- Cliff Richard (born as Harry Rodger Webb, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, October 14, 1940) is an English singer and actor. Since he was knighted in 1995, Cliff Richard, originally an artist name, has also been his official name.
Harry Webb was born in Lucknow in India and chose his stage name in 1958. His first song ‘Move It’ was actually the b-side of a cover namely the song Schoolboy crush, but Radio Luxemburg chose this side and it came in #2 in the British charts list. He had a string of hits in the 1960’s. He represented the United Kingdom twice at the Eurovision Song Contest with the songs ‘Congratulations’ in 1968 and ‘Power To All Our Friends’ in 1973, placing him in second and third place respectively.
In 1999, he scored his last number 1 hit in England with ‘The Millennium Prayer’.
He was in the Dutch charts in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s.
He scored 31 hits in the Dutch Top 40.

God I miss the days of this type of music.🎵❤️ I was a teenage girl in the 60's and danced to these types of songs well into the 70's.💕 (What a happier times they were) Thanks to RUclips, I can at least revisit on a daily bases. Especially now that we are all on lock down due to the Coronavirus. I just watch & listen to these music videos...And I also watch old/classic movies. I hardly watch any television now. All they report is Doom & Gloom. 😕 I do not understand why they can not report on how many people have overcome the virus...instead of how many positive tests & deaths. They should give us Hope. 🥰 Peace & Love to all of you 💑

Catchy pop songs had multi generational appeal. That's how TV light entertainment treated pop in the UK people like Cliff Richard and Lulu and Cilla Black had their own primetime Saturday TV shows proving in an abba kind of way that good songs can be fun for all ages it wasn't so important then to have a particular image a star name and easy to like tune could sell massive copies .and that's just the UK market ..happy days

Whoever wrote and produced this song, listened to too much sergeant pepper, if this was sung by the Beatles and on that album, you could believe it was a Lennon McCartney composition, but hey, directly, or indirectly, the Beatles inspired everybody, everyone, must like at least one (from the greatest band in the world ever) Beatles song.
Actually, Cliff Richard inspired The Beatles, John famously said before Cliff, there was nothing worth listening to in British Music.
