The problem is that she didn’t get that crazy relative to whoop joe’s ass at the time. Also it was a mistake not to report it to the police and let the them handle Joe.
She was in a different country and the legal process is very slow for foreigners. I was attacked in Jamaica in the 90's and would of had to stay there 2 mos. if I'd pressed charges.
Met her in Atlanta one night. She was having car trouble and I helped her out. She was very sweet...and fine as hell in person.

This is the most difficult position for a good man to be in: when a woman is “mouthing off” to a man the only thing a good man can do is get between them and make dude stop. As a woman (and I tell my wife this all the time) DISENGAGE with him. Get SILENT. I don’t care WHAT he says about you or to you. Be silent and disengage. Then, you come get a man. Period. Black women have an issue about “shutting up”. That’s hard to defend as a man, to defend a woman’s mouthiness. You are ACTIVELY ANTAGONIZING a situation. I am not saying he was right in any way but SHE WAS NOT EITHER! This is a don’t poke the bear situation. Our women are too masculine and this is a prime example of why women need to have a cut off point. Watch her at 8:07 “you won’t treat another motherfucker like that”. This is the EXACT THING that women should NOT BE doing. Shut. Your. MOUTH. If you’re about to be killed by someone would you load the gun FOR them? Her keeping the situation going is “loading that gun” basically. Black women, I beg and implore you, please…learn when enough is enough! You DO NOT always need to have the last word. You do not need to keep a situation going. You do not need to look like a “boss” all the time. This is proof positive that type of stuff does not work in your favor.
I understand that this incident happened years ago but I am disgusted that other men were there and they let this woman get assaulted. Unfortunately, there are a lot of boys masquerading as men who believe that violence against women because of a feeling of disrespect is a sign of their strength. When I was growing up if the drug dealers in my neighborhood saw a man beating a woman, he left the block in an ambulance. For all of their deviant behaviors they were not about violence against females. Today, this idea is lost to many boys who are masquerading out in these streets and the community first and foremost should be the ones to address this problem. Just an opinion that I believe.

It's not that simple all the time. I can recall an incident whereby some friends were all together at my buddy's house. Anyway, 1 of the dudes has a baby momma who has some mental illness and she tends to create violent situations. This time, she threw something at him and it landed in his face; hard. Of course, the dude got up and started smacking her up. Nobody moved a muscle. I knew it was part of the culture of their relationship so nobody did anything. But once he started stomping on her as she was prone, I had to do something because that could kill her. This all happened in a split second. And as it is, they're working on their 5th kid and neither party is even 30yrs old. There's no college degree between them but there are at least 2 felonies. The overall outlook for that family isn't optimistic. She gets beaten up and keeps climbing into bed with him.
That's not an uncommon tale either. I've seen a 3rd party try to break up a fight and the quarreling parties turn on the peacemaker.
And while this is a unique situation in that it's colleagues, I think it's also worth considering that fights are seldom 1-sided. Now if Joe was stomping her and shit, he was out of order. But the whole, "never raise your hand at a woman" thing ignores the fact that women raise their hands at men assuming their vaginas make them exempt from regular decorum.
I did the same after my children's father raped me. I thank God for my self defense class. Knowledge is key to self preservation. FACTZ

Never heard this unfortunate story before. Sorry it happened to the sister. But, I know from personal experience that Joe Torry is a punk ass bitch. I was in the gym, getting on the leg press, when Torry yells from fifteen feet away, "Hey! I'm using that!" I looked up to see him and two or three other dudes staring back at me. I yelled back, "Come get it!" His response was to repeat himself even louder. So I repeated myself emphasizing each word..."Come...Get...It!" A few seconds of "mad dogging" then I took my time, and enjoyed my workout. And nothing else was said.

This beautiful sister's story is vital to be told about this perpetrator, Joe Tory. Joe told this story as if he was attacked and brushed it under the rug. This is the real man, abuser, and how he treats women especially his colleague and sister.
Wasted my money a few weeks back on his show at the improv. I literally fell asleep. He was horrible...and drunk.

One thing I know as a woman, if you've been attacked by a man, it's a violation. It's not a good feeling, at all. Sexually, physically, it doesn't matter. There's a feeling of powerlessness that comes over you. And I'm glad that she mentioned being in the company of a lot of men and their actions if they so desire. Being a woman is a responsibility. Plenty of women have found themselves in some tight spots, and wondered how they got there. A lot of women have gotten into situations that ended in fatality. We as women have to be conscious of what we say and do. There are a good amount of men that have zero respect for an empowered woman.

And we as women have to be conscious of what we SAY and DO." In other words be aware of your environment at all times. Just because someone is your coworker that doesn't make them a friend. I was just watching an interview Guy Torrey did awhile back talking about his turbulent relationship with his brother, even called him a narcissist and he’s from Saint Louis. I grew up there and they (as well as a lot of dudes from the Midwest) are some of the ragedyest IGGAS on the face of this earth.

@Thunderous O No I'm not telling because one its done and over and I already did on a radio show. And on here its to must typing and I don't really spend my day on here like that...I just came across it. But please trust me when I tell you she is not telling all the truth she making out as he beat her up and we and I say we men the 2 of us that was in between them Kenny and I was on Joe and all he did was smooch her and she did fight back and we say he got the worst of it. because we grab him. Now yes he was wrong for the smooching her but trust me when I say she really provoked him. She never told what she did she made it out as she was the victim and that's why you people are jumping on her side. She belittle me when she talks to men. And all men are different she had a go at me at the airport because thinks are not going her way...And I said to her to "just chill it not in hour control" and got off call me mother you chill. And I unlike Joe I put her in her place without putting my hands on her. But at first I want to smack to the airport floor. But that how she is trust me other comedians know as well promoters. That's it I'm done bless.

I've met, interacted & have seen Vanessa perform here in STL on countless occasions in the early 2000s & she's ALWAYS been fun, friendly & nothing short of REAL. I truly hate that this happened to her, especially by a fellow comedian from STL. Breaks my heart to hear that no one stood up for or protected her. Glad she took charge of her life & took a course to protect herself. All women need self defense classes.
