- Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zarnesti, Romania where approximately 80 brown bears are fed and can move freely around the 70 hectares of land and forest. Most of them have been rescued after living for many years in miserable conditions such as small cages or made to perform in a circus.
Are you kidding? They have approx 140 miles of land to move around in. Plenty of room. They probably are inequipped to live in the wild now. I think this is wonderful that people have chosen to rescue these bears! May God bless them all!

All the male bears are castrated to prevent fighting (and breeding). Not all bears are in just one enclosure. They are all rescue bears, because sadly in Romania for a very long time bears were held as tourist attractions etc. They do explain a bit about ho the hierarchy works within the bear groups in the documentary.
Thank-you for helping these amazing animals, I love bears I see black bears regularly when I go hiking around my neighborhood in Southern British Columbia. They always just ignore me, which is good as bears need to be wild and not comfortable around people then it can causes habituation. We all have to keep our garbage bins secure too in my neighborhood or else bears will get into them for free food.
Are they stressed because they are so many bears in one place? Normally bears like to live alone?
Like in the title: there is a sanctuary for orfan bears. So, could be temporary.
They're only in the one place as it is one of their feeding areas. So they congregate at feeding time is all.
it's not ideal but it's a far better life than they had.
Great work caring for these beautiful bears no more animals in circuses or cages for bear bile in asia, all of life is precious, I am vegan too!

Its the bear keeper who is feeding the bears, not the public. So all is well.

You can't set bears free that have been living in captivity for their whole life. Considering the circumstances most of these bears lived under before, this sanctuary gives them a lot of freedom. Please inform yourself before leaving such a comment.
If these bears would be set free the result will be their death. They are not used to live in the wild and will go near or inside villages for food . The result will be a conflict with local population and many, many issues. As in the Sanctuary, the bears are emasculated so there is no fight among them. The space is large enough.

People have been alot more dangerous to bears globally, ie. look up bears kept in cages for their whole lives for their bile, horrific. The good folks at this sanctuary are doing absolutely amazing work caring for these beautiful animals. There is a wire fence to keep human admirers from the bears.
