Tunisian here , big fan of nigeria , the team from 93 to 98 was amazing , rashidi yekini , okocha , finidi , oliseh , kanu , amunike , ikpeba , babayaro , garba lawal , taribo west, amokashi , tijani babangida ... for me the best african team ever

Yes. Unfortunately Nigeria then disappeared in the following years and Spain became a SUPERPOWER of football. Story of Europe and Africa and organisation of societies.
Its 2024! I just watched this match highlight and i am super impressed with the quality of football of the Super Eagles team of that period. To have played against Spain and showed no intimidation, going ahead to win the match with impressive play, gives me so much joy. Every player gave their all and were attack-minded, it was just beautiful to watch.
Now in Somalia but at the time I was in Eindhoven, Netherlands, watched live on TV. Really that was a golden generation of Nigerian football National Team,
@@Mr_Muscollo_DalmatianThis team is what we can call golden generation players of Nigerian football. The like of Yekini, Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi, Mutiu Adepoju, Micheal Emenalo, Taribo West, Uche Okechukwu. Celestine Babayaro.
Agba Baller....RIP Rashidi Yekini.....The man who opened our World Cup Scoring.....I cant forget your contributions to the Super Eagles in Maroc 88, Algers 90, Senegal 92 and Tunisa 94 of course USA 94 and France 98.....Thanks Legend......Thank you the whole Super Eagles of that Era.....
I remembered watching this game live in my boarding school. Nigeria was regarded as both an underdog and possible contender because they had just won the football Olympics just two years before. Kanu and Finidi George had just won the champions league with Ajax a few years back and Nigeria had a good showing in USA 1994. Amazing team.
This was Nigeria's Golden Generation from 1994 and 1996 Olympics. It's crazy they didn't make it to World Cup quarters in 1994. Roberto Baggio denied them that opportunity from Oliseh mistake in the dying minutes.
That day Spain was so well beaten by the greatest Nigerian national team. The defeat pains Spain so much that their journalists could not write in their news papers. What a great football ⚽ match it was. What a great win it was for Nigeria.
U can see how guys are very aggressive . They go very tough and hard while marking, and very fast not the present super eagles that keep romancing and caressing the ball, some even afraid to slide to win the ball. The ancient style of play is exactly what Aaron Wan Bissaka does. They need to be playing videos like this for them before every match
You also need to note that strikers have developed over the years in handling d ball that if you try to tackle aggressively, you commit a foul... The game has changed
With this team, there was a sense of confidence you have as a Nigerian even if they scored them, they will come back again. Keep in mind, the last goal Sunday oliseh scored, he did the same thing during the 98 world cup qualifiers when Nigeria played with Kenya. He scored from that set distance and seeing him do it again at the worldcup stage was phenomenon.
The best squard Nigeria has ever produce, my heart is full of joy when ever I watch this squard highlights, how I wish we can turn the hand of time and bring back this squard.
Celestine Babayaro, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babangida, Sunday Oliseh, Daniel Amokachi, Nwankwo Kanu damn this team deserve World Cup title just like Argentina 1998
@@Mr_Muscollo_Dalmatian Lilian Thuram at his prime at that time. Legends, and they will always be. I wish this current uninspiring team of Super Eagles watch this kind of high intensity matches to see where they are coming from.
This Nigerian team is different from the current crop of Nigerian players. These guys were really defending their country whereas the current players are defending their bank accounts and talent
That someone today is Ademola Lookman, he scored twice in AFCON 2024 , as Nigeria earned a place in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over Cameroon.
Eagles were more skillful than Spain. We won them at the midfield and front. We also have a good machinery named Yekini. Yekini entered when we were one goal down. He disturbed the defence. He gave the second goal assist. He was 💯 active throughout the match...and the acrobatic skill...at that age. What a legend !!! What a team!!!

If you were in Africa then, and you never considered this team as the representation of the whole Africa, shame on you. Every African loved this team, it was the African great hope.
Not only did Nigeria advance to knockouts despite good teams in their group, they topped it (a bit lucky to in truth, especially that Spain GK howler, that doesn't happen Nigeria don't even qualify) finishing 1st in the group also meant they got to avoid France in R16....and they still got thrashed by Denmark lol (Denmark scored more vs Nigeria than they'd scored in their entire group stage despite their group having Saudi Arabia & South Africa in) while the only unbeaten team in Nigeria's group who also beat Nigeria (Paraguay) made it to extra-time vs France.
The greatest African representatives of all time. Im Ugandan but loved this team. Taribo West defence, Babangida wing, the ttack of okocha, finidi, and oliseh controlling midfield😢😢😢 Super team

Nigeria won the battle of Midfield against Spain- Garba lawal, Mutiu Adepoju, Sunday Oliseh and Jay Jay Okocha taught Spain a football lesson.

South African but Nigeria always make me proud to be African lv your football n I think you'll be the first to lift the world cup

Moreso, Rufai shouldn't have been our keeper but someone like shoromun or eyeama

My legendary team I supported nigeria when I was 12 years old greetings from Turkey
The golden generation of Nigerian national team, in my opinion the best African team ever, capable to reach WC-final! but didn't happen pityfully.
Didn't make it Because they were rubbed by Italy in a broad daylight
Morocco: hold my beer son! @maguled
Cameroon in 90 could have gotten to the final without Fifa's corruption. Morocco in 2022 as well
Nigeria, what a great moment in our history! When merit was the value.

Footballs gotten very soft over the years.
Very true
Or actually playing them their own videos with these ones side by side.
But bissaka doesn't have the capacity and skills of this players. He is just sliding aimlessly.

I was born exactly ‘98 and I’m watching this match in ‘24 and to say the fact those guys really tried and are more better than the AFCON of nowadays
