Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own, unique take on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three adorable ways to use our handy dandy Missouri Star 8" Equilateral 60 Degree Triangle Ruler.
Natalie's "Mountain Magic" quilt is made with yardage and two fabric panels. Natalie chose the National Parks - Rocky Mountains Pillow Panels by Anderson Design Group for Riley Blake. She fussy cuts her panels to feature pretty mountains, trees, and woodland creatures in every block!
Jenny's "Hexie Stacks" quilt is made with 2.5 inch strips of precut fabric (jelly rolls). Her fabric is Artisan Batiks Holiday Moments Metallic Roll Up by Lunn Studios for Robert Kaufman--a perfect choice for a Christmas quilt! This show-stopping strip set pattern creates enough leftovers to make TWO bonus table runners. 1 easy block; 3 gorgeous layouts!
Misty's "Grandma Etta's Stars" quilt is made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cakes). Her fabric is Love Always by Anna Maria for Free Spirit Fabrics. This quilt is a recreation of a treasured heirloom quilt made by Misty's great-great-grandmother.

Lol ladies, just when I think no way you can top the prior best ever triple play.....you do! Loved all three!
Always enjoy the triple play and the variety
Natalie always comes up with a winner.
They look difficult but really they’re not!
Love your coordination in blouses very autumnal xx
Grandma Edda would be proud! All the quilts (and runners!) are fantastic!! Thanks Girls!!
I love them all ! Jenny you look great !
All are beautiful quilts, but i must congratulate Misty on such a stunning pattern , especially honouring her great grandma. Truly wonderful. I could see how much this quilt meant to her too. X
Love Misty's quilt!
LOVE "Grandma Etta's" quilt pattern! I know I took her much longer to make the original quilt and I stand in awe of her piecing of this. Kudos to you for tackling this beautiful pattern, Misty! Lovely job, ladies!
WOW... REALLY LOVE ALL YOUR QUILTS... COOL AND BEAUTIFUL
Natalie-amazingly creative.
Love this idea with the panel. I keep washi tape to mark special lines on my rulers. You ladies rock!
Wow....you gals really are creative. Natalie--most excellent use of the panel.
Beautiful quilts ladies!
All are absolutely gorgeous
Misty, what a beautiful tribute to your great grandma! Lovely quilt!!!
thanks for a way to use different rulers- great project- Misty's quilt is just gorgous... love the strong pattern but so balanced with the accent fabric and background. BEAUTIful textile designer there.
Amazing use of template. Wow
Love the different showings. Thank you
I love all the quilts today they are beautiful
Wow, all three are winners! I love Natalie's especially.
Oh my wow! They are all lovely, but Misty and her fabric choices blew my mind! ❤
Oh my! I'm like most-Natalie's version of using a panel would be so fun for a kid's quilt. Jenny's version-wow-the possibilities!! I made my youngest granddaughter who is now 6 a quilt I think when she was 2 sorta using Jenny's method-just smaller triangles. I have several pieced triangles left & have been trying to decide what to make with them & I probably could do a smaller version of the table runner! Or make mug rugs :) And of course Misty's version of her Great, Great Grandmother's is just gorgeous!
Thanks as always for all you do!!
Awesome once again! Love love the triple play!
I really like Misty's style and quilt. It's awesome.
I just love you three!💕💕💕
What a treasure, Misty! That is beautiful! ❤️❤️
I live all the triple plays!
Misty can you imagine making your quilt by hand like your great great grandma did.
I personally can not imagine cutting into those beautiful National Park panels...the scenery and colors are just so gorgeous. I’m presently using 9 of the NP panels to make a quilt celebrating our travels to these spectacular places. However, I very much appreciate Jenny’s, Misty’s, and Natalie’s individual choices. Thank you all, I wouldn’t miss your videos.
Natalie is genius ♥️♥️
Thank you--Love these tutorials!
You ladies are so great beautiful quilts.
You ladies are amazing. It's really awesome how creative you are in using the same tools. I think I have to make all of these. LOL
Great quilt ladies. Natalie, I would use three panels so you capture the words and use them in the backing of the quilt. Misty, this inspires me to recreate this in a miniature quilt. Jenny, as always, such great ideas.
Live love this triple play!
Fun, love you ladies. Always present us with great ideas.
I just love how the three of you work together!

Another fun triple play day...you ladies are totally amazing 🥰🥰🥰
I love how this trio always comes up with very different ideas for the same concept. Natalie's quilt is my favorite. Creative, modern and the colors go together very well
I’d love to try Misty’s pattern with large triangles. All 3 of these are great 👍
Love great great grandmas quilt, you are all such clever ladies
LIVE LOVE LOVE the idea of cutting up a panel!!!
I have the exact same holiday jelly roll! What a lovely project. Thank you!
This is the first time I’ve wanted to use a panel! Awesome!
Me too. Lol
Natalie, you’ve given us a whole new way of looking at panels. Ordinarily, I pass them up because I can’t think of anything different to do with them beyond the tired old “sash-and-border” quilt. But your idea to fussy cut the elements is simply brilliant. Thank you!
Ll
I agree. Such a great idea 😊
A clever approach.
Yes, I’m going to try this with Yellowstone panels 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Liked these ideas. Thank you
Love your triple plays, the three of you show such distinctive creativity! Especially like how Misty uses negative space.
The creativity in the room with the three of you is astounding! The triple play video is always a must see for me. Not a thing wrong with just putting borders on panels, they are great, but WOW!!Natalie your take on the panel is amazing and it is completely doable for any level quilter. For me, that is very much appreciated. Again, today’s video gave us three great quilts. Can’t choose? Just make all three!!😁
Gals you've done it again. Natalie....I'm really impressed with your presentation. Jenny, love what you did too. However, my no#1 vote for this Triple Play goes to Misty!!! Awesome girl, really awesome!
Thanks for all you three gals do....you are amazing!
Natalie, you have such an amazing color sense. I always love your creativity in putting together beautiful colors. The colors in your quilt are stunning. Thank you!!

ALL of you showed such different, clever designs! I loved and would make each of them! Thanks ladies😊
So much talent!!! I want to quilt!
I just love seeing the 3 of you together. What amazing quilts!
Natalie could use the words from the panel for a border. Very inspiring!
I thought of the same thing
So did we !
One could also use it as part of the sleeve.
Beautiful and super interesting!
Love this idea!!!
Those are all beautiful. I think this might be my favorite triple play. I've never had a favorite, because I just liked all of them so much. ❤️
