I am with them. The soot on the ceiling goes back too far for that opening. There could be a treasure of history buried and could go much deeper and maybe inhabitants from different eras . I would love to explore it with you. i find it historically interesting to say the least. Thanks for sharing.
The hole in the back supplied air to a fire in the back... The fire would warm the cave walls and essentially it was a survival shelter... Whether for 1800s outlaws or prospector or homeless vagabond this is a great location to know for big out... Nice find
I agree Allen, just like a wood fired bread oven. Fire in the back, any smoke travels up and out. Warms the whole cave. Ash was built up over time. I bet that bed of coals was deep!
The fire would have been in the back corner so they could take advantage of as much radiant heat as possible while sleeping between the fire and the front opening so as to use their bodies to try to hide as much excaping light of the fire as possible. It's their smartest move by far.
Could be alot of things, outlaw hideout, a place someone stopped to camp or rest, or a prospectors camp. I'd bring a metal detector and see if there's anything around. Even back then, the average person, not a criminal would have taken refuge there from poor weather or set up camp there because it's a natural shelter. Really cool find, doesn't look like anyone's been in there in ages.
Its not that old.. still Wag that is not going to last out in the elements those are modern-day coffee Ken's rigged together to probably make a meth lab of some sort I bet you that's maybe five six seven eight years old I wouldn't say anything about 8 years old being in the elements like that with metal that thin does not last long
Fascinating find. The “door” was probably used as a table to eat off of, as well as a base for more camouflage (maybe). I would definitely return with, as others have suggested, a metal detector, hard hat, pick axe, etc. Do another video when, or if, you do return.
Also, the nuts and bolts are modern, as are the tin cans. I suppose it could be older than the 60's but I agree with you, I wouldn't put it older than that.
There was a fire..ancient people made fires exactly like that because hot air rises and follows the cave ceiling out the entrance, pushed by cold air that was heated....look it up
That fire was much deeper in the crevice. It would be a good idea to dig the back of that out because it definitely went farther back at one time. I wonder what's being hidden back their. Dirt dont run up in to caves, it runs out...
Into or out of, depend on wind direction. I have seen deep ditches (several yards deep)on a motorcycle hill climb completely filled in by wind storm while the same storm stripped all the soil from a grass covered hillside close by but at a slightly different angle. You simply can't expect natur to do what you expected.
I would bet that if you dig around that entire area with a medal detector who knows what and how much you will find. Someone found Jessie James hideout awhile back, watching the program called treasure hunters. They found a horde of mason jars full of silver dollars and gold coins. You may have found a jack pot. CWA
Where did they find Jesse James’s hideout? Who was it? I’m fascinated by this stuff because I’m married to a descendant of Frank James most probably-possibly Jesse James according to family history, however it’s known Frank James was in the area, so it’s possible. Fascinating stuff no doubt. If what I’ve read is true Jesse James lived a lot longer life than he is thought to. His gang left a lot of treasure caches around as well.
Well I'd say if there was some kind of "outlaw" holding up there. They would want the fire at the back of the cave so it didn't blind the site out of the cave! You always want a fire at your back for best visibility! You cant really see over a fire very well. And seeing how smoke rises and there is a high triangular effect to that ceiling the smoke would just roll right on out!
You have came close to discovering the delim. Fire between you and your enemy you can't see them. you between them and your fire you are silhouetted in front of the fire and very easily seen. The solution you are off to one side in a shadow. Or you put the fire inside of a steel box so no light is visible at all and hope your night vision is better than any attacker.
Halooo! Great find!! Gargantuan imagination! The galvanized screen from a oil lantern is a good dating clue.(research g.s. invented) While this is obviously a site intended for privacy( for whatever reason) it's value is determined by it's geo- location.( relative to populated areas/ historical events/ or just hiker/ camper trips. My , un- educated guess would be post 1935, based on g.s. But earlier "guests" are certainly a possibility. Still, an interesting find. Grats!
Nothing I've seen proves this "hide out" date's back to the old west. The item he poked at outside looks like an old cylindrical filter of some kind, maybe an antique oil filter. Maybe circa 1920s-1940s. If he'd found petrified horse apples or old leather from horse tackle or saddlebags I might be inclined to consider it a possibility. It may be a stash hole or a hideaway for liquor runners during prohibition. Still an interesting find.
Excellent excellent shelter. Maybe the piece of wood was used for a makeshift table ,? and the cans the rusty tin cans how long do you think it would take a can to rust like that in the dry arid desert they could be 100 years old? Such are the mysteries of the Wild West :-) one never really knows what went! on! but I wish I had a cave like that! a place to hang out! Put a cot in there and table! a fire! a pot of beans! and some coffee! and my 22 rifle of course! and don't forget the wife just wouldn't be the same without my Sally who abandoned me 11 years ago!! by the way after being together since 17 years old and I'm 65
That door is vintage but the cuts on the wood was definitely made by a saw..but it sure could have been used by travelers in the great depression... cow boys artifacts would be in back of cave great find Hope it pans out...
I noticed that "door" you flipped over, had a 3x3 area that looked drugged out then covered, you should go back and check it,I can tell someone has buried something. I've protected for many years with my prospect uncle Carl from Nevada growing up,I'm now 54,I still go out preparing, now in Oregon
Volcanoes don't leave black soor on the walls and ceiling. Their, whoever 's hide out it was, fires were built in the back of the cave for warmth and to hide.
Everyone is saying go back with a metal detector and Rob the place.. how wonderful have you ever heard this take nothing but leave with a lifetime of memories.. places like that should be looked at and not robbed..
From my eyes, cuz we're I live we got hideouts used my Bloody Bill Anderson, Captian Quantrill, Captian George Todd, James Gang, and Dalton Gang in my area. From my to eyes it looks more like a old mine shaft cuz the door you say looks to be made of plywood and has hex head bolts, the stove top has wire mesh, so most like it's a old mine entrence from the 1890's-1920's maybe
Well I think they didn't have plywood back in the days of Wyatt Earp and if you look at the door closely you can definitely tell a good portion of it is made of plywood. Cool little spot no doubt I just don't think it was an outlaw hideout
Depending on what state this is there is probably a mine explorer here with the know-how to safely get into the back of that and check out how far it goes. this looks like it was once a mine that got backfilled to close it off. I'm wondering if there's a shaft somewhere up that hill from you and someone tossed down a flare and set a fire and that's where the smoke came from. If this is the southwest like I think, contact Gly over at Abandoned And Forgotten Places. he does that region and will definitely have some good knowledge about this
There was a much bigger cavity that black smoke stripe it is coming out of the hole. Where they had a big enough chamber to have constant 🔥 fire. It could be prehistoric even.
Look for a flashlight partially filled with refried beans, a young Navajo boy named Jimmy Pacaya and two kids by the name of Bobby and Cindy- their parents been looking for ‘em….
I think the fire towards the back of the cave was because whoever was hiding out in there got smoked out by Wyatt Earp or whomever. There were two smaller openings was there not?
Cattle round up shelter, hunting bolt hole, could be anything. Probably indian s and prehistoric shelter, but automatically its "butch Cassidy hole in the wall.
What do us guys think??? The ash isn't from a volcano it's where they positioned the wood fire to allow it to not get blown out as well heat the cavern... The one container isn't for a rain gutter it's a hand fashioned strainer... Or maybe a cloth inside it meant they could put their coffee grounds in it and strain hot water through...
158 ... That is a part to a cave lantern. My mom has one that was suppose to be used by Jesse James. I THINK FROM CARLSBAD CAVERNS...BUT DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT. BUT indeed looks like piece of a lantern.

My guess is it was used as a smelt for mining nearby.
I agree Allen, just like a wood fired bread oven. Fire in the back, any smoke travels up and out. Warms the whole cave. Ash was built up over time. I bet that bed of coals was deep!
Your "Stove pipes" were old tin cans. Some hiker turned a couple of cans into an impromptu "Hobo" camp stove for a quick meal.
The fire would have been in the back corner so they could take advantage of as much radiant heat as possible while sleeping between the fire and the front opening so as to use their bodies to try to hide as much excaping light of the fire as possible. It's their smartest move by far.
Yes and definitely not ash from a volcano
I would have to return there with a metal detector and shovel. They could have buried a safe or something with money in it
Where does the smoke leave the cave?
Holly cow, I sure would be getting a metal detector and doing some searching in that cave
lets go!!
It’s illegal to loot archaeological sites on public lands.
@@johnnyh-pay5843 we'll dam ya learn something new every day, thanks guess won't be doin that any time soon

@@dansavka7648 In the desert metal of all kinds and wood lasts decades longer than wet climates.
Yep nice shelter for anyone after 1880's..

Yeah start a fire stand the door up to conceal. Then after it cool off lay it for a bed off the floor.
absolutely! 🙏
The door was made from plywood. I would guess 1960's at the earliest
Also, the nuts and bolts are modern, as are the tin cans. I suppose it could be older than the 60's but I agree with you, I wouldn't put it older than that.
Your Momma no hippies wouldn’t work that hard.
The cave is much bigger than it looks! Cool.

yeah, gold hunters n all....did the injuns love gold

Someone did. They found Ozzy Osbourne. Turns out he had mistakenly purchased a Heavy Metal detector.
🤪

I think the outlaw treasure is hidden behind the rubble at the back of the cave. You should dig it out and shoot us a video on what you find.
Metal detector?
could be an Apache cache of raided goods. From let's say mid 1800's.
Amazing find... what makes a person wanna go looking for stuff like that! Sounds like a great hobby!
This dude said ash probably from a volcano 😆
I think that is where King Rootin Tootin’s treasure may be
Or Queen Hotsie Totsie...
That place deserves to be looked at closer for sure. Cool find
Looks like a great hide! Heck id live in it!

Cool. There’s got to be an old privy site around there. Would be interesting to metal detect.

That "hideout" was just a cave that has been used for thousands of years.
Yeah, a grifter

Could have sworn I saw Wyle E Coyote chasin the Roadrunner off in the distance!!
That's epic I'll bet they built the fire in the back and the smoke followed the ceiling on out ..very cool
Looks like a good place to hide from a large angry woman.😂
Cool video, you should try and get further into the cave. Maybe something worth finding in there.
One heck of an imagination on ya 😆
That door is vintage but the cuts on the wood was definitely made by a saw..but it sure could have been used by travelers in the great depression... cow boys artifacts would be in back of cave great find

Phineas, your voice and manner of speaking really reminds me of my uncle Tommy. Uncle Tom taught me most of the hat I know about the wild world.
Great find....one day you might find something cool. Hidden loot.....😁👍
It looks like a well trodden location. Appears to be visited quite often. Interesting though.
Imagine pulling up to the cave and having some drinks with the fellas after a heist
That is cool,I would run a metal detector around there, then dig that out and go in possibly
Might be an interesting project for metal detecting and beginning archaeology students.
Great little cave
Wouldn't mind betting if you dug all that ash and debris out you'd find indian artifacts going back millenia.
I think you should dig it out, you might have just found the Lost Dutchman’s mine. You could be a instant bizillionaire!
The metal pipe with the wire mesh on it was placed on top of a fire for can cooking
Volcanoes don't leave black soor on the walls and ceiling. Their, whoever 's hide out it was, fires were built in the back of the cave for warmth and to hide.
I normally see Anasazi caves or ruins where they built their fires just like the one you showed us.
awesome, id look for treasure get a metal defector in there
Don't think they had much plywood for making a door out of back in Earp and outlaw days, but been somebody's something regardless. Interesting.
The hermit living in that cave; "Jeez, even way out here?! Where the hell do I have to go to get away from everybody?"
Me, right now.
Only the last person with out the virus would know how far , but sooner or later the extended car warranty people will find the last one standing !!!
When you was looking at the first can to the left of the cave it looks like a big black wolf watching you
I'd be metal detecting every part of that cave ,walls an all!!!! Lol
Good Fine.
Lol that door is a piece of plywood.
They didn't have plywood in the old days. Looks like careless campers to me.
Perfect fireplace
The back where you said the ash was from lava. They made fires in the back and let the heat roll out of the front.
Looks like a cool place go camping
Theres treasure back there! Dig son!!!! I SMELL GOOOOOOOOOLD!!!!!
Everyone is saying go back with a metal detector and Rob the place.. how wonderful have you ever heard this take nothing but leave with a lifetime of memories.. places like that should be looked at and not robbed..
Billy The Kid’s hideout 😲
Cool find, worth a further look around with a metal detector.
"Have you been back there since? You should go and see what's on the other side."
Love the content
5000 years of cooking fires. Pre European that would have been a top condo. Also lots of critters use it for shelter.
Yeah, The Plywood motor mount board really screams "The Wild West" !! Probably some Dry-Claim Prospector, or Ranch line camp.
So do the tin can "stovepipe" 😆
That’s awesome
Looks like someone set a big fire to cause the rock in the ceiling to crack, collapse, and block further entry to the cave.
Might have some outlaw loot around it (hole in the wall gang)
From my eyes, cuz we're I live we got hideouts used my Bloody Bill Anderson, Captian Quantrill, Captian George Todd, James Gang, and Dalton Gang in my area. Well I think they didn't have plywood back in the days of Wyatt Earp and if you look at the door closely you can definitely tell a good portion of it is made of plywood. Cool little spot no doubt I just don't think it was an outlaw hideout
Sure they did and I'm sure aliens did not help build the pyramids.....
What State and where ?
If it was a outlaw hideout....where did they hide the horses..... 🤣
Too cool!

Buried loot at the back of that cave how awesome would that be to find
Cool
That’s a old mine opening, particularly natural.
Gold hunter. Heat the rock and cool it quickly, rock shatters.
Only 300 Mile's to the watering hole , you better have a heck of a good big ice chest !!!
That's probably the top of a stagecoach box
I think the fire towards the back of the cave was because whoever was hiding out in there got smoked out by Wyatt Earp or whomever. There were two smaller openings was there not?
Other than the dead weeds it looks like Mars.
Looks like you found yourself a project. Next trip....with a shovel (& metal detector if ya got one)
What state ? Thank you for posting. Have fun and be safe in your adventures
Awesome
I think the cave is a lot older than it looks, and it was probably made with fire shattering over a long period of time
Looks cool where is it looks like an old phone box
Looks like it hasn't rained since before they were there
Cattle round up shelter, hunting bolt hole, could be anything. Probably indian s and prehistoric shelter, but automatically its "butch Cassidy hole in the wall.
Might of had a wooden front door used for fire wood later .
Similar to the Ned Kelly hide out in Vic was just a dug out cave in a mound tho not a rock cave.
It probably got covered in from the rain floods, that needs to be excavated, the treasure could be artifacts !!!!
There seems to be a giant foot print and hand print on the rocks
3:50 should get some shovels and see what maybe in that dirt and beyond
To the Land of Beyond Beyond where Dreamer's Dream's Lay waiting to be Realized !
What do us guys think??? The ash isn't from a volcano it's where they positioned the wood fire to allow it to not get blown out as well heat the cavern... If the rent is low enough, I'll take it!
Place's like that were often just Cowboy Hotel's when the weather was bad possibly Native Cave too go back with a metal detector
The things that pop up eh, cool
158 ... That is a part to a cave lantern.
My mom has one that was suppose to be used by Jesse James.
I THINK FROM CARLSBAD CAVERNS...BUT DONT QUOTE ME ON THAT. BUT indeed looks like piece of a lantern.
Old mine shaft that collapsed
