This is the first madden I've been consistently getting user lurks. It's really easier to use the linebacker or safety than it was years prior.
@Ricj 27 it's more realistic. In real life anytime an interception is thrown it's usually the QBs fault. You rarely see a lb or a safety jump and pic off a perfectly pass. It happens but not 3-4 times a game like in madden. Then again madden is FAR from simulation football.

As a linebacker yesterday a picked a ball off that was 5 yards away from me it was crazy first time in this madden
And that's the gripe that I have with madden.. even if you call a coverage where a defensive player is suppose to sit right in zone coverage in those spots, they still allow receivers to cross right in front of them and slant right in front of them unchecked as if they don't even see them.. like what's the point of calling the coverage if he's not going to cover the area he's suppose to cover.. that in effect FORCES me to have to play with a LB or S instead on being able to play with my favorite players like Donald and Bosa and Watt etc. without having to worry about slants and crossing routes killing me..I don't feel like I should be FORCED to play LB in order to be successful.. if AI players have good enough coverage skills and ratings, they should be able to defend without me having to user them
Try playing Safety, my defense improved a bit when I started using the safety and just cover the deep third or come up for run support
Not all zones are equal. Especially in M20. You gotta really pay attention to the type of zone each player is going to play post-snap and adjust accordingly if you don't like what you see.
Things like knowing the difference between how AI players are gonna act when in a Mid Zone vs a Soft Squat vs a Seam Flat, etc., as well as how Over Vs Under coverage plays work, are key to mastering defense in Madden.
The difficulty also matters a hell of a lot. If you are playing on anything less than All-Pro the AI is just plain ignorant, especially on defense. You only really see the AI defenses play as realistically as Madden is capable of when you play the game vs a high rated team on All-Madden difficulty.
Don’t you think short routes would just be unusable if AI linebackers were able to get in front of any receiver in their zone?? I would MUCH rather have slightly dumb AI than op AI. Same goes for every sports game I’ve played. It’s annoying you can’t play in the line but what can ya do

The run is over powered, I watched pros use the cowboys and score back to back touchdowns with zeke. Madden is terrible
Runs aren’t necessarily OP, they are bad. But the issue is defensive crashing, and OP players. I get it they want to make Zeke and others feel different, but being able to spam the same run play and score multiple times is bs

I play with my titans and our dline and their is average at best..hard to get pressure on my homies qbs without blitzing..I give up soo many 3rd and longs..some please help me .. I manage to keep the game close thou some please help me
This is by design in madden and in real life. as a defender your rules in pass coverage are to play deep to short. You are taught to let them catch underneath and rally to the tackle. How ever, you can gamble or the coach that week in practice will say" i know our zone rules, but against this team etc i want you to do this or that. the game is correct.
I appreciate the tips I noticed my picks have went with taking away one route over the middle know I’m confident enough to peel off quickly to the second route! Good stuff, I like ur tips!

Has getting user interceptions been the same in madden 18, 19, and 20 where you have to time it instead of just holding ‘Y/Triangle’ the whole play?

Right, zones not working properly, tackling is horrid this year, the CPU with watch a ball carrier coming toward them and not even attempt to make a play
Defense is fine I lock people up with zone and man like you can’t sit in the same coverage this year which is great
@@ondovids9253 I never sit in one defense but cloud flats are broken at the moment which is why everyone runs corner routes and post routes toward the sidelines, I've even seen deep blues let players run right past them

I was getting killed online in madden because I kept using the D line I’ve been winning convincingly most of my games now by taking out the first route and sacking them especially if I blitz and shut out the first 2 routes it’s a wrap!

@@florianidschok nah I run pa deep outs slot and you can't stop it unless you got superstar x factor. I use cover 6 and do the outside coverage or cover 3 and use the olb man the reciever doing it. It will give an over and under double team then user that guy

I wouldn't say they nerfed LBs because you cant get ridiculous interceptions where you allow a WR to run by you then accelerate super fast and pick it off or jump 10 feet in the air. Users still move a light speed in this game and are rewarded for nonsense so it really doesnt matter how well you read defenses. Users can run around in circles and cover 3 or 4 different routes on one play!

@@ondovids9253 I dont throw at users but I've seen user picks 10 yards under the pass, or they cover an insane amount of ground and catch 90 speed Terry holt with their 85 spd lb, or they completely change direction with out any loss of momentum whereas when i user i see a bunch of out of reach when I'm in the same vicinity, or I get no animation, or I'll be in position to get the lurk and wont get the lurk or the ball just wraps through my lb
So what you saying is if your playing with a game changing DL like Donald or Cox you would still user defend the middle with a LB & let cpu apply the pass rush?

AI sucks bc players actually stick to assignment detail. Usering especially with LBs needed to get nerfed a bit bc when running choice routes to play against the 90% of players who key on the LB receivers never seem to break off routes properly. Happy to run the ball and piss people off

Just funny, he users the LB to show him covering the route but X is wide open but his other user chooses not to throw the pass therefore wow great coverage and a sack, but then he users the DE and B is equally as wide open and the other user actually chooses to pass it and wouldn't you know it, the wide open receiver can catch the ball when the other user actually chooses to pass it. It's all set up to make it look like 100% effectiveness but it's rigged in the first place. I bet the practice difficulty was on Pro too.
Whats the CORRECT D for guys running deep out crossers with like 3 wrs running towards a side concept . I Have dime 146 man up outside wrs but i get burnt crossing LATE into the route if i dnt get pressure. Thnks comm

I'm practicing but they seem to be so fast that only a safety could stop them, if not if you could show us I'd appreciate it. #RBRN

How do you you drop eight into coverage and have a third rate receiver catch the ball in triple coverage, shed the tackle and run it 60 yards for a TD with 0 on the clock to take the lead?

Been playing madden since madden 64 and I rarely played against people over the years, fast forward a few decades and I finally get into mut and it's very weird switching off the dline to user a mlb or safety, just wasn't used to it since theres literally zero reason to user against the cpu. Next madden I'll focus on playing people more and work on usering more. I'm one of those people that likes mut but would like more options for playing against the cpu too because I'm just not that into playing against people tbh.

Kevin Brezinski making it more realistic than last year. It’s not being Nerf. But dBs are super OP. And even with linebackers. I’ve picked off at least 30 passes in 20 games I wouldn’t call that nerfed
@@MaximusTheChosenOne pro athletes not being able to jump 4 inches off the ground and DBs/lbs who in zones watch balls pass directly over their heads is not realistic. It's the polar opposite opposite of years past overpowered users. As I said....cant we just have a happy medium?

I user linebackers an most times they dont swat or pick over 15yrds. They automatically go into a tackle animation while the receiver catch the ball

How can you save the Audibles you change in playbooks? Cause I hate spending a bunch of time at the start switching out audibles for a team and then have it all rest after.
I tried to do that but I’m a little confused as I could only pick like 8 plays or something before it said I couldn’t pick anymore. Are the rest just like default plays that every playbook has in it?

Nathan Buie Depends on where your zones are. If I have a zone behind me that is in good position, I’ll take away the shallow. If I have hard flats, I will let them handle the drags and I will take away the deep corner.
Mixing it up like this will also make it harder for the opponent to make his/her reads.

1.When running the ball why is miles sanders playing like he's a real life Dereick Henry or young Marshawn Lynch breaking 3 or 4 tackles from DT's,Elite Linenackers and guys like Richard Sherman?
Pass blocking all of a sudden Jason Peters blocks Nick Bosa for 8 seconds and Lane Johnson blocks Dee Ford for 6 or 7 seconds without having any extra needed blockers, or having to double anyone but yet online they're no match for those pass rushers getting beat by three and four man rushes in less than three seconds which is actually realistic from the Eagles oline last year! Also I tested out blitzes noone free!
3. Guys like Desean Jackson and Agholor are breaking 3 or 4 Tackles they even have Zach Ertz breaking tackles oh my goodness!
4.You can also win an aggressive catch with any WR against any Corner I had Desean 5'10 consistently beat Richard Sherman who is 6'3 with aggressive catches hell even when I'm not aggressive catching! Agholor also beats the #2 CB who is 6'2 every single time like he's trash! Sherman also can't stick with Desean in practice but he does online!

User the Middle LB over the usual slant routes your opponent is throwing and if the slant routes cross this is chance for a pick or a sack bc once they cross their plan is to throw to that second slant route but if you cover it you just got rid of his main choice forcing him to look somewhere else or if he’s hard headed ur should be a pick
