Oh my goodness! How could anyone ever even think about hitting a precious bird?! I could never 😭 I'm so happy you do these videos, they are so so helpful! I hope that sweet baby is doing great and of course you too! You know what I stress about is Rukus getting his 1st blood feather & me panicking, crying and worry I won't get it in time 😳 I am such a worry wart but I know when it happens, God will help me through!! Kisses to our lil presh Ricco!!
Unfortunately it does happen, it’s really sad. I’ve never had a blood feather with any of my birds and hopefully it will never happen. Rukus should be fine, it’s not something that happens often. To be prepared if it does happen just have the tools you will need in advance like corn starch and tweezers if you need to pull it out, especially if it doesn’t stop bleeding and you can’t make it to a vet if it happens. As difficult as it is try not to over worry, but it’s good to be prepared for things should they happen like a emergency kit and what to do. 😊❤️
Beautiful Topic Once again! It’s so nice you’re spreading awareness through such Topics! I will definitely have this on the back of my mind…kind of reminder…so that I can take better care of my Rescued Parrots 🦜 and treat them with love and respect 🦜🥰❤️ 🤗😍 Thanks to you Ricco Mom for this beautiful Video!!!!!! 🦜🥰😍😇❤️❤️❤️🦜👍🏼

Awesome video! Thankyou so much for all the information. Honestly your videos are helping me so much with Kiwi! He has some bad habits from his last home but thanks to you and Ricco we are slowly wittling them away. He even let me pet him today! He started closing his eyes and doing these little chirp sounds. Made me so happy i had to bite my tongue so i didnt make any dumb noises hahah
Aww that’s so amazing, I’m so happy for the both of you. They are really good at reading someone so I’m sure Kiwi is sensing you mean no harm. I went through the same thing with my female rescue and she turned out to be the sweetest cuddle bug around. Kiwi is so lucky to have you. Thank you for the positive feedback.

Thanks for this wonderful and informative video. I have an Indian Ringneck parrot called Poochie which means Cute Little One in our Bengali Language, and I can totally relate to your information. Thanks once again.
When my two parrots do something bad Like Eat something they can’t Like eating fake Grass on a decor i get them on a stick and put them on theire cage then remove the object and let them back on that place
To anyone wanting to have a parrot as a pet: it is very difficult to handle a bird but also equally rewarding. If you are not ready to handle a parrot, go get yourself a cat or something. I am learning the hard way.
Thank you for your honesty, I always feel as though people never believe me on how difficult it can be to own a parrot. They are definitely not for everyone and is one of the main reasons I did a video all about the reality of owning a parrot.
I am the new owner of two blue IRN male and female, they're about 2 years old. It's only been a month since getting them. I don't have any details of there previous living conditions but I find them very anxious and nervous when standing at the cage or putting my hand inside to clean the cage or feed them, more so the male than the female. They get along great from the looks of it even though they came from separate homes. I know I have to be patient with them to get use to they're new environment but any advice that you can share would be a great help, thanks.
I didn't know that tricking them was a cause of losing their trust as well. I often have to trick Eos into the cage and he keeps me on my toes with it, but he's usually an obedient boy as well, so I don't have to all that often. 😅
Haha we’ve all done it lol. I would half to chase Ricco around as well to the point of him wearing me out 😂. It’s not to the extent of them losing trust if we were to physically abuse them but more so they won’t believe us the next time around lol.
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn Oh, I've been there! 😂😂 However, they need to also understand that we would do the same to our own children when they aren't cooperating--and parrots know when they're giving a bit too much trouble for their own good! 🤭
Guilty of tricking my bird and punishing by putting it in the cage :( Problem is she has these hyper moments where she flies into stuff like curtains and walls and for her own safety i need to get her back in the cage to calm down. The punishment is for when she bites anyone too hard. Biting is okay as long as it doesn't cause pain and she knows how hard she bites. Deliberately bites hard. I'm trying to understand why but i can't get to the bottom of this
I’ve been guilty as well of tricking Ricco, but I had to work with him to find a way of getting him back in the cage without having to trick him or chase him around lol. I finally got it under control with his favourite treats Pine nuts. Has she always been like this or is it just recently? They do go through what’s called the bluffing stage’s, I compare it to the terrible two’s in children lol. Not every way will work for all birds and if it’s for her safety I totally understand. Hopefully you can find a way that will work for the both of you.
When a bird bites it’s for a couple reasons, so it’s important to pay attention to their body language on what is causing them to bite like forcing them to do something they dislike. If a bird is constantly biting it could be from fear so you need to work with your bird to gain their trust without being forceful, it takes time and patience. Use treats and foods as rewards when trying to gain a birds trust and keep sessions short.
I’ve done a video on how to crest a bond with your bird. It’s in my playlist under educational videos for birds or educational videos for indian ringneck parrots.
