@@xerael4659 Concentration is an interesting thing. In 5E, a caster could only concentrate on one spell at a time; but there was no such limitation in previous editions. The point of concentration is that it could be broken by damage and/or environmental effects, thus ending the active spells.
In situations like this, people who read the light novels usually say "it was better in the source material." But, the ar of Shield Hero that was adapted for season 2 was boring even in the LN. So, there's really no excuse on that one.

In 5e Magic missile is 3 arrows, and for each subsequent level gives +1 arrow, which would make sense as the guy has already sent out 2 fireballs (or 3, kinda hard to remember atm, misa tired) So he's down to 1 3rd level spell, he used lesser strength, lesser dexterity, which I would reason to be 2nd level spells in 5e, and then haste which is a 3rd level, but I'm sure is equivalent to 3rd level as well as it's so powerful. This implies he has 3 3rd level spells (level 6) or 3 3rd level spells + 1 4th level spells (level 7, sheesh, Mithril Adventurers are no joke) in 5e. I know it's based of 3.5e but I try to translate it into 5e for my own sake, as I tried 3.5e on it's way out, saw the issues and unnecessary complications (for normal people, like my group), saw 5e and never looked back. Death Knights are lvl 35 undead (not 45 as many think) and are the lowest of the middle class undead. So they are effectively just foot soldiers to Ainz.
In that world, anybody over level 30 is in the realm of heroes. Gazef was one of the strongest humans in that world. That should've already shown the difference lol.
He showcase in the Katze plain war that he can summon a thousand of them from Nazarick in less than 10 s it takes Adamantite adventurers class to take down 1 theorycally when for Ainz they are just low class undead which he can create hundred a day so yeah Ainz is basically God and to him it isn't even exaggerating saying humans are insect in comparison ( + he can literally play god by deciding who lives who die and resurrect people if he wants to)
I would argue the sheer amount of them is what she meant. In normal combat I imagine a volley of a wide arrange of elemental attacks would stop most opponents to atleast take some sort of defensive manor to reduce it while he simply charged through
Plus, she said about 2 min earlier that you can't tell how much HP an undead has because they won't be crippled by wounds or pain, so I don't quite follow how she thought that anything other than outright killing if would have any effect.
She was one of my favorite designed chars, armored with an battle ax you never see it in movies or anima but it was rather common. When you do see axes in Anima or movies its depicted as the weapon of barbarians, there ware plenty of fully armored knights that used the ax. William de Brus used a battle ax and he could afford expensive swords chose the ax, great vs armored and unarmored foes
For reference. A Death Knight is level 35. Mithril adventurers are level 21 to 23. A 10 level difference is impossible to overcome. The fact they did so well is impressive

I kind of found “lesser strength” the name of the spell at least confusing as in it would be a debuff spell but thinking about it, it just probably means you require less strength to attack
It's just a prefix to denote how powerful a buff is. Some systems use Minor-Lesser-Intermediate-Greater-Divine-True, but it's easy to substitute any number of superlatives.
If it was "lessen strenght" than I would agree, but it's called lesser, as in minor or weak. Its saying that the spell itself is a powered down version of a stronger spell.

An adamantit adventurer saved them. (Ultra easily + ultra no diff)
Oh your gonna like the the movie and its from the holy kingdom where it will take place too (i think)
Carly Simon wrote a song about that.....
That's a cool stat boost you got there, it be a shame if a level 50 prankster murkrow with haze came along...
The thought of a Murkrow just casually riding on the shoulder of a Death Knight for the exact scenario.
Or maybe it's equipment was enchanted by an Unaware Quagsire.
That doppel skill was pretty cool. If you miss once, then the second attack will hit.
She is a great character, I hope we get to see more of her in the future
You can see here that despite the Deathknight being an overwhelming foe for the adventurers they still manage to hold their ground for much more time than most enemies of Nazurick, thats actually impressive.
Not that it matters much in the end. Power dictates everything and eventually, your tricks will run dry.
She might be just a Mithril-level adventurer, but those were clearly adamantine balls right there.😤
Four Armaments were pretty cool, not to mention the whole shotacon nun interaction was just hilarious.
Feels like scama is not mithril level she way more adamantine that she can even fight a level fourty five
@@gameuniverse5973 Death Knights are level 35, Ainz confirms it in volume one, but they have a defensive stat of a level 45 monster, look it up if you don't believe me because you have it wrong.
Hilarious? Nah bro, that girl was weird and creepy asf.
@@gameuniverse5973 she was buffed with magic, and was really only able to dodge by the skin of her teeth. Not to mention it's focus was on 4 different foes
@@fAKSDFKamsdf Hilarious, creepy, and weird aren't really mutually exclusive terms, are they?
So many classic stacking buffs from D&D, all of 1st to 3rd level spells. // Anti-Evil Protection (aka Protection from Evil) grants +5 to defenses vs evil creatures, grants immunity to charm, fear & possession. // Lesser Strength (aka Bull's Strength, Lesser) grants +4 to Strength score, effectively giving a +2 to melee attacks & athletics skill. // Lesser Dexterity (aka Cat's Grace, Lesser) grants +4 to Dexterity score, effectively giving a +2 to some defenses & acrobatics skill. // Protection Negative Energy (aka Resist Energy) grants 10 points of damage reduction vs negative energy, aka necrotic damage attacks. // Haste grants double movement rate, +2 to some defenses, and increased weapon attack speed; a moment's lethargy when the spell ends.
They didn't go nearly as far as i thought they would. Blur, some form of elemental weapon buff, few other defense boosts, but then in Wrath of the Righteous you need to drop every buff you can before the big fights and that's the DnD game I've played the most recently.
You speak funny words, magic man.
Tell me more about the skills and buffs of this "DND."
That's a lot of concentration spells for me...
@@xerael4659 Concentration is an interesting thing. In 5E, a caster could only concentrate on one spell at a time; but there was no such limitation in previous editions. The point of concentration is that it could be broken by damage and/or environmental effects, thus ending the active spells.
And thus the Waifu of the season goes to Scama. Seriously idk why but I've been obsessed with her ever since I saw her in the op.
Is it weird i prefer scama with the helmet than when she does not have it on it makes her seem more serious
Same, she gives me dark souls vibes
I prefer shota nun yo waifu
For once the troops stayed INSIDE the castle to defend it.
Also shotacon priestess is my favorite new character.
I wish to be a shota in The arms of a girl like she
ah yes ive think ive found another man/girl of culture
Man Overlord IV had a much better start then Shield Hero season 2
thats why I dropped shield hero season 2 after 2 eps haha.. I dont know but I dont feel it like the 1st season
It's not even close
In situations like this, people who read the light novels usually say "it was better in the source material." But, the ar of Shield Hero that was adapted for season 2 was boring even in the LN. So, there's really no excuse on that one.
It was utter garbage. I watched the entire season while skipping through like mad, I just couldn't even be bothered to care about any of the characters.
But doesn’t ainz have validated plot armor
1:21 Death Knight-kun be like "I'm not stuck to the ground, the ground is stuck to me!"
0:53 D&D 3.5 *Magic Missle* "For every two caster levels beyond 1st, you gain an additional missile - two at 3rd level, three at 5th"
Man I love how accurate this show is with it's D&D references. (Though he did cast one too many spells for a 6th level wizard, even considering bonus spells from high INT and assuming his flight comes from a magic item!)
For magic missile in overlord, it's one arrow per tier you know
In 5e Magic missile is 3 arrows, and for each subsequent level gives +1 arrow, which would make sense as the guy has already sent out 2 fireballs (or 3, kinda hard to remember atm, misa tired)
So he's down to 1 3rd level spell, he used lesser strength, lesser dexterity, which I would reason to be 2nd level spells in 5e, and then haste which is a 3rd level, but I'm sure is equivalent to 3rd level as well as it's so powerful.
I'm sure if I was older my opinion would be different.
The writer was a big D&D guy. It's very likely he translated his+friends adventures into Overlord which is why there are so many similarities.
@@atypewriter To be fair, I've thought of doing that myself. Our campaign is about to hit 4 years, and we have no signs of stopping for another 4 xD
The only thing that has threatened it thus far is COVID and the unfortunately departure of one of the original party members as he was too busy and far away to attend.
@@daringdarius5686 I think scheduling issues and such were the driving factor for Overlord as well. Mangaka couldn't play, so he was reliving his past campaigns :P
You see them having trouble with one of them and Ainz can literally make hundreds of the things.
The priestess is thirsty ASF
@Davi after this she is never mentioned again
And remember - the death knights are Nazarick's RANK AND FILE.
That lady's anti Evil protection should be preventing her from picking the unripened fruit. 🍓
The stone tile coming loose while the Knight proceeded was only one of the great attentions to detail shown here. I'm off to rewatch again 😂😂
Hope we see more of scama she looks cool
You know what one of the best parts is? Scama's armor, not a bikini disguised as armor or made for fan service.
And it sexy as f$ck. female armour here is amazing.
I mean Albedo has an even more extreme version of that. It's almost like tanks were designed to dress the part unlike every other show.
I think you mean worst part.
Clementine had a high dex build.
@if7723 unfortunately albedo's armor isn't very realistic
That double block is just perfect! 0:57
I was really expecting her to get completely blown away or have her face smashed in, so I was legit surprised and still am to say XD
I love how the death knight kindly answers the audience's question, _"What does Doppel do? Would having two axes be useful?"_ by throwing two logs at her to conveniently chop through
Fun fact: If the death warrior (the one with two swords) would have charged first, is very likely that it could have being defeated as he has high attack stat but low defense. The death knight is the opposite, concentrating more in defense.
"We did it! It took a lot but we finally defe-"
Ainz: "Here 5 more lol, the first one used to pick up the vegetables at the farm, the third is called Bonzo he works at the fast food restaurant."
This really does just show how strong ainz is. He creates death knights easily, but you don’t see them in action much, only seeing ainz bodying people, so seeing something so weak to him, still bodying people, really says a lot.
I mean dead knights are not the strongest undead ainz can make
Death Knights are lvl 35 undead (not 45 as many think) and are the lowest of the middle class undead. So they are effectively just foot soldiers to Ainz.
In that world, anybody over level 30 is in the realm of heroes. Gazef was one of the strongest humans in that world. That should've already shown the difference lol.
He showcase in the Katze plain war that he can summon a thousand of them from Nazarick in less than 10 s it takes Adamantite adventurers class to take down 1 theorycally when for Ainz they are just low class undead which he can create hundred a day so yeah Ainz is basically God and to him it isn't even exaggerating saying humans are insect in comparison ( + he can literally play god by deciding who lives who die and resurrect people if he wants to)
when she said "it can still move after all those attacks[ I was like... but those were the most shittiest attacks ever, of course it can move.
Nazarick regular soldiers are final bosses anywhere else.
The fact they did so well is impressive
shows how lucky the troll dudes were
The most important part was Red Drop and Azuth Aindra appearing with his red armor, that armor is special.
SPOILER.
Its a YDGRASSIL item, from the original game that allows the user (newbies) to catch up with veteran players, also the novel explain that the item was designed to attract the Meca fan players, but also has some weakness. Probably will be explained in the next episode, but i dont think the will make in deep explanation here.
Albedo will have some fun in the future chasing that armor, as we can see in the opening lol
SPOILER
I like how the armor is “between” being powerful against level 35 enemies (DK) but is nothing compared to min/maxed Albedo (where Azuth knows he stood no chance).
Didn’t ainz say that of the the supreme being of nazarick got some mech armour too and they have some of them in the tomb of nazarick
@@TherealBrianmoser17 Yeah, that is mentioned in the original comment. They are NOT powerful compared to any competent player, or anyone at level 100 with decent gear.
You already spoiled it before the spoiler tag
@@jerin237 hmmm, fair point. I will edit my comment so you have to hit “more” to see it
I honestly can't make fun of her over how many buffs she needed. Ainz read his entire College Thesis before fighting Shalltear.
But I'm rooting for these guys. The ants think they have chance at spitting in the face of god, and who doesn't like to see an underdog story? But if they hurt a hair on the head of anyone in Nazarick, they are going to be a stack of parchment!
Don't worry, the people of that city have luck on their side, Ainz wants to make the NPCs happy and Pestonya requested him to leave more survivors.
Nah i am gonna root for my boi the pdl second best char in overlord after ainz the best char in overlord
Ainz also is a roleplay build not meant for actual fighting outside the occasional PvP against a min-max single target monster among monsters that is literally stronger than him in battle
@@mateomorales1653 ainz says that but he killed shalltear fair and square the first time which shalltear meant too take multiple players but ainz did it solo with him nerfing himself by not using the staff, his equipment, and any world items
I love how she's using an axe instead of a sword and how acrobatic she is in full armor.
lets all savour this, because this is the only scene we will ever see Scama ever again.
0:27 - did anyone else hear the Vine "Boom" sound effect?
1:13 Me when I hear someone mentioning a show I like.
The Doppel skill she has is so simple but one of my favorites in the anime.
Overlord doesn’t disappoint! I’m really looking forward to this season’s finale!
Someone using proper armor in anime: Impossible
Big dark souls vibes
Totally
Dodge!
Most other chars just dodge but scama seems more trying too tank the attacks
she looks like a female version of creighton from dark souls 2
remember guys, a death knight would be a minor incovinience to a player in YGGDRASIL
Wake up its Overlord Tuesdays
Finally we get to see that axe wielding knight lady. The opening really got me curious about her.
Shout out to the one confused guy thinking they cast lesser strength on ainz in the gladiator pit vs Foresight its a buff as seen here just cause its "lesser" doesnt mean its worse just lower tier >^,^
Just wait untill they find out that was just ONE of the thousands of frontline footmen of Ainz's army.
@Mikkel
ainz can make 10 free death knights per day.
Announce Overlord V, can't wait for it to come soon enough! loved the latest one with the "Ainz" battle! :-D
For a moment I thought that they will be the first to defeat a Dead Knight
Man the death knights are in my opinion the coolest summoned minion
When they realize he has an army of Death Knights they will give up
You know it's good when they start stacking their buffs
Someone should promote this group to orichalcum or something. They look so much better than the average mithril in the LN
It's crazy to think about it that it took so much for people considered very strong in their world just to defeat 2 death knights
I love the spells in this anime is really like dungeons and dragons
This at first feels like a oh my they can actually hold them back moment for only a few seconds until you realize that they can field countless thousands of those things with no real effort.
Now that flash in the sky in the OP makes a lot of sense now
That's how u do an OP.....don't want OPs showing direct footage ie AoT s3 p2 op
well it's fine, an opening should garner hype for the series. in overlord, there are lots of new characters so just them showing up is hype, while for aot s3 p2, there aren't really new characters and rather recurring ones, so just showing them won't be hype, you need some action.
@@asianpersuasion4901 yea but it's showing what's happening in the last few EPs aka spoilers in the intro/op
S2 AoT op is a perfect example. No spoiling, it shows action but not what literally happens in the show. Like Mikasa boosting Eren and they transform with the colossal titan making debri, everyone dodging.
Same for op 1, everyone jumping off the wall etc
@@asianpersuasion4901 overlord op, exciting to see the new groups of ppl. Like the group who fought 2 death knights etc
That second death knight bolting was like “BROTHER!!!!!!!!! I WILL ASSIST YOU!!!!!!!”
Too bad Deathknights cant use those Martial Art abilities like them, they would be an even more terrifying force to be reckoned with
Now this is what we’ve been waiting for.
The fact that Ains minions are enough to win the game
Love how that death knight wasn't unique in any way in comparison to the army of them that they have and yet it's still enough to destroy squads of heros
"And the winner is" Neither of you
Literally nothing happened this season but this fight was cool
Despite the obvious handicap between the team and Death Knights; they did good in terms of teamwork.
"If my legs are glued to the ground, I'll just lift the ground!"
What i liked about this anime is that a group of people could take down a strong enemy. Just like a group of players can take down a strong boss in games. Even if it takes hours
death knight 2 " yo are those the new earth force 1s "
😏 and they thought only sending two was an insult 🤣🤣🤣
i want a soulslike overlord game
I can hear the rock eyebrow meme at 0:27
shes doing one handed backflips in full armour.
"All of that...for a drop of blood." - NPCs struggling to defeat undead warriors Ainz can summon on a whim with virtually zero MP cost.
This monster is dangerous! It wields the power of CGI!
Scama is cool, nun is cultured.
@@Kommunismus Mass, twinned, maximized adjectives are a spellcasters playground.
I feel bad for anyone who fights anyone from the Sorcerer Kingdom.
somehow I absolutely don't remember this part from the lightnovel, and that was really fun to read tbh.
I'm here begging and praying she wouldn't die
Yall better not sleep on death knight
Good times, nothing beats a siege of undead.
Love this anime series, I hope it continues with the same quality.
0:28 sudden vine boom sound
For all enchant, just press B
The thristy nun is my spirit animal...I am also into collecting rare an legendary weapons in games.
