I love the videos where you explain the quality of soil and regenerative farming. I hope you have a play list because I watch several Portuguese channels. They really need this information, and I always refer to your channels that are planting.

@@kathydoran6176Dear Kathy, Thank you.so kick for recommending us! I will make a series on this topic! It's sprinkled though all our content. But it is good to make it into a series. The playlist growing and farming contains most of it so far! Thanks again!

Dear Justyn, Thank you for your wonderful comment and good question! We are blessed (and sometimes cursed, haha) with mild winters here. It gets cold, but hardly ever freezes (some morning frost here and there but little)... so we can leave the lemon grass outside (although it would do better in the greenhouse for sure, it won't die outside). We used to take them indoors when we were farming in below 0 temp (celsius). Hope that helps. If it freezes where you are, definitely take them in!!! :)

@@thefarmingchefs thank you for you quick and helpful reply. I will bring it in this week as temps will be well below freezing by next weekend. I would love to come visit your farm and participate in one of your trainings/classes, even help out on your farm. But NY is a bit of Drive/Fly/Boat to get to Portugal (I was there once when I was 18 though! My father took art tours to mostly Italy but we traveled to other European countries as well. I got to go with him on a 6 week tour. Portugal remains in my heart as so incredibly beautiful. Also Switzerland!!! and of course Italy.) Anyway, thank you again for your reply. I always smile when I see you have posted a new video. Blessing of joy, health, provision, hope and abundance be yours and your family and community.

Thanks Sophie! You have come to the same conclusions I have. It is all tradeoffs. I am going to try cellophane bags instead of plastic row covers this spring. I will pass on how they work. I expect they will be disposable but they break down into cellulose so that is better. Thanks again!

@@kellymurdock5982 dear Kelly! That makes me very happy. Life is not perfect, we do what we can! Do let me know how that works out! I am very curious to know how you find it! Thank you ;)

Honestly, "whatever works" is fine, if it alows you to live on and off the land.
Anyway, comercial organic vegetable farmming cant really exist without plastic: pipes, valves, pots, greenhouses, boxes, bags, tarps and plastic mulches, etc.
Plastic is a revolution in farmming (and else where). Too much, or bad use of it, its a problem. But, trying to go without it is just a shot in the foot.

Indeed, a life without plastic, currently is not economically viable i think :) Thank you for you feedback

I know it can be so frustrating. Is it too dry or too cold? We have very similar climates, but apparently not in this season... Curious to hear more!
