@@robinhood9128 'Mereology' is a rather obscure branch of philosophy dealing with parts and wholes. Consider, for example, a 'swarm of bees'. In English that's a singular noun, and the way we use it is often like a singular entity making singular choices, even though it's made up of objects that aren't even touching. We don't think of a single bee as being very intelligent, but swarms of bees do make collective decisions to, for example, out-smart bears who want their honey. What part of any decision is each bee? A strong similarity might be seen in our own brains, which are made up of many, many neurons which work in fairly simple and well-understood ways, and yet together produce things like 'thoughts' and 'consciousness'. It seems obvious that no individual neuron is 'thinking'... so where IS the 'thinker'? And, for that matter, how many thoughts does it take to make a 'consciousness'? I find this line on inquiry fascinating particularly when thinking about GROUPS of humans. If a group of bees can have one hive-mind that makes decisions no individual bee understands or perhaps is fully aware of, and the same thing occurs with a group of neurons, what, then, about a group of humans? We all certainly communicate and act together! Should we be looking for a human super-consciousness spread across millions of people? Is the clash of cultures and nations really the conflict of these entities more than the people themselves? It probably doesn't change much as a field. But I think it's a curious way to re-conceptualize events that can perhaps provide interesting insights!
I've actually watches and commented on this review from Jesse. I said her review was full of unfounded "assertions" and she missed the point of the film. I commented that she should thank The DW for exposing these grifters who damage her cause. I was told, I'm a bigot and a misogynist... apparently
@alphagt62 Possibly, Matt literally exposed people, making thousands from "snake oil". Some of Jesse's content is OK. You get a rational view. I seriously would have expected her to back Matt and "dis" these shills. I wander if she was scared of going against the Woke doctrine for fear of being cancelled herself...... she's not a stupid person. I like her content (but agree with it all)
The fact that Jesse uses the term ‘parody’ for Walsh’s movie is in itself an admission of how ridiculous the people appearing in it actually are. If their openly expressed views are being honestly represented but still look like a parody even to someone who presumably agrees with most, if not all, of those views then maybe it’s time for a little self reflection.
Michael Moore made a long career out of making documentaries from a particular point of view and they usually had a good helping of humor as well. He didn’t have any problems getting his movies reviewed, no matter the subject matter. It’s a legitimate gripe to call foul for what seems to be a “critics boycott” of Walsh’s theatrically-released documentary.
In the early 00s, we were shown one of his films in English class on film day. I was confused. I took part in local anti-war marches and didn't like Bush (my country fortunately didn't join the war) but what I saw in that film was so biased and stupid that it doesn't qualify as documentary
I think Moore is a mixed bag and has been pretty divisive, but I do recall a little guy who in 1989 released his little 16mm documentary via Warners and it was very popular. I think Moore was sincere then but lost the plot somewhere along the line, probably playing the line out too long. By the late 90s I believe it was time to wrap it up for him. It's very wrong what's being done towards Walsh and Co's documentary but it is expected in the current climate.
Which is a major reason for my deep skepticism ( if not, cynicism ) for the Hollywood-Entertainment-Arts Complex. If a movie critic, then why on earth wouldn't a review of Walsh's documentary ( successful one at that ) be JUST another movie to review? Especially one of timely cultural-social significance. Aren't "Art" and "Diversity" supposed to be about creativity and expression from....humanity? I'll give the critics not reviewing the movie the benefit-of-the-doubt that they are living outside a Bubble, but then again, are they beholden to their heavily-politically-biased employers and/or club memberships ( that are dominated by the Left )? I was taught years ago that Democrats were the Party of Tolerance, but this hypocrisy kills that message. If only the Arts were truly brave, open-minded, and humbly fair across the board.
I had an English teacher tell me to never use words/phrases like 'obviously' and 'clearly'. The teacher said by using those words/phrases you assume what the consumer knows when they probably know less than you think.
It's worse than that. It's a claim that if you disagree, you're stupid and/or ignorant. Which, of course, can lead the insecure to 'agree' with you, lest they be 'revealed' as a stupid ignoramus.
I sorta agree. Clearly means it is clear, but I dont see it, explain please.. english use utter rubbish but i think i speak non rubbish certainly not utter..... I sorta agree... Show facts and logic, dont try to spin and riducule as first step...

While I will give him some credit for having a Captain Benjamin Sisko figure on his desk. I'll fully admit my own bias here, but my general assumption is that its Captain Sisko because he is Black and not because this individual likes the character or even Deep Space Nine. I would also presume most of the best stories told in Deep Space Nine are far beyond the ability of this individual to comprehend. All that to say, they lose all credibility by having that rainbow United Federation of Planets flag. How dare they presume that alien species conform to the same gender ideology as the radical leftist human of 21st Century Earth!
... In a book Vulcan had a motto of IDIC, infinite diversity in infinite combinations, , , , they meant of thoughts, , , i though it was alien idea but theyre aliens.... This was pre diversity age ..
Not exactly on topic of your comment....but I'm so glad that, to my knowledge, the activists and shills have not tried to expropriate Sisko. He was such an interesting, dynamic, conflicted, and complex character (not to mention portrayed so brilliantly by Brooks). I shudder at the thought of activists tokenizing him and reducing Sisko to nothing more than "the *black* Captain."
.. All respect to Sisko. But imagine if Brooks played this black man as he likely would be after 200 years of equality. He'd be as anal and rule following as the Irish Americans became, after they took over policing a lot of cities in 1960s. The Irish flipped from being party and abusive maniacs with a skill at poetry, to anal clockwatchers dominated by scolding Catholic priests (my grandparents generation, behaving in cities and towns to not seem worse than the protestant majority).... Culture changes, Sisko may not even sound black after 200 years of blacks being part of majority - no Italian or Irish accent remains in America. OBrien does not sound Irish. .. ... To go further, I wonder if gay men after 200 years of no one caring a bit what they do in bed, would even stand out, or theyd be as butch as rest..... I wonder if nobles in Europe use to stand out by their demeanor and accent, but they melded into boring majority once no one cared about their specialness... Most AsianAmericans and Latin Americans have no accent, can't tell from their voice or tone their skin color, so probably yes Black Americans also would be blended into bland average ..... Sisko would just no be so black, at all, that would have been crazy to see acted, the whitest sounding Sisko --- almost sounding like twin of Riker and having less swagger and more carefulness..... The Germans they say also flipped from being scum of Europe in 1600, to facing rough history or war and invasion, and deciding as group to smarten up, a German in 1910 was near opposite as in 1610...... Or I could be wrong...

The only people abusing the copyright system are the corporations/platforms. There's nothing in the US fair use exception that specifies 8 seconds (or any number), it's just how a bunch of corpo suits interpreted the law in the way most favorable to them.
To be fair, before I can make a fully informed assessment of this movie, I need to read a review of it written through the lens of a "partial gelding."
An 8-second limit on clips used in film reviews seems unreasonably short. When films are reviewed by critics on TV, they will usually show part of a scene of perhaps 30-45 seconds.

The south slowly but surely started to change and now the little town I live in is about 70% black. I'm one of the only white guys on my street.
Guess what? We all get along just fine. We're neighbors. Nobody is attacking each other or disturbing anyone, I help my neighbors and they help me. In other words, it's just like it should be.
I can tell you something else, my black neighbors are very CONSERVATIVE. They are more conservative than I am. Yeah, and I can tell you another thing. They love DONALD TRUMP. Ha ha! Yes! It's true. They love him. Go try to figure that out.

@@Mereologist if I might ask, what is a “Mereologist”?
TBH I would much rather be addressed cheerfully as 'denizen' than blandly referred to as 'Citizen.'
Perfectly dismantled……..bravo good sir 👏👏
The movie is not about racism, it's about the racism industry

If you’re not all in you’re all out.
@CallMeChato quick one..... more TV Mag reviews please... if you have any... I love em
From a few things Jesse mentioned in this cover, it appears Jesse didn’t watch the movie at all!
I like her content (but agree with it all)
The whole thing is a sickening grift.
The point of calling it as a parody is trying to belittle the documentary itself. Because it seems Jesse did not like what the film revealed.
It's the intended consequence of the left's strategy of branding everything they disagree with "extremist."

Having known these people, it's impossible to have an actual conversation with them. They want to lecture and everything ties back into their ideological hobby-horses. It's like a cardboard cutout with a slogan came to life. Just stay away from them-- they're incredibly toxic.
There's a certain kind of person who can't grasp that "I think" and "everybody else thinks" may be different, and valid.
It's because they are incapable of empathy, and I suspect the reason so many such people have unusual lifestyles is because they lack the ability to self-normalize by comparison - an ability all social creatures require if they are to function well among their peers.
