In its place, the general instituted a unitary system of government as a way of discouraging “tribal loyalties and activities which promote tribal consciousness and sectional interests and which must give way to the urgent task of national reconstruction.” The decree suspended aspects of the Nigerian constitution and, with it, the military government arrogated to itself wide discretionary powers. Best NIGERIA president Umir Musa yar-Adua.... And that's a very good prayer by Nnamdi Azikwe, and he was the one who signed for one NIGERIA that's causing problems on Nigerians today... He had the opportunity to sign for separation instead he signed one NIGERIA and the one NIGERIA that Zik signed for, is now hurting NIGERIANS and most especially his own Igbo people today..
