Here in Perth, Aus, we had Elizabeth Quay built a few years ago and there was over 1 million granite sets laid for all the pathways. All came in from China.
Apparently when they split the granit for Edinburgh Castle, they’re drill only had one battery so it was much harder I was told by an archaeologist that the holes were drilled with a bow and pole, like a fire starter, using sand as an abrasive to drill the holes, each of which took several days
There is 8.000 tons of Granite blocks in the Great Pyramid . Some weigh over 70 tons each ........ Nearly 5.000 years old , get your head around that . 👍🏴
Pennine walling hammer you have there. Basically the only hand tool you need for a sandstone dry stone wall, except sometimes a sledge hammer/stone axe for breaking big lumps.
Good demonstration of trying different tools to make Granite sets be some job that doing them by hand for a granite set driveway lol cheers for the upload Andy very interesting
Most of the victorian sets in London came from sark in the channel Islands...
Funniest vid you have ever done Andy. Loved it. Granite mines lol.
I still don't believe the Pyramid builders worked Granite using copper tools ! 🏴

Nice one, bit different, and a good example of how we all have to learn as we go sometimes.
I thought the splitters were called feathers and wedges?
