Man this is literally my favorite Maya channel, keeping it simple yet insanely useful, specially for my final project in Maya. Please don't stop uploading my friend!
You've got a fan right here,
    Cheers from Colombia.

Honestly id never thought to use extrude with separate faces to create a grate like structure. But it sure simplifies a lot of stuff. I can see a lot of applications for it ;) And i guess to limit the load on your scene you could copy the stairs as instance?

Hey Mike! First of all, this video was very helpful and educational, thanks for posting! I had a bit of a random question. I was wondering if you've ever felt unmotivated to work on Maya and if so, how do you get that motivation back? I'm personally on my third year college in 3d and I was very motivated 2 years ago and learned a lot, would spend at least 5 hours a day working on stuff but eventually we completely stopped doing things in maya and went to sketching and perspective/photography for a few months, and by the time we went back to Maya/substance/unreal I lost a lot of motivation and now I can't seem to get motivated and want to work on models. Have you ever been through something like this and how would you get that passion back? Thank you for everything you do for us

The trick is this... Maya is just a tool like a pencil or paintbrush. I get excited about creating something after seeing a movie, a piece of art etc... The fact that it is done in Maya isn't that important
