Dr. Grande- This video was helpful on Friedman's ANOVA. You explained that you can use this test in a instance when not needing an assumption in a one-way ANOVA when the data is ordinal. This video was clear, easy to understand, and is a great resource to use.
This video was very informative. I was not familiar with Friedmans ANOVA, so I appreciated the description that it is simply a nonparametric equivalent to a one way repeated measures ANOVA. The presentation was very easy to follow. Thank you so much for the new information, I will definitely be referring back to this video in the near future!
Hi Todd! I would like to thank you for your videos. They (you) are my statistical consultant since the first year of my research. Starting from my undergrad research to my master and now in my doctorate! I'm really grateful :D
This test is used to measure differences between groups when the dependent variable is ordinal (ordered categories). This was helpful because I did not learn how to run this particular test in undergrad. Thank you!
Thank you for the video Dr. Grande. It is interesting to see how this test can be used to view the differences between the pretest and post test. Again, I've never heard of the friedman's anova, so I appreciate the description offered in this video.
thank you so much for uploading this! not only did you help me through a friedmans you helped me realise i SomeFuckingHow managed to do my AD HOC tests before my actual tests and thats why i was confused and lacking results! i owe you my life i stg
Thank you for creating this video. I have yet to use any non-parametric tests, but if I need to do so in the future, I will reference your videos. SPSS is very useful software.
Thank you for the instructive video, Dr. Grande. I am performing Friedman test on a sample of 30 cases and I need to divide the alpha value by 3. In Friedman's test, I get that there is a significant difference between the values. However, when I do the Wilcoxon test non of them have a significant difference and all the P values are above 0.017. Is the Bonferroni correction really necessary?
This video has finally helped me to actually understand the Friedman's ANOVA! Do you write any books or recommend any books that I could use for reference for this when I present my results in my thesis?
While I do not quite understand the aspects of each test, I am gradually picking-up the terminology. Hopefully, that knowledge will provide the foundation for understanding the intricacies of the various test options.
Thanks..Dr.Grande. one thing I want to know about Friedman's Anova post hoc test. If p value is significant in rank, we have to do post hoc pairwise analysis. In pairwise analysis, if adjustedp value is not significant in any group i.e. null hypothesis retained , what will be the final interpretation?
Hello Todd. I found your video useful. I am wondering however, how one might run a comparison between two groups (not just a time factor as shown in your example?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your videos helped me a lot. I can't believe that this video is viewed more than 16K but there are just 28 likes. Please guys! just spend some milliseconds on clicking like to appreciate this much effort!
Thank you for all the video's it helped me a lot. I was wondering if it is possible to have no significant results from the friedman test, but if you do posthoc, you still find significance inone group? Friedman came on 0.11.
Dr. Grande. If I have 3 sample bound variable and want to test it using friedman in spss. however the 3 data are interval not ordinal. what should i do? can i still use the friedman test?
Hello doctor, your videos are good. I have a doubt on what test of significance to choose for Paired observations of ordinal data for 3 independent groups. Please help me. Thanks in advance.
Hi Dr. Grande I am doing my Phd in field of dentistry, I am comparing the success/ failure of three treatment methods in a prospective study, I already have the 12 months follow up results. is Friedman's Anova with post Hoc the suitable test in my case or do I need another test?
I am having a hard time selecting the right test for my data. My data is not normally distributed and I believe I need the non-parametric version of a 2-way anova. All searches are telling me to run a Kruskal Wallis or a Friedmans, but I have 2 independent (individual & substrate) variables and 1 dependent variable (location count) and all tutorials don't seem to help my case. My test is to see individual substrate preferences. I have 6 individuals and 5 substrates. I ran 3X30-minute observations and recorded individual locations every two minutes during the 30 minutes. I did this every day for 4 days. Please can anyone point me to a test that matches this?
Dear Dr. Grande, Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. I have a follow-up question. My study setup is exactly like the data shown here. My question is this: Do I also apply Bonferroni correction for Friedman's ANOVA test and correct the p-value to 0.017? Second question: I read a lot of conflicting information about if a Bonferroni correction is "necessary". Since my deadline is near, do you think I can report both uncorrected and corrected p-values in my master's thesis report and mention the conflicting information? Thanks again for the great videos :)
Extremely useful. As always. Thank you Dr. Grade. I have only one question: i've read that Bonferroni correction is applied when there are more than 5 samples. cause with 3 or 4 the test is still robust enough to ignore the type 1 error while not losing on Power (type 2 error). Do you agree with that? Thanks in advance
Dear Dr. Grande. Huge fan of your videos. Challenge: I don't only want to compare three questionnaires (Likert scale) that were filled out on three different moments (which I can do nicely according to this video), but I also want to compare the results of three different sample groups (positive framing, negative framing and control group). Question: with the repeated measures ANOVA I can compare different sample groups and different moments at the same time. Can I do the same with Friedman's or do I need to go about this another way? Would love to hear from you!
Thank you for your video! Do you know if there is some way more pratical to select the data when we have more than 3 diferents "situations"? In your example you had only 3 diferents situations. I have 8 diferents situations that my sample are exposure, select one by one to run the post hoc test is a bit dificult and dangerous, because maybe I could forget one of then. Do you know if there's something like when we run ANOVA repeated measures and the software select all cases automatically? Thank you!!!
Did not know you utilized this particular test when data are ordinal and sometimes, when assumptions are not met for a repeated measures one-way ANOVA. This video highlights the importance of conducting post-hoc tests to identity where any statistical significance may lie.
though the test done right but i think that the post hoc you did was wrong because this variabls are for the same factor. this three treatment`s are not separate form ech other so you have tow ways to do the post hoc test (1)if you want to do this in thi is way you introduced you have to correct the Alpha =)1-(1-Alpha)^k (k =numper of comperisions )and make a new Alpha to make decision on rejectingH0 or not(2)or you can follow this ..Analyze=)Related sampels=)Settings=)Customized tests=)Friedmans …)multiple comparisons=)All pairwise
Dr. Grande, your videos are a life saving for many students.
Thank you so much! I am glad your students benefit from my videos -
The Friedman's test provides the mean rank and shows the differences and the post hoc tells where the differences are. Thanks for the video.

This was very helpful. I had never heard of a Friedman's AVOVA. I like how this is broken down.
Very interesting! I like how this is broken down. It is very concise and makes sense!
Great and direct explanation, just what I needed! Thank you so much
Thank you sir, But how can I compare experimental and control group using Friedman's test?
SPSS is still my preferred program of choice. I found this helpful as I had never performed a Friedman's ANOVA in SPSS
Can I use Friedman's test with continuous variables?
Holy cow I've seen you on the interwebs. Informative clip.
Dr Grande, for the posthoc test is it possible to adopt wilcoxon post hoc test after friedman anova instead of the bonferroni correct.
Hello, thank you for your video what if in the above example we have one between factors too? what test should we use?

How do you interpret pairwise comparison from the friedman test please?
ist the Skillings-Mack test is the same as Fiedmann-Anova?
While I do not quite understand the aspects of each test, I am gradually picking-up the terminology. Hopefully, that knowledge will provide the foundation for understanding the intricacies of the various test options.

You're welcome. I am glad this video helped you - thanks for watching.
yes, i am contributing to the likes :P
Thank you -
can i know why on post-hoc part, u compare with 0.17 not alpha value ?
Thank you for all the video's it helped me a lot. I was wondering if it is possible to have no significant results from the friedman test, but if you do posthoc, you still find significance inone group? Friedman came on 0.11.
please what is the non parametric equivaleent to a mixed two way anova !
Thanks for the video. How can i decided that which test has the best solution?
Thank you for your videos! I was wondering if there is a non-parametric test on SPSS for a two-way between-subjects ANOVA?
I am not aware of a non-parametric alternative to a two-way ANOVA.
Thank you for the video. If continuous data was not normally distributed, can this be an indication for Friedman's test?
Hi, How can I change the significant level (alpha) for Friedman test?
Dr. Grande. If I have 3 sample bound variable and want to test it using friedman in spss. however the 3 data are interval not ordinal. what should i do?

How do you run non parametric repeated measure with 2 way ANOVA
Extremely useful. As always. Thank you Dr. Grade. hi Dr. Grande, you said I can contact you to ask questions, but I don't see how?

Hi Todd, how can I contact you< I have some question related to this method
Isn't this more like a repeated-measures ANOVA than a one-way ANOVA since the same participants are measured across the different conditions?
This was really helpful. I love excel but it seems to pale by comparison to SPSS.
how will we perform post-hoc for friedman test when we have 10 variable.
45 times. for each comparison. but i highly doubt that the studies with 10 related variables are so frequent
Thank you for your video! Do you know if there is some way more pratical to select the data when we have more than 3 diferents "situations"? In your example you had only 3 diferents situations.
