Yes I'm also a very very big fan of IU but Taeyeon's voice is how do i say this, Bigger, larger and powerful, which is a very very good thing plus she has great control over her voice and excellent techniques. However i would not say she is unbeatable because there is Sunmi, Sohyang and of course AILEE!!! But i do still prefer IU's voice and her songs even if she has the weakest or average technique among all as everyone says. Edit: I forgot there is also a queen called Chung ha.

For me the voice that can make people sleep peacefully is like Jackie Evancho's voice. I cant think of another example now

She can sound really crazy , strong and powerful doing belts but can also sound so sad to make you feel sad and feel her delicate emotions. She never fails to convey the right emotions in her music and sound. She is also able to try out many different genres. Rock , pop , EDM , ballad , R&B , Jazz , a bit of a sultry sexy style , Japenese OST , whatever and she fits it so well. She's also pretty unbeatable in the range up to D5. @IDGAF HOE IU is not below average, she is just fine, especially for the music she does it fits very well. Yes, Taeyeon is better technically, but that is because her music is very challenging vocal wise as well - IU's music isn't. They're both great musicians.

iu has a slightly higher and more respectable account for musicianship but vocal ability? taeyeon definitely. iu isn' really a strong vocalist unlike taeyeon. also just want to say that highnotes does not mean you're a good singer!! a comment misconception is the higher and longer your note, the better. it could be the total opposite. even though taeyeon's highnotes are kinda.. eh it's way way better than IU's especially in her "good day" it was soooo strained. of course I believe more people will pick IU due to her more soft timbre and that's completely fine.
but since the video is vocal ability then definitely Taeyeon. she has way much better technique. IU is a weak vocalist and that's worrying because if she keeps using the same technique she'll end up like Hyolyn and regress and damage her voice.

Not to mention that she didn't give up in her dream to be a singer despite everything. Her parents went bankrupt so she and her brother had to live with her Grandmother. Then all three had to move to her Oncle. She got rejected by 20 agencies. She even got scammed by a false agency and lost Grandmother's last money. She had to pretend to be sleeping every time her uncle came from work because he was keeping saying that she had to give up and focus on entering in university. Finally Loen Entertainment took her and she debuted 8 months after. During her first stage performance in a private cable channel, she got booed by fangirls: "get lost", "you pig" (she was chubby at that time. She probably developed bulimia because of this kind of comments). Overall, her debut was a total failure and she remained unknown for 2 years. Then Good Day came. The song was topping charts for 5 weeks and made IU the biggest female solo singer with 2 daesangs in addition. But 2 first years of failure made IU understand that Good Day was just a stroke of luck and that she may lose popularity in any moment. She was so afraid to not maintain her level that she couldn't sleep well. But one day, she just realised that she simply has to produce her own music. That way, even if her popularity will disappear, her songs will remain with her. That's how she made a transition from a manufactured puppet to a singer-songwriter and music producer.

When IU sings I got sooo much feels I love her soulful delivery. I saw a lot of her performance and what I notice is when she started singing audience went silent no loud screaming, so much taking photos, videos etc. Like a type of performance that will shut your mouth.
