Rewatching this in my 30’s, it hits differently. As a kid, I felt like the show painted it as though Cory was the good influence on Shawn, keeping him from drowning in the sea of things stacked against him. Deadbeat parents, unstable home life, poverty, etc. But rewatching it as an adult, we see that while Cory was a constant source of goodness for Shawn, Shawn still had to put in the work. It doesn’t matter how much good influences are in your life- it’s down to you to make good choices.
Allen blaming Shawn about influencing Cory to drink was a really painful but real scene cause up to that point he had supported Shawn but he suddenly turned on him, going back to stereotypes. Great scene.
I lived a lot like Shawn in my teenage years. I was a ward of the state and went to a lot of foster homes where everyone in the town thought that I was the bad influence because of the fact that I was in foster care. Difference between us was he had the Mattews and Mr.Turner.
Of all the characters he had it rough the most. And im glad he had his happy ending on girl meets world by marrying the woman he loves and finally had his own family to take care of. He went from losing his loved ones to gaining friends, love and family. He's def one of my fave character on the show.
I love that Cory is not perfect and he doesn’t always make the best decisions but his deep love and absolute loyalty to Shawn is everything that matters in the world. Shawn loves him just the same but he’s always terrified of not being good enough for and losing him and his growth over the show to realize the Mathews are his true family.
@11:30 HUGE thing to point out - when Shawn says "it's okay" after Alan apologizes and Alan immediately says no, it's not... that's a big deal. So many people default to saying "it's okay" after receiving an apology. Whether we're consciously aware of it or not, accepting an apology by saying "it's okay" can make it seem like what happened was okay and completely dismiss the harm it caused. Toxic people thrive on that, and will continue to keep saying and doing hurtful things. The writers show a lot of wisdom in making sure that Alan makes a point of firmly saying it wasn't okay and apologized again.
Also especially with the adult and kid dynamic. Adults have a hard time admitting when they’re wrong when it comes to kids. Apologies should come from whomever does wrong, it shows accountability, maturity, compassion for the others feelings, and humanity because we ALL make mistakes.
As a troubled kid with an alcoholic father who was never there and a single mom on disability. The character of Shawn was one I really could relate to. Rider is an incredible actor I hope he gets more roles soon
The scene that make me in tears is when Shawn cried to Chet because he don't wanna lose him. But at last Shawn lost him. It's not just sitcom comedy but there's some scene in any seasons being serious scene. I love this show, but when Shawn lost Chet and the doctor tell Shawn Chet passed away, I'm in tears

So I'm glad that he followed what he was happiest doing, but it's definitely a loss for us viewers, because he really is a ridiculously talented actor!
The scene where Shawn is drinking and he pushes Angela off.. you can tell that as an actor he had to for the scene… but the actor as himself instinctively “shoves” her by spinning and not really pushing her. And pulling his hands back as not to hit her as his spin follows through. The reaction is so genuine and he really doesn’t want to hurt anyone even if it isn’t real. 😭

Well, the thing is he did grow up as a trouble family and didn’t grow up like Cory did. But the Matthews are sort of Shawn’s second Family throughout the show series
I remember watching the cult episode and it taught me about people who really think and act like that. I feel that back then you could learn things from TV, not sure about now.

This show was EVERYTHING. It was sad to see the spin off Girl Meets World not do as well. And that's nothing to do with the actors/actreses. The world today doesn't appreciate this kind of story telling cause it's too real. It's too close to home. The spin off had amazing storylines but this world wasnt open to it like we were then with this show.
21:15 it's really sad that is actually the last episode that I remember Mr. Turner showing up in. I remember because I made a huge deal out of it to my dad like a year later... Mind you, my dad didn't watch the show. I'll look it up, but I distinctly remember never seeing Turner again.
i dont think it was the best idea for boy meets world to have shawns dad come back as a dad who's gonna stay and reform himself because the reason shawn's character even exists is so kids watching the show could have someone to relate to but now they see that his dad came back and it gives them false hope and instead of using the time of growing up to learn to accept that they have a absent dad they're gonna spend that time just sitting there like when is my dad gonna come back how long do i have to wait why hasnt he come home yet and its gonna prolong their hurting for no good reason
Wow what happened to shows...? There was plenty of fun, but also plenty of real, actual hard life issues. And it was beautiful to be able to see these situations in fictional shows and have something to relate to whenever the issues happened in our own lives.
Simple Script, writers who only care about easy, fast money. 2)people sitting in front of their tvs on their phones doing surveys that promote the development of trash TV shows all because they complain of having to watch the same thing or show over and over again. 3) the ones the Raiders, I mean who actually care to write actual relatable issues into the script of a TV show have either retired or are now dead. Or they get laid off because today's generation really doesn't care about that stuff or the fact that today's generation and beyond are so sensitive and don't want their feelings hurt or to face their demons etc. Whatever you get my point .

I am an orphan, I'm just an old orphan, lines that I can relate to, people don't understand sometimes, the invitations to be a part of a family, to be excepted by family, it's hard for someone who is not working to accept those invitations, no matter how old they are, because you always feel like it should be your so-called true family or immediate family, so I definitely understand what Shawn was feeling, but, he did get to give someone else a family in Mya and her mother in girl meets world, I understand why they didn't go into it in this collection of scenes, but he had one of the best completions that he could've had. Watching the show as a kid, and revisiting it now is so crazy to see how much I actually relate to him.
I'll start this by saying that I haven't watched Boy Meets World yet (def going to after this) but from the videos and compilations of the show on RUclips that I have watched I know that I relate to Shawn in almost every way. We have almost the same personality, style choice, somewhat have the same mindset, absent mother, shitty father, been in some of the same shitty shady situations, we even look like we could be twin brothers. And just seeing this video ESPECIALLY when Chet has his heart attack and Shawn and him have a heart to heart (pun not intended), it just made me so happy to feel represented. To feel seen and heard. To feel like I'm not alone. To see the reconciliation, the closure that me and my father could have. And even though you specifically didn't make this character and his relationships. I still want to thank you for making this video and posting it. Because if you hadn't, I wouldn't feel the way I do now. I genuinely cried because of this video. So sincerely. Thank you!!!
Spider-Man comic writers: "Hey guys, I just watched this show called Boy Meets World and I have an idea on how to treat Spider-Man for the rest of time!"
Angela did Shawn so dirty!! " Only you know how important it is for me to have this time with my dad" and " I only wish you coulda had the same, I'm sorry you didn't." Talk about rubbing salt in a wound!! 💢. And why did they have to break up? She seemed so selfish, and almost uncaring.
I think that Shawn is a very important character in the show but I am glad I didn’t went through the same family’s issues he did. Because I grew up the way how Cory did.
Tbh though Shawn had his moments where he wasn’t. He got better as the years went on and he could be a good person. But he was also before Angela, a bit of a womanizer. Don’t get me wrong, I love his character but I get why some girls said those things to him in the show.
People always talk about how Shawn needed Cory to influence him to see and feel worthy of the good in life, which Cory did. Without Cory, Shawn would have definitely ended up behind bars and into some hardcore stuff he shouldn't have been messing with, but in reality... Well, Cory needed Shawn as well. Shawn pulled Cory out of the perfectly imperfect little suburban life he otherwise would have been blocked into until he was much much older. Cory needed to get his life dirty, and Shawn did that - and Shawn needed his life cleaned up a little (okay maybe a lot) and Cory was able to help him do that. The real truth is - Cory and Shawn's friendship, which became the crux of the show, was necessary for both of them. There is no friendship like Shawn and Cory - they are still, in my opinion, the OTP of all friendships.
Too bad, in real life on the show, Cory, Topanga and Cory's older brother Were mean, rude and nasty on the show to Shawn's black girlfriend in College for years Topanga apologized a couple of years ago, but this still shows, those 3 are not good people at all
Will Friedel apologized 22 years ago for his comments and stated that he never realized they would impact her. It's only Cory who hasn't said anything but Angela has never mentioned anything about him either
Maturity is realizing that Shawn’s dad wasn’t a great dad but he was a decent person. Decent people know they’re not good parents but they do desire a better life for you. Look at how his dad lived. He really was in the best position without him raising him.
Shawn kinda had a victim mentality all throughout this show. He was literally just walking trauma and I get it because I lived his life irl but it’s not fair that he acts like Jack isn’t his son. Like isn’t Jack older anyway? It’s not fair to invalidate his experiences just because you had a rough life. They both did.
They gave him a big check for having to go through so much that's what. If they didn't then may they all diarrhea on themselves in front of 1000 people with everybody watching.

A main character, the second season of BMW where it shows Cory,Shawn, and Eric is when they chose the main characters
It's sad i felt like Shawn up until a couple months ago finally i have realized what i have to offer and I'm going for my goals
1 of the saddest moment was when Chet told Shawn he’s staying for good but then he ends leaving for good instead😭
Well, the thing is he did grow up as a trouble family and didn’t grow up like Cory did. But the Matthews are sort of Shawn’s second Family throughout the show series
I still can't believe they took out mr. Turner from the show.. His relationship with Shawn was great.. 😔
I remember watching the cult episode and it taught me about people who really think and act like that. I feel that back then you could learn things from TV, not sure about now.
worst part about Turner in the hospital is that's the last time we see him in Boy Meets World.
So I guess it's inferred that he died?
@@PontFlair Actually, no. He "shows up" in a later episode in which Minkus says hi to Corey and Shawn shortly before graduation. Says he's at the other side of school. Corey and Shawn don't go there because you won't come back, and then Minkus calls out to Mr. Turner.
Mr. Turner also shows up in Girl Meets World in which he lies to Corey and Topanga's daughter about Corey being a good student.
Ryder's back must be in constant pain from carrying the show for seven years.
I love this show so much, i feel so bad for shawn…
19:00 I agree with topanga, on this specifically, and it's only gotten substantially worse
Now we just need 30 minutes of Shawn being hot ♥️
I want it too, but there aren't enough scenes. :(
Next time I re-watch the show, I'll see if there are good enough scenes left in which he's cute or hot, and if there are, I'll make one more video on that topic.
@@BoyMeetsWorldWeekly Can you do one more Shawn’s saddest moments? I saw in the description you says there are even more sad moments. Or is that going to be the video on Friday on April 15 of his serious moments?!
Shawn learned family and caring through Mr. Turner,Mr. Feeny, and the Matthews.
I love when he says “I don’t know anything I’m just cute and fun to watch” very true
This made me cry so hard Shawn had such a real but messed up backstory 💔
12:24 man, Jack was such a great addition to the show
19:10 is pure gold.
i like this actor who played mr turner hes awsome to help out shawn and the issues hes going threw i am glad i have someone in my life whos been like a good mentor to me then my own dad
Shawn was the most important character to me because I’m him , nobody gives a shit about my feelings
“You’re Shawn Hunter…you were raised by wolves, you’re MY FRIEND!!! Wtf, Cory??? 🤣🤣
😂😂
If you think about it, if Shawn didn't have a best friend like Cory in his life, who knows where he would've ended up. Cory was really a true friend to Shawn. No matter how much Shawn got mad at him, he was still there for him the whole way. Now that's a true best friend.
i wish i watch this was younger but i didnt have cable so i couldnt, i didnt watch this show til highschool still impacts me til this day but shawn talking about growing up broke etc. reallly hits at time for me and im greatful they made a show like this for kids
Shawn and Turner's relationship is great
21:15 it's really sad that is actually the last episode that I remember Mr. Turner showing up in.
I remember because I made a huge deal out of it to my dad like a year later... Mind you, my dad didn't watch the show.
I'll look it up, but I distinctly remember never seeing Turner again.
i dont think it was the best idea for boy meets world to have shawns dad come back as a dad who's gonna stay and reform himself because the reason shawn's character even exists is so kids watching the show could have someone to relate to but now they see that his dad came back and it gives them false hope and instead of using the time of growing up to learn to accept that they have a absent dad they're gonna spend that time just sitting there like when is my dad gonna come back how long do i have to wait why hasnt he come home yet and its gonna prolong their hurting for no good reason
im sorry when i heard “did you know you guys were fighting each other?” i had to laugh
I would love to have a friendship like that
Jonathan Turner really saved Shawn’s life
Wow what happened to shows...?
@@GoldenGOD-h7tliterally whenever a show has a minority cast or talks about minority issues are called "woke" bmw could come out today no difference except Shawn being black and it would be called woke I'd bet money on it
@@hibarikyoya854 plus I hate the way they display the fights in these shows the fights aren't even close to reality. Do you know Dagen well a fight is more brutal than the way they display it on the sitcom. Like I mean, come on where is the blood and the Knotted up faces and broken noses?
*sigh* I guess it’s time to watch Boy Meets World again
Spider-Man comic writers: "Hey guys, I just watched this show called Boy Meets World and I have an idea on how to treat Spider-Man for the rest of time!"
Angela did Shawn so dirty!! " Only you know how important it is for me to have this time with my dad" and " I only wish you coulda had the same, I'm sorry you didn't." Talk about rubbing salt in a wound!! 💢. And why did they have to break up? She seemed so selfish, and almost uncaring.
Boy Meets World Weekly, thank you for posting these clips.
I am so glad I’m rewatching this on Pod Meets World
I think that Shawn is a very important character in the show but I am glad I didn’t went through the same family’s issues he did. Because I grew up the way how Cory did.
Chet dying got me 😭
“You’re not boyfriend material.”
*audience laughs*
Tbh though Shawn had his moments where he wasn’t. He got better as the years went on and he could be a good person. But he was also before Angela, a bit of a womanizer. Don’t get me wrong, I love his character but I get why some girls said those things to him in the show.
I know its supposed to be a sad moment but when the teacher says "Do you guys know you were fighting each other?" I crack
31:11 gave me tears in my eyes
Same 😭
People always talk about how Shawn needed Cory to influence him to see and feel worthy of the good in life, which Cory did.
Chet's heart attack! 😢😭
And Shawn's prayer when Turner is in the hospital.
6:02 Shawn suddenly has the voice of pre-pubescent Cory.
"Did you guys know you were fighting each other??"
I thought i was tripping
Both of my parents are out of my life and I hate it so much when I feel sorry for myself. I feel that moment where he says “stop whining, I hate you”
That pig is cute as heck munchin that lunch
Shawn turned out to be a great guy 😌
I like how the show dealt with real issues they let those factors grow up they will no longer children
Too bad, in real life on the show,
Cory, Topanga and Cory's older brother
Were mean, rude and nasty on the show to Shawn's black girlfriend in College for years
Topanga apologized a couple of years ago, but this still shows, those 3 are not good people at all
The characters or the people?
Exactly those racist pricks
@@ryanschaefer4847 the people, off camera, after filming their scenes
@@endtimeslastdays7777 kk, I was genuinely confused and trying to understand which.
Didn't know that, pretty shitty of them 😑
Will Friedel apologized 22 years ago for his comments and stated that he never realized they would impact her. It's only Cory who hasn't said anything but Angela has never mentioned anything about him either
I loved ‘Shawn’ and ‘Angela’ together just like I like ‘Chandler’ and ‘Monica’ as a couple.
‘Angela’ broke ‘Shawn’s’ heart, but I understand why.
I feel like I’m starting to see why people prefer this show compared to the spinoff series
I didn't remember the part where chet says that now he can get a little sleep. Wow
i never understood at 12:52, why angela thinks shawn’s BEST friend and brother don’t need to be involved in this situation. that pisses me off
Maturity is realizing that Shawn’s dad wasn’t a great dad but he was a decent person. Decent people know they’re not good parents but they do desire a better life for you. Look at how his dad lived. He really was in the best position without him raising him.
23:35 is this a plot hole because in the earlier seasons Shawn has a brother named Eddie that lives at the trailer park
Jesus. There's a SECOND part? And it's nearly FORTY MINUTES? What did the writers do to this poor guy???
They gave him a big check for having to go through so much that's what. If they didn't then may they all diarrhea on themselves in front of 1000 people with everybody watching.
Saddest part is there are real life Shawn’s but they don’t have a Cory 😢
They are out there you just have to look for them. And hold a conversation to find that out for yourself.
