@@generalbutterscotch4887 Unfortunately though, you don’t get to hear it much because most of the map will be Defective (Frenzy) as Nil attacks Nel pretty much every turn.
This whole place gave me Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams vibes as a twisted version of the main world where you have to save those you can from these nightmarish dimensions with everything out to get you being a phantom of a still living character from the main universe.
The difference there is that despite the sense of danger and urgency, you're still compelled to press onwards and save Leon. Whereas this song is complete and utter sadness at the fact that the world is beyond saving and is fated to die a slow and painful death. All you can do is give mercy killings to those you face, whom have also lost something(or someone) meaningful to them.
This and bright sandstorm are my favs. And between those two, I think I’ll have to go with this one. Although they are both refreshing and slap so hard my grandchildren will feel the slap.
Everyone’s talking about the guitar, but the orchestral swell at 1:13 with the violins and guitar playing that harmony always elicits a profoundly somber emotion within me That part reminds me of someone pleading, “You don’t have to do this” amidst all the chaos in the middle of battle

Spoilers for the end of this route: Nil really could have just, waited slightly longer. Their plan was to gather all the bracelets anyway, so he should have waited till they actually got to the Fallen Somniel to betray them. It would've made it so much more shocking to everyone. But I guess he wanted a chance to pick them off 1 by 1? He just... didn't exactly do a good job of that lol
@@Luchux177 . . . . I feel like unlike Veyle, Nil wasn’t being directly mind controlled. His personality doesn’t change, nor does his manner of speaking or anything. Yeah, he had the influence of Sombron through that spell, but it was more like… I dunno, what’s the opposite of a soothing medication lol. Not quite like a “depressant” or such, but like, the spell basically seemed like a “substance” that drove him to be more angry and impulsive. But even once he’s out of it’s influence, it’s not like he was “drunk” and forgot or that Sombron had controlled him or anything. But it’s kinda like being “buzzed” or something, but in a violent impulse way, rather than a “hey how you doinggggg” type way. That’s how I read it. So basically, yes, Sombron influenced him against his will and knowledge. However, he still had enough control over his actions and thoughts that he wasn’t outright absolved of accountability, unlike Veyle
Nel didn't know where the Edelgard bracelet was, but assumed Sombron or his heir had it. Only Nil knew where it was, and he'd out himself if he told anyone.
@@auraguard0212 this is a good point, but considering both Nel and Nil try to be secretive and manipulative, I personally think Nil could have concocted some sort of at least half truth that would make them get where they needed. Like even just going “I know there was a bracelet vault in the Somniel, should we check there?” Wouldn’t have given him away (and would have even seemed pretty logical, as Alear would go “yep we have one of those in my world, that’s a good idea”), but still get them into a much more surprising situation

I was actually thinking that this gives me a very similar feeling of defeat and acceptance as Freedom and Security from P5. Not the exact same as that one is a little more ominous and this one sad instead.
I'm still holding off on getting Engage because of several issues it has, ESPECIALLY the DLC with how haphazardly it was put together to scam people out of an extra $30, from the awfully balanced character stats, disappointing rewards, and the fact that you have to beat the entire side story on every new save file if you want the rewards, which also are very disappointing for all the effort you have to put in, at least from the playthroughs I've watched. But the side story has an interesting premise that the music here fits exceptionally well: an entire world that is slowly dying because the original inhabitants sacrificed everything to stop the main threat, including their own lives. Now all that's left are reanimated corpses which are completely turned into monsters, or ones that seem human, but are little more than empty shells with no will of their own set on ending you, with their true minds only revealing themselves before you finish them off for good. There is no happy ending, all you're doing is putting them out of their misery and this whole world will perish soon afterwards.
I think the base game is well worth it, it offers some of the best gameplay in the franchise and the characters are goofy but really charming. The replay value is also massive as I'm on my third playthrough and still going, the free updates that came with it made it even better. While the xenologue isnt as good to play I do think the emblems are well worth it for how fun they are so you can just buy them separately
I like the DLC. It provides optional, alternative challenges, with low-ish story stakes (Nil claiming the assassination in Fell Xenologue 1 was a murder-suicide attempt aside).

That moment when you realize that every single enemy in this DLC is corrupted.

Really fits the vibe for a dying alternate world where everything went wrong and all hope is as good as lost.

Funny how similar this theme is to Broken Bonds.
Considering the fate of the Alternate Elyos even before the reveal, this does make sense.
