I’m a disabled 20 year retired veteran and I can say after reconstructive knee surgery the ultrashift is much better for my left knee. I can float gears with the best of em, but you gotta come to a stop at some point.

Beautiful truck, even if it is automated 😂. Be nice if they used a different method than that “tower” for the trans. If you’re not going to have the stick, at least have the room.

I can appreciate and understand why people choose manual or automatic transmissions. Everyone has a reason for liking what they like. Doesn’t matter what transmission you have, if you have a sleeper or a day cab, ant eater front end or square, drive a kenny or a pete. We’re all out there with a love for the road and the satisfaction of backing into a tight spot.
Drive safe, give a wave, blow the horn for the arm pump, and never stop hauling.

Another thing to everyone who sees your videos, I recognize you are not the typical salesman. Whether it was Tim Ghorley or others, everyone highly recommends you and your finished products. The service and ability to be reached after the sale must be second to none. The thought put into what you sell, from extra insulation for extreme temps, to arctic wrapped fuel lines and problem free Davco fuel filters speaks volumes. Long story short, you know your shit and must be good to deal with. That's not common in today's world. It seems once the taillights disappear, that's the end usually. Oh, and crankin' out bitchin' trucks doesn't hurt either. Kudos to you and your men who work for/with you.

I don't know how long this Coronavirus thing will last, but DOT just suspended the hour limits for truckers, Maybe the EPA should suspend the emission requirements on trucks so they're more reliable and the truck builders should put out some less expensive no frills rigs, so more people could get on the road and get the job done, cause chrome don't get ya home. Just saying.

I just Peterbilt would stop using that hideous selector tower on the 389. The 579 and 567 have a selector on the shifter column which opens up that floor space. I guess I would think that Peterbilt would improve their flagship model with something better looking.

I’ve been in a 10 speed automatic now for just about three years, pulling tankers through the Sierras and the Cascades. My only gripe is when I get to a customer on rough ground, I have trouble with traction. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if it wasn’t for my application being in agriculture and feeling like I would get stuck. I am very glad that these automatics are coming to main stream, they are remarkable when ran correctly and given a chance

Is there a difference in fuel mileage between the automated and manual

    • @hawki5120
      @hawki5120 4 года назад +1

It's kind of hard to say because how you drive the manual makes a very big difference. The automated will shift consistently for fuel millage. If your careful shifting the manual there pretty close if you feel the need to rap it out to 2100 RPM before you shift and floor it coming up to a long climb the automated will eat your lunch.

If you played baseball, your batting average would be through the roof! You continue to knock them out of the park. As far as the automated 18 goes, some like them and have a reasoning for them (as you said), some don't. While not my cup of tea so to speak, I truly understand the need and desire. Regardless, it's still a beautiful flippin' truck! People need to realize that. Keep on keepin' on Steve. With all that said, I do have to say that I do really miss the intro from your older videos though. Great content!

Very beautiful. What’s the weight difference for the exact same specs on a flattop. Thank you.

Beautiful truck, you sure know how spec one. I've been driving for 40years and wouldn't even consider anything but an auto, never drove one but I feel I would have a hard time not driving it more aggressive. How much for this beauty?

Put my name on it, she is a beauty Steve. It would look good in the grain line at the elevator. I don't know what I would do without a clutch.
Now, just get corn and soy prices out of the pits and into the money so we can do it. :)

Short farings are popular cause it's getting hard to find drivers that don't smash em into the trailer

I’m getting my 18 speed manual 389 on Monday, I’ve driven both manual and automatic, I’d much prefer the manual myself, when reversing to a dock in an automatic, you apply fuel, nothing is there, then, it is…then you slam off the dock like a rookie…that don’t happen with a clutch….my 2 cents

  • @russellking9762

I am a manual diehard....but Steve if you or somebody or The Lord above were to give me that truck i would not say "no thanks"....NO...i would not say that....I absolutely would not say that...you have my word i would not say that...you would convert me right then and there...!

The folks complaining about the transmission being automated are only mad because they had to shift the hard way for so many years, and now all the skill they built up doing it is completely useless 😂👍🏻

Ultra shift looks stupid lol ur doing all of that to still be automatic. U took up walk space for a big box that look like Salvation Army donation box lol. If ur gonna go auto get the shifter one lol with the jakes and gear selector on the same lever

  • @berniesands6201

Why shift if it's not necessary anymore... especially when you get better fuel mileage in the automated.

Steve, I couldn't agree with you more on the ultra shift. The first auto I drove (2010 model) I was one of those "This is a girls truck" guys. Didn't like it at first. But I tell you what, after about six months I got to liking if quite a bit. In stop and go traffic they are great. Subsequent models the shifting got MUCH improved. I agree with what you said. Just let it go guys. To each their own.
