You'd be practically deaf when outside the bunker because there'd be very little, if anything, for sound to travel through, so you'd only be hearing the sound of your own breathing inside the suit and the beeping of an oxygen gauge that ticked down over time, getting louder and more urgent after passing certain oxygen levels. You wouldn't be alone, though, because somehow, some things, maybe the things responsible for the apocalypse in the first place, or maybe just their pets, would be out there. They wouldn't need air, and they'd be deadly silent predators. You could only be aware of them through visual confirmation, and they'd be these haunting, stalking creatures that could get to you anytime and anywhere outside your bunker, and they could get you at a moments notice since you wouldn't hear them approaching. God, the gas masks. I love and hate them. There is no emotion in them. And especially in soldiers, it's just a stoic statue. Anything that fully covers the face does this, really. It just removes any sense of humanity, turning them into a creation of humanity.
See, that's why I like how Jin-Roh handles them. Not exactly gas masks, but they completely cover the face, lighting up the eyes in bright red. In the Battle in the Sewers scene, when the girl is about to blow herself up, Fuse, the main character, asks "Why..?", and when she finally pulls the cord on the satchel charge she's got, the way the eyes look, despite covering up anything human, convey the surprise and sorrow Fuse felt in that moment... before he almost gets blown up.
Imagine a story about a person who believes he's the only man on Earth, has never came across another human being and grew up alone not remembering his birth. He hears old music that plays on radios and speakers that are still active long after the apocalypse. Even though he has never encountered another human being, he is aware that there used to be more of them all over the World, he just doesn't understand what exactly happened to have made the world like this. The few pieces of evidence that claim other humans used to inhabit the world are old photos, drawings and the music that plays on the old speakers that echo throughout their hallways. He doesn't understand how these speakers play music when nobody operates them, but what bothers him more are the vocal songs that have a person singing in them. Due to his lonely life, he never learnt how to speak or use his vocal cords, when he listens to the woman singing on the speakers he tries to mimic her singing, over time as he listens, he wonders who is the person singing and if she is still alive?
Siempre guarda 2 balas en tu revovler, una para el monstruo deforme que venga por ti y una para ti, de todas formas te van a decorar, mejor que lo hagan contigo muerto
If anything, it’d be euphoric. I doubt there’s a chance that it could be anything else if it knocks. That’s the peak sign of humanity and gentleness, and manners. I doubt anything else could understand that. I would open that door, if I hadn’t had a heart attack or became immobilized and would’ve gave whatever is out there a hug.

Isolated and abandoned by the world that they left that one sunny afternoon they left port on. Makes me wonder why these concepts are barely if ever thought upon.
Imagine you are the last person on earth, you survived the initial armageddon and have walked past countless bodies that have since long ago turned to skeleton, you forget how many years or decades have passed fighting wild animals off, packs of dogs that are descendants of the dogs people kept as pets but have long gone abck to their wild instincts over the decades and now stalk the overgrown and neglected streets hunting anything that moves. One night you wake up in the pitch black of night to hear this song being blasted in the distance and then it all goes quiet, not even the howls of the wild dogs are heard or the chirping of insects.

When I got out of the bunker, I was the only one who had survived. The other survivors of the bunker died from eating those mushrooms that grew on the walls... Only me left, I took my gun, I put on my gas mask and I left after 20 years of nuclear war... There's nothing left, no one, not a single insect, when I came out I remembered the song that was playing in the bunker so we wouldn't all go crazy... A crunch, I pull out my gun and start shooting at that hideous creature, a bunch of these things come out and I start trying to kill them... There are too many, they start to eat me alive, the pain is unbearable... But at least I know that I will be reunited with my family, my friends... and my Elizabet, my beloved Elizabet... There I will see you again Elizabeth
As you begin to be eaten alive by those "things" you look up and while feeling no pain whatsoever. You see you dear Elizabeth floating just a few feet above you and she says "Try again..." And her mouth opens at inhuman lengths and her bones crack as they extended and slowly turn into one of those monsters but- You wake up back in your bunker room, you grab your pills and swallow them without water that you usually use, no hesitation. The dreams are starting again... You sit up and look at the very dim lamp flickers every once in a while. The dust in your room is so bad you can barely see the door across your somewhat small room or dorm. You stand up and realize the radiation must be leaking in again... You walk across your room and walk past a corpse that is slowly rotting away as if it's only a few weeks old. You step outside your room and see the mushrooms, everywhere.. The very thing that killed everyone in this damn bunker. "Radiation must be leaking in again, every time I have those God awful dreams, radiation is leaking in.." You walk down the hallway, most of the lights in the hallway are shut off due to power outages that began only months ago, sometimes they still flicker due to the high lightning storms outside the bunker caused by the bombs, but who knows, you're too paranoid to know whether you are making assumptions or not... You walk to the generator and grab a firearm "Here we go again..." You forcefully open the door that leads to the Generator room, but you keep your guard because those "things" are in here with you... You see the very dim red lights that surround the generator and a lever to switch the power back on, these things like to toy with you and the power after their 1 month nap, you hope and pray they went back to sleep. You slowly walk over to the lever and pull it to quickly open and close off all entrances that leak radiation and restart the power grid. You sigh in relief until you hear the door, your only exit, slam shut. The door that weighs tons of pounds and could only be slammed shut by something extremely strong... You turn around and look up to see a tall mutilated monster, bones crackling, jaw opening, and a recognizable face of one of your good friends Joseph. More of them come out of the darkness and they all rush to you, ripping you limb from limb, eating what remains, and then you see your beloved Elizabeth above your dying body saying "Try. Again.. Alan..." Somebody keep it going 😭😭😭

You were awoken from your such deep sleep, and all you could hear is nothing but the toxic and radioactive winds blowing into your direction, as you walk around aimlessly, you feel as the wind is ominously suspicious. Thinking there might be a threat up front, you unholsters your pistol and fires 3 shots. The bullets hits nothing, but a completely destroyed humvee (or any armored vehicles) you breathe a sigh of relief. Finally, you've decided to take a rest and sit on a roof of a car, muttering "what, happened here?... Where is everyone?" Feeling curious, you pull out your functioning geiger counter, expecting for the radiation levels to be low, but it is completely the opposite. The geiger counter reads high counts of radiation levels. Ranging to 540cpm to 780cpm, you are not expected to live longer. As you're waiting for your ominous death. You begin to hallucinate, you see a very strange figure, whether it looks like an another soldier whom survived, you can't differentiate it now. You are a deadman walking. Goodluck. Be advised:this is a complete remake from my previous comment 1 year ago.
Honestly, if I were the last person alive (which I seriously doubt would happen), I don't even know what I would do. Probably complement life, memories of the loved ones, dreams I've had.. but after a while, I fear I would end it all. Thankfully I won't have to make such choice
Highly unlikely to be the last human on earth ( I am from Swiss and most houses have a nukelare bunker mine included besides the bunkers beneath the Gemeinds House wich in my memory the Swiss citizens with the Swiss pass are advised to enter if theirs does not have one) so probably 8 mil or atleast 5 mil people would be still alive

The bunker locks opening, for the last time. You have already forgotten your name. The only other evidence of either humans or not is the radio towers. It feels like a nightmare... The suffering, the pain. Your legs... broken. You see someone or something representing a person. Holding a Rifle with a gas mask and helmet. Armoured and armed for anything. You wish that whoever it was could hear your cry for help. You took in your surroundings as the battery in your suit was about to die. Cutting off ventilation and air. Your giger counter. Louder than usual. A siren would blare in your mind. The person unable to notice you. You felt like your soul was trapped in your body. You took the last bit of energy to pull your pistol out. Unable to pull the trigger, you dropped it. The person had already gone. As you bled out or suffocated. You finally knew you were not the last. You looked up, looking at the hole in the building. Four stories high. Forced to jump from it. As your battery finally died, death hadn't seemed so bad now. The person rounding the corner. You took your last breath.

Bro...
As you begin to be eaten alive by those "things" you look up and while feeling no pain whatsoever. You see you dear Elizabeth floating just a few feet above you and she says "Try again..." And her mouth opens at inhuman lengths and her bones crack as they extended and slowly turn into one of those monsters but-
You wake up back in your bunker room, you grab your pills and swallow them without water that you usually use, no hesitation.
"Radiation must be leaking in again, every time I have those God awful dreams, radiation is leaking in.."
You walk down the hallway, most of the lights in the hallway are shut off due to power outages that began only months ago, sometimes they still flicker due to the high lightning storms outside the bunker caused by the bombs, but who knows, you're too paranoid to know whether you are making assumptions or not...
Again.. Alan..."
Somebody keep it going 😭😭😭

Thinking there might be a threat up front, you unholsters your pistol and fires 3 shots. The bullets hits nothing, but a completely destroyed humvee (or any armored vehicles) you breathe a sigh of relief.
Finally, you've decided to take a rest and sit on a roof of a car, muttering "what, happened here?... Where is everyone?"
Feeling curious, you pull out your functioning geiger counter, expecting for the radiation levels to be low, but it is completely the opposite. The geiger counter reads high counts of radiation levels. Ranging to 540cpm to 780cpm, you are not expected to live longer.
