    The possibility of F4 being from the 60’s but getting lost in space somewhere where time doesn’t flow normally when or after fighting whatever their big bad will be in the movie, getting covered up by the government and then returning to Earth in the 2020’s thanks to Reed and his big brain is so simple and can solve almost all the gripes he has with the “from a different universe” concept people came up with. Like, yeah Reed can manage to get them home, but 60+ years have passed due to the time dilation of wherever they were when it just felt like 60 minutes to them

      i could actually see a potentiality where Reed and the FF are forced to trap themselves outside of time and space that also erases all information and knowledge of them to save earth from destruction by Galactus

    • @theanimeaquarium
      @theanimeaquarium 3 месяца назад +2

      This isn’t the issue. Doing this would mean that you would have to change up their comic story and I think that’s what people don’t want. The FF are not vigilante type of heroes with like secret identities, they are actual celebrities. How would you explain how no one in the world happened to know them or remember them?

    • @nevamindthedamagedun

    • @ironshoes1720
      @ironshoes1720 3 месяца назад +4

      But shouldn't they have aged while being trapped in the Negative Zone?
      Even if the did not physically aged, I'm pretty sure spending so much time there would affect their relationships. One thing's for sure, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm would not remain so immature. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ziggy_425
      @ziggy_425 3 месяца назад +7

      @ironshoes1720 mabey time will move differently in the negative zone for the movie. The final end battle of the movie could be like a 30 min or 2 hour fight for them but outside of the negative zone 60 Years would pass, while they remain the same age

      Similar to Xmen: First Class when they had an isolated incident in the Cuban Missile Crisis, and then in the next film, Days Of Future Past, when Trask is having a meeting with Congress explaining how mutants are dangerous, they bring up the what had happened year prior and one says "The incident in Cuba, that was never confirmed, we have real enemies out there", so I think it's pretty easy for the Government to cover stuff up to where any information getting out would be seen as rumors, especially easier back in the 60s

      @@WawaMarvel They could easily pull a Captain America/Carter. More specifically Carter.
      If their story is in the 616 MCU's 60s just have them slip through some kind of time portal. Or even more specifically, they could get stuck in the Quantum Realm like Scott.
      There's also the more far out, but still viable options like Watcher, TVA, or Nexus level beings, interference.

  • @quietdemon8138
    @quietdemon8138 3 месяца назад +129

    My guess is that how they go from the early 60s to the mid 2020s is similar to Captain America The First Avenger the main change being that for example say they go to a specific part of the Quantum Realm for 60 minutes (from their perspective) but for the world it’s been 60 years that would easily solve how their first movie takes place in the past and how they get to the present by the end of it

    I think they would get caught up in the issues of the day, the multiverse incursions and such. But by the time that they think they might be able to go back to their timeline, battle world and secret wars would happen and inevitably cause the universe to "restart". This would then cut off their ability to go back to their original timeline.

    Absolutely love this discussion and the back and forth of you two, fantastic work. I like how you both have your own perspective and opinions on how the team should work. Your banter was great to watch.
    For me personally, I’d say start them off in the 60s, bring the forward some point (even at the end of the movie) to present day to interact with everyone. That’s the only way it makes sense (in my mind). Yo say that they were always in present day and just nobody ever mentioned them makes absolutely no sense.
    Setting the movie in the 60s is the best way to keep the continuity correct and I’m on board with the direction they are going.

    They weren’t mentioned much because there was no reason to mention a random team that popped up in the 60s. In the mcu there are probably random heroes and teams that pop up and fade away all the time. The thing that will make them different is that they’ll be the ones who comeback to our timeline. Also it doesn’t have to be time travel it can be that they went into a wormhole and time moves differently and when they get out of the wormhole they haven’t aged and they don’t have to go back they can just live out of their lives in the modern day

It appears as though they are on the same reality as we have been everything appears the same. we spend the whole movie with the fantastic four they get their powers have the whole origin story we find out that Galactus is on the way and they are trying to prevent him destroying the Earth unfortunately they are not able to and the Earth is destroyed but before the Earth is destroyed they find a way to leave their reality and we find out that that's when they end up in Earth 616

    I don't think they should bring the FF forward to present until near the end. Set most of it the 60s, have the FF members deeply involved with NASA til they get their powers, become celebrities, and then the climax threat brings them to our present. How people of the 60s view the FF after that event is with reverence, but the tragedy of it results in them not being discussed in pop culture. Everyone moved on because it was too sad to think about. Maybe the public isn't even aware of the threat or disaster that was averted by the FF, and their "destruction" is viewed as meaningless. They stay in the present because they are needed now, and to go back would threaten far greater consequences. Also, VVD is here in the present, and Reed doesn't know when he arrived or what VVD's impact has been.

    I'm right there with Hector in that if the Four are from the 60s and through the events of the movie something happens that causes them to end up in the modern-day MCU, I don't think there is any obstacle that prevents them from returning to the 60s, Reed is one of the smartest beings in the universe, he'd figure out a way for the four of them to return to the 60s.
    However, that being said, I think them NOT returning to the 60s will be of their own account, their own decision. There will be a reason why they choose to stay in the present-day 2020s, and I don't think we'll know that reason until we see the full context of the movie. But it'll be a reason that is thematically and emotionally resonant to the characters and the plot of the movie that makes sense for them to stay in today....

    • @Red-Wolf-Ben

      Yeah! I feel like a portion of the movie is going to have Reed working on his time machine or whatever, while other stuff is happening that he's oblivious to, that Sue, Johnny, and Ben are getting involved with... and eventually, Reed says, "Good news, everyone! It's done! We can go back to our own time as soon as you're all ready!" But then, everyone else objects...

    I thought they were from another universe and it was similar to ours while also in the 1960s. Galactus would appear there with a female Silver Surfer and eventually eat the Earth, and that's when they get saved by being brought to the MCU/616/199999 universe. their story could then involve Galactus showing up for this Earth. The F4 would then have a better idea of how to handle the situation better and defeat him (and his 'different' herald).

    In the comics, The Fantastic Four didn't have fame when they started out, they grew famous over time.

    Going from "our" 1960's and trapped in time (or the Quantum Realm) could potentially be just as interesting as them being refugees from a universe that has been destroyed in an incursion. Honestly, which approach they use will be determined by what the updated plotline and villain of upcoming Avengers and Secret Wars movies. Either one could also draw the attention of the TVA, so the FF will be the glue holding current and future projects together (as it should be). ☮❤🎶

    Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne operated as superheroes during the 80s. On their final mission together, they saved millions of lives from an ICBM, and yet Ant-Man's existence was a myth until decades afterwards. Fantastic Four could be a similar case

    First of all, the Fantastic four should be a episodic series, not movies. They need the time to develop not only the family dynamic but provide the background for their main villains which are complex and worthy of detailing.
    Second, I think they should start with the origin in the 60's and maybe do the first season spending it in the 60's. Then they should go on a space travel or dimension travel such as into the Negative Zone, and because of time dilation or differing time because of this return in 2025. This would allow them to be anachronistic, and old fashion, and need to learn to live on Earth as it is now. Reed might have to have a bunch of legal battles to regain his pattens, which had been used to develop the internet, cell phones, even much of Stark's Ironman tech.
    They would appear in the movies but their main story would be told in the series.

    We can have BOTH. The first movie is the 60’s intro which leads into them getting “erased” or “forgotten” or “trimmed” after a catastrophe creates a branched timeline. The Second movie is how they get BACK.

    With respect to the F4 coming from the past to the present, Hector couldn't understand why they wouldn't just go back to their own time as soon as they could. However, time travel has been explained in the MCU to only go one way. If you go to the future, you travel along the same time line and don't change anything but if you go back anything you did would change the present, which can't happen, therefore, you create a branch timeline. If F4 came to the present from the past and tried to go back again they would just go to a branch and would be wiped from the main timeline. Staying in the present would be the only option.

    • @hectorminator
      @hectorminator 3 месяца назад

      That’s not true. If the Avengers traveled into the past and created branches during the Time Heist, how did they return to the Sacred Timeline they left from?
      If you could only travel into the future along the branch they were in, then they would never be able to return to the universe where Thanos snapped half of all life.
      Which means the Avengers had a way to track the coordinates of that original universe. Which also means they’d have a way to do the reverse, and revisit the specific branches they took Stones from, which is exactly what Steve Rogers did.
      So yes. If the FF came to the present, when they returned to their original time in the sixties, it would also mean they were going back to make their own branch. (Unless the whole story WAS in the sixties of the Sacred Timeline, including their return). Either way. They could return.

  • @middleagedcouchpotato677

    I agree with the point that Reed would do whatever he could to take them home. This is the hugest plot hole. Even if they felt there was a reason to stay, that would eventually pass and then what? You’d constantly have to have reasons for them to stay because if there’s no reason to stay, Reed is going to take them back. Full stop. Not only is he smart enough to accomplish this, but it’s exactly what he’d do. His character would solve the problem. It’s what he does.
    So yah… not a fan. I don’t understand why marvel would set this in the 60’s. It’s just an odd choice. Like why? I can’t think of a positive but I can think of a billion negatives.

Use them as the group that bought the Stark tower or I mean Avengers tower and then they were leaving for a mission then boom the blip happens? Then when they comeback from the blip they are starting their “space mission” and get their powers from that then that way they are on our timeline and now we don’t have the back story or where the hell where they when Thanos and everything happened before now?

    My personal hope for the explanation is that the MCU intoduces more 60s - 90s in spotlight appearances. These heroes could allow for the MCU to expand further and gives them a valid excuse for a relatively unknown FF. Alternatively they may not last long in the 60s. I could see marvel making the movie take place over the span of a few weeks or a month after the group gets their powers, and this would let the Fantastic Four gain some local fame without generating the necessary buzz to become a household name.
