Hello Shane, your best bet would be the Garthdee area. It's closer to the University and there are lots of accommodations in that area for students. Other great areas would be Ruthrieston and Mannofield. But Nonetheless, any area in the city centre would also be ideal as there's a bus that runs from the city centre to RGU frequently. That would be a personal choice. I lived in Garthdee during the whole period of my studies. It was quiet and laid back, but the downside is that I always had to buy a bus ticket to get to the city centre. The city centre is lively and closer to a lot of entertainment. All boils down to your preferences.

Eg, how council tax exemption applies to us, possible issues with landlords or getting an apartment because we are a couple, and anything else that may be important, from your experience.

If you have a dependent, you will not be totally exempt, you will be eligible for a discount.
