The tape recorder "Ритм-Репортёр" 25Д57М" has been produced by the Leningrad enterprise "Lomo" since 1977. The tape recorder is included in the КЗМП7М reportage recording complex and is intended to be used both with the complex and autonomously for synchronous recording of sound accompaniment in off-site conditions of reportage or feature film filming. The tape recorder operates both from an autonomous power supply and from a 220 V AC network via a remote power supply.
there is a switch "ускор ход" on the right to the main play/right selector which means "sped up play" maybe if you can record with this switch on you could then slow down the recording by switching it off during play. or just speed up your recordings :) hope this helps
I was telling my kid today about how Hainbach always says "Hi, I'm Hainback, it's good to have you back", and he said: "What did he say in the FIRST video?"
I see that whoever packed the equipment for shipping subscribes to the same methodology that I do when shipping gear, that of the "Nuclear Bunker School"
LOMO made excellent high quality audio-visual gear for the Soviet internal market. Their bokeh-licious projection lenses are now highly sought after for conversion to digital capture by photographers everywhere. A very piece of kit.
Oh wow. That battery belt gave me a film school flashback to the belts we used for the 16mm cameras. Of course, we generally didn't wear them, but instead wrapped them around the tripod below the camera.
Your Wires collaboration with AudioThing was outstanding. A lot of us will never be able to afford real gear like this, so I'm hoping you guys can do more projects together, more Hainbach-approved emulations of incredible gear like this. This machine sounds so good --- so full of character, just like you said.
i have no idea how youtube recommended this channel to me. YES, I am interested in all things synth and YES, I do music production and have for years, but never have I ever looked this stuff up. I'm watching every video you have put out! I subscribed and I'm following your bandcamp. Great content brother. I own a Yamaha djx2, microkorg, and a kawai sx-240 is the oldest thing in my possession. I mostly just use Reason, but I love older equipment like this! You remind me of my friend, Hunter, who is about your age, same hair, glasses. He owns a bunch of older sequencers and effects like this. When we jam, it's madness! I've done nothing to let youtube lead me to this channel, but I'm glad it did.
In my case I can understand it, because I expressed some interest in Synthesizers and music electronics and also vintage sound equipment, as old reel recorders etc.
That fantastic Soviet Guitar Effects wrapping... Half the fun of getting it is peeling away the tape. They're wonderful and everything I've bought from them has found a place as my favorite gear to use.
Wow I haven't seen a head demagnetizer like that in so long! Also loving your sweater, and cool to see your comfort level with doing your own repairs and adjustments rise.
@@Hainbach Yep! I used to use those at my old work at a University. Somehow it didn't occur to me to check and see if anybody else had identified it in the comments yet, I guess I assumed someone would have!
That tape slewing could be creatively used, if it's found to be a characteristic of the machine. If not, and maintenance is likely to fix it, record a lot of slewing and keep for future projects. Sweater game is still on top!! 😉👍
really a shame to see that all these great and wonderfull electro mechanical machines dissapear to the benefit of digital recording and computers. but thanks for still using them in your music, and thanks for taking the time to make another great video...
The device at 1:24 seems like a head and/or tape degausser. Put all your credit- and ID cards with a magnetic strip or RFID chip at a safe distance and try to plug it in. If it just buzzes it's probably that.
When you have tested it, you can send it to me ....;) The red light is blinking because LOMO's camera production was just a side project. LOMO was much into optics and optical instruments for aviation. LOMO, actually stans for - Leningradskoe Optical-Mechanical Combinat (Combinat was a sort of factory made up of several functions and divisions) PS. I missed an Olimp-004 a few years ago. My brother in law had just passed away and me and my wife was staying for a few weeks in his apartment preparing to sell it. In his possession was an Olimp-004, but I never brought that with me back home ...
9:24 but usually, the tape would be edited. On the other hand, it saves battery power, when the motor doesn't run all the time, so it's a minor disadvantage to start recording few seconds earlier. In the age of the first studio video recorders, they had to live with the need, to start recording and playback 2 minutes before, because the unit needed this time to record and playback properly, but they could deal with this, they usually have a schedule, a point where it starts. Back to this tape recorder, it seems that they are concerned about reliability and so they doesn't waste energy. There is no context, where it wouldn't be possible to start recording few seconds in advance.
Holy shit, that is some packaging. Lovely. My days of being into Lomo and cheap alternatives to that whole photographic scene is expecting something cheap and technically crap but also full of character :) And likely built to last too.
I think the recording of outside ambient sounds would be wicked, not even industrial but just capturing of everyday beauty. Perhaps to layer and bring the mood up(or down :o )
I believe, and hope, that we will return massively on tape, vinyls, film (for photo), no smart phones, and no credit/debit cards, love, compassion, intelligence, etc. Ciao !!
That’s a nice machine .. I got a love for tape machines too... I got a national Panasonic cassette recorder and couple of tandbergs, one has pitch control and marantz 5220 ... I love the sounds of old tapes... the other day I was looking at this Russian delay/reverb machine but can’t buy it.... can’t understand the language
The slewing of the tape on start up sounds like a blown "start motor running capacitor" issue. It's usually a fairly straight forward replacement though with smaller tape recorders it can be a pain. It will probably be the largest capacitor and it may be leaking and stinking.
I think you might not get a correct feeling for its size in the video. A Stellavox is tiny compared to this, so if you know both Nagra and Stellavox and this, the comparison would not come to mind. After all, being smaller than Nagra was Stellavox claim to fame. There are some visual cues to the Stellavox on the LOMO, such as the arm layout, but overall this feels more like a chunky Nagra in operation. As to better: Stellavox were the Apple of their time - epoxyed modules that you can't repair, so if something fails you are screwed. I would be hesitant to buy one today because of that. Nagra you can still service easily.

I need a plugin of that 👌🏼🧸👍🏽
A very high quality recorder from the 70s or 80s I'm guessing? Wonder if this was intended for reporters or something like that. Lomo is awesome!

2.24 how did you call this tune and how can I trace it? You have released so much stuff I was not able to find it.. Thanks a million!
Those drums sound incredible when saturated - though I wouldn't be wearing those batteries out and about. It looks like some kind of explosive belt!

Yes please, do some field recordings with that awesome battery pack! That's the coolest thing I've seen like ... ever.
That portable battery pack is extremely fashionable.
I want to know which Russian fought Chewbacca to steal it!
batman style 🦇
I would say maybe dangerous, it looks like a "suicide belt" and some authorities could have some dammaging reflex.

If you don’t spend an hour trying to open it then it’s not worth buying
If you wouldn't chuck it down a flight of stairs, it's not packed well enough yet.
It's definitely got the classic lomo glitchy vibe like the cameras.
Lovely set you have there.
The Battery pack oh my gosh.... It's truly amazing how far batteries have come Fantastic share Hainbach!
As the owner of a Lomo LC-A camera, I had no idea they made anything like this. Excellent find!
have lomo rhytm 320 - is stereo version of this. similar used in the studio, he writes an almost even signal across the spectrum. super device

The piano bit near the end is absolutely wonderful
Also that sweater is amazing
Thank you buddy!
Song name?
I do love that use of slew'ing into a recording: actually quite beautiful!
That might be the most amazing distortion I've ever heard!🤯 I could listen to that tr-608 for hours😌
Yes, would love more vids with this. The song had such a Soviet feel to it. Nice job. The over drive was cool too.
Wow, it made great sounds!
That is awesome. The drums at the first play sounded amazing!
Long way to go to find a drum break...lol
Cool piece of kit and post apocalyptic fashion on point with that power belt!
The joy in this video is palpable.
That entire kit looks incredible!
My Gosh.... !!! What a great review! Thanx so much for this! Love the funny vibes!

Ok but that SWEATER though!
Yarnbender here, that particular stitch style is called two-colour brioche. Not only gorgeous, but cozy as heck!
Yes!!! Absolutely gorgeous
I had a similar sweater. My father jokingly told me that I should wash it, then burn it, LOL. It was so nice and warm.

The piano section reminded me of listening to the George Winston seasonal records. That slight flutter gave it a very nostalgic feel.
8:44 and it is also quartz synchronized, so it can be used without any cable between the movie camera and the audio recorder.
Wow! Looks like an amazing machine, and it gives such a 'textured' analog sound!
The wow-flutter effect on the piano was gorgeous!! I liked it much more than the adjustment.
Cool thing is I can bring it in and out with the screwdriver. Very nice effect.

Enchanting, thank you for sharing!
It has synchro.
Now you can record simultaneously with Nagra and Lomo and then layer/blend the recordings for some extra texture magic.

There's a speed switch, at least an on/off speed switch. You can see it at 2:27. It has УСКОР ХОД (abbreviation of "sped-up motion") above it.

@HAINBACH, you should propose a show with this gear at the DDR Museum! Perhaps after hours with adult beverages :)

How would you compare this to the Uher tape recorders you've used?
It feels and acts nicer than the Uhers, due to being more open in design and using more regular connectors. Lack of speed options is a bummer.
