I hear ya bro! I had a $600 berhinger mixer. After the warranty ran out, half the invisible mike preamps went south on me. Unable to sell it, I simply gave it away and got a Soundcraft instead. I also swore to NEVER buy another behringer product as long as I lived.

I'm not surprised mate Beringer won't admit it but their power supplies for the ultracurve pro are really crap. I have a. Ultracurve with a failed power supply too.

I've bought lots of Behringer gear over the years and it's fine up to a point. I gave them too much rope by buying B215A PA speakers, which sounded great until they died during normal careful use. Behringer is great for beginners and they fill that niche very well, but after a while it's time to start choosing more serious quality gear.

    @beet3333 i have one too......
If you purchace from a reputable retailer, you will get free repairs under warrantee...
all you need to do is get the item to the store....
my ddx 3216 mixer works fine as do the 2 adat cards , my ad converters, and my aes ebu converter...
I suggest the rack owner checks his power bar.....

My experience of this maker was
1 All there gear is CHEAP
2 Theres virtually no service in the uk
3 If it works its ok
4 If you get problems hard luck!
5 if it breaks bin it!
Needless to say i dont use this stuff anymore!!

I have a Behringer mixer and headphone amp thats been on all day, every day for 3 years,no problems. I have friends who also use Behringer all the time with no problems. I've owned Crown PS amps,Neuman U67 mics, JBL 4430,4412 studio monitors. Yeah there's a difference but for a tiny fraction of the cost Behringer is pretty good. That doesn't mean I'd buy everything they make either.

I had the same exact problem with my DEQ 2496. I ended up taking it apart, and resetting all the internal connectors, that didn't fix it. In the end, it was the power cord that came with it. It is too tight of a fit, and every week or so, it comes out just a bit out of the back, causing the unit to cycle endlessly for about 30 minutes. Cram it back in and it works fine.
    Weird.

To be completely fair, ive only ever had one behringer mixer (I believe they still make it, just with a new look) and the ONLY problem ive ever had, is that the FX feature built into the mixer plays through one speaker, unless you can turn the gain up to the mixer full, then it runs fine. Other than that, no complaints about them

I probably would steer well clear of any Behringer stuff which is DSP based as this seems to be where the problems are (although the Virtualiser Pro is so cheap I could be tempted) I however have an RX1602 Line Mixer which is superb. Quiet as a mouse and never given me one second's trouble. For the price there is nothing better, as all I want is to mix my synths to my computer's stereo inputs.

i can't because i know very well there is none, but if you ask me to tell a brand that i had huge problems, that i know others who had problems and people do complain about their products, sure it will be behringer. i've got rid of mines and bought a DBX, man that's the stuff. and the good thing is i didnt paid too much more that a behringer.

lol thanks its the truth i have 3 deqs i use for monitoring 6 mixes and work very good also the 9000 does pay off i usually charge 1800 for soundproduction setup and well is a good way to go if you want to make some extra money. i have a band and get to use all the goodies for us so thats a plus for me lol ... well if you are getting a scratchy noise thats something normal within time they get dirt inside i would recomend cleaning it with electronic cleaner they sell it at wal*mart

Where did you buy behringer from that they didn't take it back? Always check return policy before you buy. I have high end equipment fail just as often as cheap stuff and I've always gotten a refund or exchange from my dealer.

And another thing - You are too concerned about what others think about you. There are no rules about what is right and wrong on how you do things - if it works for you, then do it. Its not "naughty" to use a piece of gear because society tells you not to. They are machines, and are here to help us - use them!

I bought a mixer, a DJX700 in december 2007. I use it in my homestudio as a standalone mixer (meaning that I rarely touch it at all, but just have it combine 2 audio-signals and deliver my headphone signal when I record). The pot's (or the faders if you will) are already crackling and hizzing when I touch them. That happens with all pots eventually, but considering how little I use mine its just too lousy quality in my opinion. I know its cheap, and chinese slave-production, but still; not good.

Name me a brand that has NO failures.... You wont find it. Name me a brand which is very VERY rock solid, then look at the price. If its not 4x more than a Behringer, I'd be surprised. So you'd espect to spend 25% the price and get the same reliability? Come on. Its silly. If someone buys cheap stuff, then they take a risk. That doesnt mean cheap stuff will fail earlier always but its more likely but hey, dont complain because you spend way less.

    • @leohobbleohobb3781

When the cost of building Behringer ultra curve or ultra drive reliable is using good known brand capasitor,s some chip heatsink and better termisk contact between psu regulators and the heatsink frame that cool and shield,s it is very low a customer like me would have paid a little extra. The brand would get a better reputation.A unit produced over many years should have bad bugs removed. In my mind it is a border line scam when electronics is made to fail way premature.

  • @dancetech

how coud they 'not take it back and not want to know' if it was brand new? something not right there becuase these products are warranteed and regardless of behringer the law says you get a replacement or a fix. All gear by any manufacturer can be dud on purchase or develop a fault (especialy mass produced gear). I have a Kurzweil k2000 synth that died for example, and that was an expensive product.

Have you had bad luck all your life?

    • @dussie920
      @dussie920 3 года назад

I only had problems with their mixers. All when being transported. Reseating some stuff or cables fixed it. Hotglue either.
I have maybe 20 or 25 devices liken compressors, exciters, FX, denoisers, gates etc and not even 1 had a problem after 10 to 25 years. Oh wait, one had two buttons pushed inside the casing, because I dropped it. Still works.
Is it sonically superb stuff? No, not 100%. Is it perfect stuff for home and non-topmarket studios? Well, 100% yes. It does it's job quite well and it is reliable and affordable.
Just leave their mixers in the studio and do not drop it.

I would like to set the record strsight here - thats if anyone will listen...I worked in the repair facility of the the main importers in South Africa. They were the sole importers of Behringer, Pioneer, KRK, Bugera, Audix, Fane, HK audio and some other high end gear. I was also doing repairs for RANE, Symetrix, Shure and Presonus at the time. I saw no more Behringer Gear in the workshop than any other brands, and considering that there is possibly ten times more Behringer gear in circulation.

Put this one in the "you get what you pay for" file.
Those Behringer EQs are $350 each, at least here in the US. At that price, you could chuck out the one out of three that doesn't work, and it would still be half the price of a "real" digital EQ.
Still, any product that's defective out of the box should be replaced by the seller. I can't understand why this would be a problem.

the ultra drive and ultra curve use the same pcu inside.at least change to good capasitors and use glimmer type isolators to clamp the switch mode control chip and regulators toward the metal cooling frame around the pcu and not the rubber type condom like thing wich is orginal.the metal clips is okey.Good pressure..I also drilled several holes under the suppy in chassie and top cover, and glued a fine screen under the cover to prevent dust. Also used some old pc heatsink for motherboard chipset and used it on the warmest chips on the mainboard.the unit is better.to reduse a little hiss from outputs on the ultradrive i got 18 volt down to 17.5.also output levels never over minus 0.5db.Just rrie and listen.the hiss dont rize from minus 0.5dbto +15db.no signal on innputs just the unit itself.I found out it was a notch lower and it start at minus 0.5db.Hope it make some sence. You are not alone.Behringer is not a brand with service or quality in my experience.those thing i did make it long lasting.since i use mine only in house the vent holes is no problem.

Cheap Chinese capacitors in the power supplies on these will cause lots of headaches. If you're handy with a soldering iron head over to digikey and order panasonic replacements.
The small switches are also troublesome with these units.
You get what you pay for. I don't recommend this gear for people that depend on it to make a living.

Behringer is not a good company. A good company doesn't willingly sell an a product they know will die in 2 years or less. They are aware of their PSU issues, but know most these units will be out of warranty by time there is an issue. Some production companies would actually buy these units as "disposable" because of the low price tag (to them). They would just trash the units when they started to act up and buy more. It's pretty sickening that a company can care so little. Do a search for Behringer DEQ2496 and nothing but mod sites come up on how to fix all the various crap issues that occur on this unit.

TO ALL THE REST OF YOU IN TROUBLE. I´m going to share the secret
Your having a power supply failure.
You can fix this on your own if you can replace the 2 capacitor valued in 240 microfarads/25 volt.Located in the power supply.
I had the same problem once and found that these 2 capacitors were bad. So I replaced them with 2 new ones, but I changed them for 50volt capacity which will withstand longer.
    PROBLEM SOLVED..............
Now I´m going to ask for help on another issue with this unit.
I own several of these EQ¨s.
Another of them now won´t fully turn on because it display a FATAL ERROR CODE (sometimes 2, 3, 5, 6, etc..).
It asks to reset the unit, wich I do, but the problem persists.
After running some tests I discoverd that the problem is in the motherboard.
So can anyone tip me on how to fix the motherboard issue!!!!!!!!!!!

@@mPDC-gh8jy a lot of comments centre on the psus, is there any way a simple external linear psu could supply the rails required and get over all this crap about bad design in the SMPSU ive not looked into it but a lot of folks have startup problems etc.

    • @mPDC-gh8jy
      @mPDC-gh8jy 3 года назад

@@ebaystars I think that's a good idea, and I know that some people have actually made such modifications. But if you just want to troubleshoot, I think you should first suspect the internal DC power cable header. In fact, I've recovered some 2496 series units (that have the same SMPSU and its output cable & header) with this header repair.
