@@AllowNext It was a long time since a cgi effect had me impressed. But the breath attacks in minus one had my full attention. Visual and sound design was amazing. And that silence before the shock wave comes back really works.

I'm gonna be real, Minus One had the best atomic breath to be honest. No nostalgic bias. A lot of the movie's plot centers around his atomic breath, so whenever he uses it it's like a whole event in and of itself, not just a part in a lifeless scene. And I like that it's more of a railgun than like the puny feeling beams in the monsterverse.

It's the best looking and it's also ties back into the metaphors of the og movie because the spikes on his back moving up and down are reminiscent of the mechanism from a nuclear reactor.

Shin Godzilla's breath is just so much more terrifying
Not just because of its power, but how it's able to attack high-altitude stealth bombers with deadly accuracy, as well as the sheer amount of material it can pierce through

That was the big surprise from 2023, especially with the "low" budget production
It’s interesting how it began as a true “breath” - it looked more like a mist that caused whatever it touched to either melt or burst into flames. It evolved into an actual radioactive blast of fire or a beam. I know obviously in the OG in ‘54 the budget was much smaller and the effects almost all but practical, but I wonder if they would have made it more similar to modern versions if they could.

Shame on you for only using the 1984 version to represent the Heisei Era Atomic Breath. If you only planned on using one Heisei Era Atomic Breath from the get-go, you would have been much better off using the 1989 version or the 1991 version.
