Maybe in the next SEGA All-Stars game they can have Orbot and Cubot as flag men. They are Eggman's bumbling henchmen so there shouldn't be any problem with them being unplayable. Or maybe there shouldn't be any flag person at all, just lights counting down.

Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing just had such an "FUN" feeling everytime I played it on my Wii. Will never forget the chaos of the game and absolute crazy fun levels and I can't remember if Ant talked about this in his video but what made the first game more fun then Mario Kart was the sense of speed and THE COMMENTATOR ABSOLUTELY CARRIED PLEASE BRING HIM BACK SEGA.

One thing I really liked in the original All-Star Racing is the multiple options in selecting music in tracks, kinda like "My Music" from Smash Bros.

Agreed, I'm so sick of hearing that. Asking why Sonic isn't just running instead is like asking why a golfer doesn't just pick up the ball and drop it in the hole, or why a bowler doesn't just walk over and kick the pins down: it isn't the point of the sport. Vehicle racing isn't just about finishing the fastest, it's about doing so through skillful driving, which (to state something that SHOULD be obvious) is a completely different skill than running fast.

There actually is an explanation for the Wisps still being around.
The comics that continue Sonic Forces' story mentions that most Wisps decided to stay with Sonic and friends.

i’m hoping that sumo goes absolutely nuts for the next one and just does transformations, bigger roster, more zones, and has the team mechanics. transformations and team mechanics are both way too fun for either to be excluded in a future title

@@anonymoustroll2432 I hope one day SEGA will make a third All Stars Racing (Not counting Team Sonic Racing) and maybe new characters like Kiryu and Majima from the Yakuza series or maybe Toejam and Earl could be playable racers I mean possibilities are endless but what we got instead was Team Sonic Racing which was such a disappointing game since they removed the SEGA characters and replaced them with Sonic's annoying friends and that's ashamed because I am a huge fan of SEGA's franchises (except Sonic) but who knows maybe one day SEGA will make a true sequel to All Stars Racing or even make a SEGA Smash Bros.

"Clone" is a disparaging term.
This is a subgenre of racing games, not Mario Kart clones. Games like Transformed don't play like Mario Kart, from the controls to the dynamics mid-race.

When I heard that Sonic Team Racing would incorporate the whole teamwork thing as a necessity for gameplay, it was an instant turnoff for me. Transformed satisfied everything SEGA for me that was definitely lacking in the Sega racing and Sonic team racing games.

100% agree with this, I've seen so many people say Team sucks cause it's a "downgrade" from Transformed but people miss the point that this is supposed to be it's own unique beast, a one-of-the-kind Team-focused kart racer. Both can standalone on their own as different things, one as a more team focused game and one as a more single person competitive game.
I think if they continue the series, the next one should merge the two styles. Bring back the transforming mechanic, other franchises, and have two modes (single and team play) that way it's the best of both styles.
Hot take: I’m a Sonic fan that likes most Sonic games.
I'm not sure if it was stated by one of the developers, but the wisps are now basically an invasive species on Sonic's homeworld thanks to Eggman's meddling.
I'd be fine with that if they didn't have less characters than in transformed. At the very least, team jet should have been in there.

The first All-Stars racing will always have a very special place in my heart! Play all of the trilogy in my opinion!
I got the first two sonic all star racing games in a bundle on Steam, and the second one was amazing. I recently got a switch, and I got mario kart 8, and was surprised to find it was actually worse than sonic and all stars racing transformed. It seems very lacking in content, lack of variety, lack of tracks, etc. Like I "beat" the game on the first day on the 200cc mode. But yeah sonic and all stars racing Transformed was amazing with the variety of what you actually do, like whole laps you'll be flying, then back to racing on the ground, or sometimes you're in like a jet ski or something. It's just so cool.
I haven't played the new sonic one on switch yet, I'll probably get it one day. But I wanna try the Crash Bandicoot one first when that comes out cos I only ever rented it like once in the PS1 days

It’s really cool how the tracks are based off of other zones from Sonic games. I wish Mario Kart had some actual Mario locations within the games, but whatever. It would probably be hard since most levels are named after two numbers.

SEGA used to make worthwhile
video franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog (only during the Classic Era, Dreamcast Era and partially the 2010s Era. And perhaps the 2020s era, Super Monkey Ball, Ristar, NIGHTS Into Dreams, Jet Set Rafio, Billy Hatcher, Space Channel 5, Shenmue and Billy Hatcher.
I played the first one so many times and it was my go to Wii game especially when friends came over didn't really play the second one that much but I absolutely love team sonic racing and I haven't had that much fun in a sonic game for years throughly loved it
Sonic Rivals 1 and 2 were really good
I've had a terrible first impression from the online mode in TSR:
Seconds before a match begins, my human team members are sorted into different teams (all Emerald ranks in one), leaving me (Silver rank) stuck with two useless AI and an extremely unfair disadvantage.
Every time.
The ai sucks in the game and all the people who SEGA gave a review copy to and gave them invites to events aren't commenting on it. I think they are shilling without realizing it.
I honestly don't have much of an issue with the AI. Usually whatever place I'm in their not that far behind or around me. It's often harder for me to get a teammate up to the top three when they're way back however.
Also yeah, they really botched the online aspect. It needs a complete rework. Can't find a game most of the time.
aaaand that's one of the reasons I hate online play!
You're welcome for the Banjo footage, also great video, Sumo Digital did really well with the Sonic Racing games and I hope they'll amp it up while keeping the Team mechanic, maybe even throwing some Riders elements into the mix.

Great review. I never played the first one, and played Transformed when it was free with XBOX Gold. Had fun with it. Got Team Sonic Racing for my birthday this year, and have been playing it with my kids. Sure they aren't great at racing games (almost 6 and almost 7 years old), but they are still having lots of fun. It's really fun on weekends when my husband can play too and all 4 of us can play. Great family time. Just wish a few more people had it on xbox...playing online is near impossible. Maybe they'll be a few more online with Summer starting soon. But at 37...do I really want to beat a bunch of kids? yes...yes I do.
Also, now super nostalgic for R. Played it a TON on my PC as a teen. I still use the CD as a CD in my car to listen to the songs.
Like you said, I'll still hold Transformed up there with the best the kart genre has ever had to offer. Team Sonic Racing is still great, but it's a distant second to Transformed for me as far as the Sonic Racing games go!

The fact that I only played two other games besides sonic featured here (and one of them is just Puyo Puyo from one of the brief clips of the tennis game) really says something about Sega’s impression on modern generations.
