- Kim Hunter, founder of The Green Goats shows you farmland "before" and "after" her green goats have been at work! She and ALL ABOUT ANIMALS host Sherry Graditor discuss and watch how her goat herds clear invasive weeds and brush the natural way---- without chemicals and with a low carbon hoofprint. Some of the goats' favorite meals include buckthorn, burdock, curly burdock and even poison ivy.
The Green Goats are located in both Kenosha and Green County Wisconsin and can be rented to clear land in all of southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
For more information on invasive weeds, habitat restoration, goats for sale, goat books, and more, you can reach Kim at www.thegreengoats.com or 262-537-2234 in Kenosha County. In Monroe County, she can be reached at 608-426-2825. - Животные
This was very interesting. Thank you 🌸
Awesome. Cheers from a fellow Wisconsinite.
This goat lady is a fountain of knowledge!
Goats actually prefer weeds, thistle, etc. They’re like natures garbage disposal with the added benefit of aeration with their sharp narrow hooves and the fertilizer that follows. Their saliva has a type of natural herbicide that kills non natural eco friendly weeds. BTW if you’ve never had goat cheese it’s amazing! The worst thing about goats though, they are escape artist, you have to have a good quality fence or they’ll be gone gone gone!
They love their "work".
Here in the UK a friend of mine was rentin out goats for the same thing back in the 1980's, they actually prefer the crap you want to get rid of the most, Bramble, thistles and nettles after that they will have a go at grass ..... BRILLIANT creatures
Yeah prime lucerne is wasted on em. Just give em some branches.
Its a good deal for people with weed problems and land being taken over by thick under brush
Great video. Very informative. My goats arrive next week. I hope they like thistle, nettles and buckthorn!
I have volunteered Ms. Hunter for a month and it has been a great experience!!
You can also use the goats to help clear out the overgrown brush from roadsides and ditches, saving the road crews a lot of money and time when they need to be doing something else
So many happy goats. God bless your good work. 👍
this is marvelous job you are smart and wise thanks for this video
This is a great video, I'm sharing it with my college students to understand biological invasive control
Ive been in goats since I was 9. but been out for 10 plus years, but you give a very good demistration. well done.
Thank you for sharing and for caring for the environment to use animals to "mow" the land. One question I have is … is there a certain breed of goat you use?
We need help with Buckthorn on our place in Windlake. It is the hardest tree to get rid of!
We will be calling.

i like goats farming, it's not require a big area to maintain.
I hope you started yours. I am also about to start mine soon as we are free from Coronavirus threat.
They don't just mow the plants, they also destroy the majority of the seeds.
Goats are browsers, not grazers as the title suggests... Kim eventually set them straight!
How large is this area?

HI, what do you do to help the goats with ticks as prevention>?
You can buy "tick rubs" at farm stores that are basically rolled burlap soaked with natural tick killing chemicals. The goats rub against them and kill the ticks.
Ducks are natural tick controllers. They eat every tick they find.
can u please tell me what kind of goat you had in front of u in the start of the video.
Nubian goat.
They will clear up that place in a month
how about garlic mustard?

Sounded all good till Kim mentioned spraying chemicals all over the place.
yes, agree,, but it wasn't her land and she wasn't doing the spraying herself... but I agree with the original post and your's too
Umm.. Honeysuckle is a vine.
How in the world did our society ever get hooked on BEEF? Goats are the best animals! They are lawnmowers you can milk and eat! Sounds perfect to me!
Cows are lawn mowers that you can milk and eat.
I tried Goat..it's Excellent!! It was farm fresh and free range, grass fed..wouldn't hesitate to eat it over beef anyday!!
Goats will eat brush and shrubs that would kill a cow.
@@Jemalacane0 cows don't eat everything like goat do. They don't care they will try to eat your shoelaces
Dragons can burn invasive plants
Take green off any plant/tree and it will die.
Let’s imagine fantasy meets ecology the big bad wolf redeems himself and eats goats when they get invasive because there are a lot of black berries the dragon burns invasive plants
So invasive plants are bad? So are invasive people that come to colonize your land.
is this a comedy?
