 13-year-old nephew to drug overdoses. Soon John's family is threatened and his prize Mustang stolen, so John joins forces with his buddy to take on Screwface and the drug gang themselves.

Above The Law, Marked For Death and Out For Justice are freaking legendary.
Can't forget under siege
Hard to kill as well
On Deadly Ground… it gave Alaska the movie love it deserved!!!
Marked For Death, Out For Justice, and Under Siege are GOOD movies. Truly awesome.
They are great!!! and also they not only hold up today, they are leaps and bounds better than more modern "action" flicks.
I saw this on opening day back then in '90. The movie theater was PACKED. The arm breaking scene Segall delivered made almost everyone scream....Memories.

reeelup007BKNY reeelup007BKNY he was a very big deal back then
above the law thats very best steven seagal film this according from seagal self
I was in middle school when this came out. Saw it in the theatre as well. The whole audience bursted out laughing when the rastas took the umbrellas and tried to fight off Hatcher. This movie and "Out For Justice" 1991........great films
Дав👍🏾💲🔔👍🏿🎹+
From 1988 through most of the 90s, Seagal’s films were solid cinematic adventures. After the turn of the new century, it went down hill to the point where it’s just unwatchable. Either way, installments like this one, Hard to Kill, and Above the Law were just fantastic! Have to give the guy credit for that!
Ironically that’s when he got picked up by major motion pictures
Under Siege and Out for Justice are another couple great Seagal flicks!
Under seige was really good as well
Things went off the rails for Seagal when he got big and started to get creative control. So, you started getting scripts polished by Seagal himself, the same guy who recorded Songs from the Crystal Cave.
Up until then, when there were adults in charge and all Seagal did was play his role, his movies were excellent.
gotta say his 90s movies had a lot of action and good acting from him
of course in 2000s steven seagals movies became bad
I love how Keith David runs up and gets low to catch dude's jaw piece with that hit. 🤣🤣🤣
Lol. He really tees off on that guy.
I love how Keith misses the whole fight and casually gets a lick on a crippled guy lol
@@pastlink98 At least nobody's trying to make him wear sunglasses.
@@pastlink98 THANK YOU. SIGAL BEAT UP EVERYONE BY HIMSELF AND THEM KEITH DAVID GETS ONE HIT. AND SHRUSA HIM OFF LIKE HE DID SOMETHING
Well, Keith does have friends on the other side…so there’s that…
I always like how the 37th guy thinks it's gonna be different after he sees Seagal beat up 36 guys.
+JohnLoCicero hahaha!
+Will M two breda against 1 whit bway y a know.
JohnLoCicero Kind of like how bad guys and swat see the futility of shooting Robocop and the T-800 yet they continue to waste time and bullets.
It's like they never consider retreat because that would make sense or to them live to fight another day is a dumb philosophy.
Only Clarence Boddicker had the logical brain to see the futility and use a strategic retreat the best option.
I believe the saying "Don't continue to shoot what is obvious you can't damage." applies
I made it up but it fits also Sam shoots at a freakin bulletproof glass door.
It astounds me after 2 shots he would not accept it's futile instead wastes bullets
sooo right
john smith The excercise in futility is entertaining but still makes you wonder why characters don't cease a futile action.
It's entertaining and puzzling at the same time.
Seagal breaks so many bones in this movie, he could make a hundred wishes.
Yet;. Never get one scratch in his face lol my sister don't like them 😂
🤣🤣
I loved how Seagal would just severely injure some people instead of straight up murder. A true humanitarian
😄
😂🤦♂️
He murder one with his own god dam knife.

I asked my Jamaican coworker if this is accurate at all when I showed him this. He couldn’t answer cus he laughing so much, he never seen it.
Some of the best Aikido shown in a movie.
Seagal is using other martial arts here as well, but that was his specialty.
@@danw1374 - Yep he sure is. Spinning that dude in coveralls around and breaking his two arm bones. Totally brutally.

Literally every Rasta slang phrase I’ve heard in music was condensed into this single clip
It's the entire soundtrack of the movie.

I bet every single Jamaican character is played by a British Shakespearean trained actor.
One of the Posse stars in 'Only the strong' with Marc Dacascos. He is also in the MJ video for 'Black or White'

Marked for Death (1990)
LMFAOO Out of order & below the belt. At least it’s not Cool Runnings with the Absolutely atrocious Patois. Americans CANNOT sound Jamaican to save their lives. Not their fault it’s because of their natural accent. I’m British, both parents Jamaican born. As soon as one of them opens their mouth in a Movie/TV Show it’s instant cringe. The guy from Luke Cage season 2 was getting me madder & madder each scene. Nothing wrong with his acting BUT the Jafaken was triggering 🤬
I know ppl mock him nowadays but give the guy some credit, like van damme he got so many people into martial arts, he inspired many.
Im one of them.❤
The people in the mall deserve some kind of reward. Very realistic. A great fight seen.
This is an awesome scene all around.
I like how this series of four films gets even more violent every film. When I was younger I never realized every film was a stand-alone story.
Hard to Kill Marked for Death and Out For Justice could have been a trilogy.
🤣🤣
This scene is iconic
This is why no one messes with Seagull. He's too skilled for the villains
1:03 "a one white bwoy and TWO bruda yano"! 😂😂😂
I ready yu ready?
seagal in his prime kicking ass and taking names...his aikido skills flawless i like the shihonage he does to guy with the knife great Japanese technique he also does tenkan kokyonage
Whoa NERD ALERT!!!! Lol
He’s also does wing chun in a lot of
These fight scenes but never talks about it claiming it’s all aikido. But hey he also claims he met Bruce lee and trained with him. It’s funny cause it never happened.
@Eye Sea Clearly I suppose you think ufc and MMA is the pinnacle of high level martial arts?
@@axelstone3131 yes it is because those are actual fights not choreographed for Hollywood. There’s a reason no real fighters are Aikido specialists
Aikido from this movie is good, but martial art of john wick serie on another level
My favorite movie, as a Jamaican every word said was legit. These were true Jamaicans in this movie, not fake 1s
Well you're partially correct. Few were Jamaicans and Jamaican Americans and the rest are from other Caribbean islands..You could look up the characters..
were they calling Segal a "bloodclot"?
@@kevinpatrickcarey3741 I asked my Jamaican friend. Yes. Apparently, in Jamaica, 'bloodclot' is an insult.
Basil Wallace as Screwface. Such a evil Character. With a sense of Humor
1:24 I could watch this over and over again... that snapping sound is beautiful.
I believe this segals best film. Good story and cool villains
Curtis Donihoo I believe tie with under siege.
*Above The Law* just may be one of cinemas best films.
Out for Justice 👍
Willie Colon yup 💯 many fav too!
it's certainly up there with OUT FOR JUSTICE... good action, excellent directing and editing, and all the acting comes off as believable (even Seagal puts in a comparatively decent enough performance aside from some major lapses here and there). Everything here gets elevated by the horror / mysticism element by the Jamaican blood gangs and their accents certainly add to the fun. OUT FOR JUSTICE had more machismo and some funnier scenes, but sagged from too many montages and go-nowhere side plots. This one stays largely on-target aside from the pointless romance (if you can call it that?) with Joanne Pacula.
The guy at the end - hitting the guy with the gun was the most critical part
LMAO HE WAS ALREADY HURT LMAO FROM SIGAL
DOUBLE IMPACT
This was the movie he displayed his best moves. Henry Silva was the first actor to get the famous reverse arm break. That's his signature move.
Related to the spider?
Say what you want about Steven Seagal, but his martial arts sequences are brutally on point
Yeah, they look realistic, dirty and improvised.
BULLSHIT.!!!

Everytime when I hear these jamaicans talk little jacob from gta 4 comes to my mind.
Lmao his name was Nico in his first film
At 1:24 while Seagal is breaking the thug's arm, you can spot the other one on the left...It's funny that instead of making a move while Seagal is busy with his friend, he waits until Seagal is finished and can divert his attention to him and THEN pulls out his knife and attacks him :)) !
Maybe a movie failure. But Seagal hit him before, so he need a few seconds to regenerate. :)
tamás ujvári, it is explanable.
I like how he's so relaxed and still dominates!
The man that introduced aikido to Hollywood
Keith David was so underrated in this movie, he deseved a little bit more of protagonism.
Berni0707 I don't know about underrated I disagree with that but as for getting more screen time I agree he was a cool other hero that was mostly undershown.
Keith has that rare quality of raising any movie to a different level through his sheer presence. A very rare quality indeed, and really the one you want to have as an actor.
no
Hell yeah. Keith is a badass.
After the pissed off look he gave those drug dealers after his football practice, he really should of had more screen time in the fights. Still badass though.
at 1:29 I can't believe he yelled out Diana ross before he got his head smashed in the glass...he must have been a big fan....
Hahaha nice catch! Yeah kinda did sound like that.
He didn't say that ... He said " I'm tired of your ass " but with Jamaican accent and slang its " tyad ah Yah ras , yah know "
+matt browne No, he said "I'll tear you, rasta!"
Actually he said something like "Damn you rasta". I remember looking at the english subtitles in the languages selection on a DVD set and I do remember that "rasta" was one of the words.
he said I'm tired of your raas nuh
Now that I have dreadlocks it’s hard for me to watch this movie. Lol
YA BAD BWOY! ME YA CARVE YA NOW, BLAARDCLARTT!
There's something amusing about the side-kick knocking out the guy with the broken arm. It's like he came in late but is still determined to contribute something. It also makes the violence so gratuitously excessive that it almost feels self-mocking.
Keith David was such a good sidekick in this film
He was great in The Thing too!!

Merio Carpenter I believe it's a tie this and Under Siege.
A Hardcore violent movie with a ruthless Villain and 1 of the best action movies. The hero hits so hard that it's like he has thunder punches.
Merio Carpenter Hard to Kill was my favorite seagal movie. My dad took us as kids. I think that movie is different to nearly all his other ones. That's the one movie I recall he was
very vulnerable to the enemy and had to overcome a lot ofadversity compared to all other films.

In this sort of combat Aikido is very useful. Its like Krav Maga. Now straight up street fighting or MMA not so much at all. But if someone is attacking you and coming at you especially with a weapon then this art form is very useful.
Combat pragmatism is key.
A few problems with Aikido, say pacifism and complete lack of realistic training in most dojos. I say get into a few street fights first, know what it's like to get a busted up, then proceed with real Aikido training. Sure, not every technique will seem practical at first, learn it anyway. I found it will become beneficial
