    I would like to know JD's whole history, how he learned to play, who from, etc! Hope someone could write a book on him.

      Marty Godbey's 'Crowe on the Banjo' is that book.

      He learned to play by watching and listening to Earl Scruggs and several country guitarist and steel players. But he had just ONE banjo hero. Earl Scruggs

    Millions of banjos have been sold over the years as a result of people hearing Earl play. Unfortunately many of those banjos ended up in a closet or a thrift store after after we realized we’ll never make it sound quite as good or look as easy as he made it look.

      Some of it too is the people that played that music are starting to pass away & a lot of those instruments end up in said closets or stores.

    I thought this was Scott Wilson for a minute. They look pretty similar.
