Wow, what a day! Clear water, crayfish, portholes, congers everywhere, the BUILDER'S PLATE, dolphins, (and your scooter did not flood). This will be hard to beat! Thanks so much for bringing us along.
That scooter clip is a single point of failure. Needs a safety to ensure it can't be tripped by accident again. Maybe something as simple as zip tie around the clip would do it. Great video. Nice to positively id the wreck and a lovely find.
Hello Deep Wreck Diver wow I did'nt think the English channel would be so clear you guys have a great line of work thanks for taking me with you what a adventure. From Jeff Swick St.Williams Ontario Canada
@@D33pUK Thanks for getting back to me it shows you care and take the time to answer people. WOW what a great hobby! mine is trying to restore old cars. For the last little wile all I can afford to restore are old Tonka trucks! HA HA!
Most Exellent Sir. So interesting to see everything in such clear viz. Hardly any nets tangled up, or fishing line. Are you able to photo/video any of the sonar/fishfinder/echosounder pictures that the skipper sees as he is locating the wreck. Just for a comparison of when your actually down there on to of the wreckage ? Great video, keep them coming. Thankyou.👌👌🤿🤿
It would be super interesting if you could post a more tech episode at some point to explain step by step your plan for a dive, the gas you take, bailout planning etc.
Nice one. I remember getting intact beer bottles off of some unidentified (but likely 18c due to some military cap badges or buckles) deep wreck 50 miles or so out in the Channel. Fizzed and smelt of beer. Alas split in the cold when I left them outside. Wasn't tempted to drink them though! Wonder if that has been ID'd in the 30 or so intervening years?
Awesome dive and find! Congrats! Was hoping you'd find the bell. Is your light/torch on your hand LED or HID? How many watts or lumens? Oh, and what's the temperament of a conger eel? They up for a scratch under the chin?
We reckon the bell was removed by the boarding party from the sub whilst they were laying explosive charges. Supposedly this happened quite a bit. Torch is an Orca D-630, I've also got two Nitescuba NSV60 video lights on my scooter. I have a strict policy of not messing with Conger Eels!
What a nice dive, and Ben was really on his game. I am curious just how often you guy's go out on these dives and how much each dive costs, if you can share.
I did 56 dives last year and all but 3 were deeper than 60 metres. Cost can vary dramatically, mainly depending on distance to site, but it isn't a cheap hobby!
Amazing what GPS will do, I well remember diving off a trawler out of Weymouth fitted with a big old Decca Navigator set & a chart table with the Decca marked charts - Lancaster Bomber technology from WW2! but worth the annual cost in saved nets! I wonder if this is an iron wreck rather than a steel one? They do say that the survival of the Great Britain is down to the difference in corrosion, the Warrior is also very antique for a metal ship.
@D33pUK 1970s, great big box on the trawlers bridge & there you are 50 miles out in the channel with GPS placing you 'bang on the nail'! Decca & Loran sets shrank in the following years & you no longer needed the specialist charts to interpret the readings.
I've not done it (yet) but know plenty who have. If you want to know more about diving the Britannic then I'd strongly recommend Rick's book - amzn.eu/d/fP0jtAP
I've dived an older Suex and managed to flood it when I exceeded the depth rating! Mine is great but I have moved that clip from being underneath the scooter to on the top where I can see it much more easily
Have ever heard of the named "The Mark " She was lost the same night the Mousehole Lifeboat Solomon Browne was lost in Dec 81 on a callout to the coaster " Union Star " She's a 500ton Coaster that went down with all hands somewhere off Penzance ..in 1981 ... Her final resting place has never been found ... Be fantastic if you managed to find her
Hello wreck divers have you ever found any big brass compasses or anything like that? A friend of mine is a fisherman out Long Point bay Lake Erie and he pulled up big brass compass but never found out what wreck it was from.
I think depth build up helps divers get used to narcosis. This isn't an issue for us due to the rich helium mixtures that we use but a certain amount of depth build up is sensible for other reasons
At 19.36 39.36 upper left - round thing do you know what it is? 21 .24 and 21.44 another round thing with a hole in the middle top middle of image. 21.37 looks like an electric motor. 26.13 rolled up rope? 29.58 looks like the binical you handled. 30.24 mid to rhs looks like another binical or is it the round thing at 19.36? 31. 26 upper rhs round with hole on a plate? 32.38 another round disc like object upper lhs? 32.58 valve wheel mid rhs. 32.59 mid looks like a fly wheel or hand turn wheel. Thank you for making and having the video available.

I've modified it since the incident so that won't happen again!

Amazing video. That was an 'aw bugger' moment with the scooter.
Definitely, although nowhere near as bad as it could have been!

Me too!
I've always been fascinated with underwater wrecks and your videos take me along with you. Much appreciated.
My pleasure. I know not everyone is as fortunate as me and and to do this
This is a dream find! Congratulations on your find! Glad you brought home a souvenir.
More than just a souvenir. Key thing for me is that it identified the wreck and the information has been logged on wrecksite so won't be lost
Wow that plate was a great find and the viz again is so clear for the channel, a great dive thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Oh I loved this one! Great vis, congers galore. Fascinating footage & no nets!! Thank you for showing us whats down there! (I used to fish them!)

Lovely,, next could you try and find the S.S. ARCTIC, the wreck has never been dived on and she is also a Collins liner that would be interesting!!!!

Very cool
I assume that was the steam whistle on the mast?
I don't think so, more likely some sort of light fixing
The image of the Hans Jensen 0.30 looks much like the wreck at Kubu Bali now called the Liberty Wreck.
It's a pretty standard design for an early/mid 20th century triple castle, four hold steamer so there were lots (and lots) of similar ones built.
Great video! Would a Suex scooter be a good choice? The closing clamps on yours look a bit dodgy and easy to unlatch inadvertently

The dive that dreams are made of - a makers plate within a few minutes and dolphins on deco !
Fantastic content. Have you ever had the chance to dive the Sub lost in the 50s (decade?). Or has the MOD kept the location secret.

Question :- wrecks appear to attract fish ? So why don’t we sink more ships to increase the fish population ?
It's a good idea but I think the cost of cleaning ships before they get sink is prohibitive
