Wow, great work!
Great question my friend.
This interview was like the film in a way, great but short. 💙

Shitty fucking audio quality I had to quit listening to this
"Mr. Washington" "Mr. Nolan" It's refreshing to see a polite and professional interviewer asking good questions with substance

Yeah, polite is good but you have to be careful not to kiss ass like a fan boy (I thought that kinda happend here and there) and he could have gone way way deeper with the questions. It was still pretty surface level curiosity . Mr Nolan can handle difficult questions, really.
Yes I love how respectful you are. So grateful to see this and great questions. I wish you had more time with them❤
yes! because I like to hear talented and skilled artists open up and talk about their process! it's so interesting!
True, this guy was a class act.
I've watched a lot of Nolan interviews and I've never heard these questions asked before. I wish you had more time with him! 10/10.
Thank you for saying that! And I do too, but I’m still so grateful for the time I got!
I was thinking the exact same thing. Loved the questions you asked. I wish you get a chance to do a 2 hour long interview with Nolan.
Agreed!
Agreed, this was a fantastic interview. It definitely needed to be longer, I’m sure he had many more amazing questions brewing. Great work!

Love Nolan's first answer, regarding ambiguity and knowing his own story even if he doesn't spoon feed it to an audience. That's the way ambiguity ought to be. The admission of many directors who don't know what their film is actually saying, and there are definitely exceptions, can appear so empty and fleeting. Artists need a point of view, whether or not they let the consumer in on the specifics of what that might entail.
I think this is why I'm always skeptical of those who hold ambiguity up as some sort of golden, enhancing feature that all films/stories need to possess. I think ambiguity works best when it feels very organic and natural to the story (e.g., the ending of 'City Lights', or John Carpenter's 'The Thing', to name a few), rather than out of some smug, 'hey, look at me!', reactionary sense on the storyteller's part to be different/unique or not follow 'tradition', especially at the expense of things previously established with regards to story, characters, world building, etc. At that point, you risk breaking the audience's immersion in your story.
Well said brother

And the “that’s a good/great question” roll continues Jake is the best
If someone were to make a supercut of all of those, I have a feeling it would definitely be feature length

Jake: that’s a great question!
Jake's the best. He's a fanboy but keeps it professional. Asks creative & interesting questions we wanna hear answers to. Is complimentary but never a sycophant. Shows genuine admiration & respect. Most likeable interviewer out there.
Respect for ur attitude and ur questions and saying Mr ... etc , really really my respect 4 u
I loved the first question & the rest was good too.
I can finally die in peace. Those questions were amazing, and they solved a chunk of my thoughts and anxiety about Christopher Nolan. Thank you!
Happy to help ;) I hope you’ll subscribe!
@@JakesTakesTV of course, I did.
Nolan and Tarrantino are heavyweights even though they are young in "directing years". These two have revolutionized directing imo. Villeneuve is another one. Of course I appreciate wisdom-eyed old timers like Stone, Scorcese, and Spielberg.
Who is stone?
navin sabban Oliver Stone
Insert in this list Paul Thomas Anderson too and Gore Verbinsky
Tommy Wiseau

*Jake asks a question*
Any actor/director: "That's a good question"
So great to see an interview where the questions are not "How was it to work with X actor" or something very cheesy, that gets asked thousands of other times. Good job.

Great interview Jake as usual!!
I also wished you had more time ✌🏼
Well constructed questions and for once asking forward thinking questions which proper film fans would ask and expect to be put out there.... think Nolan was taken aback with this😉 well done!!!

Best interviewer in the business 🙌🏻 keep up the great work bro
Jake I never miss your interview , you are so well thought out and have such amazing questions . I enjoy these questions they help me in my day to day to put in more with the people I interact with so that there is a lasting impression on them as well .thank you so much . Been a fan for ages . 😁😁😁
This was such a great interview!!!! Wow sooo good man. Wish you had more time. I have seen other people from big companies etc asking such a stupid questions. You absolutely killed it.
Saw the movie last night; half the dialogues were soooo soft spoken I couldn’t understand and wished I had subtitles. I had been excited to watch it but was sad I didn’t fully understand everything :( it kept flipping between action and emotion. It was still worth watching and the protagonist was excellent. I want to see him in more movies.
Oh my gosh me 2.
I just watched it and felt like I need to watch it again. Its one of those movies you need to watch twice.
Your right though. Could hardly hear some convos but koz im a big az Nolan fan, I loved it regardless.
Will try and understand it lol
I was just thinking about it and was going to watch all the interviews and this came out ❤️😍👌
could clearly see your passion and a lot of thought has been put through in the process! this is how great interviews should be like!! you really get me more excited than i am already just watching this interview :D keep it up! and love love love nolan, he's such a smart yet humble guy. i hope we can see more fantastic movies from him in the future
So nice to see an interviewer respecting the brilliance of the guest. Also hats off to you for respecting our time and making your questions thorough well thought out and timely.
Jake always ask the deepest and most intriguing questions, that's why I like his interviews so much.
Excellent interviewer. Insightful questions, concise comments, lets the guests speak, charismatic, respectful and professional. 10/10
Really liked the questions you asked. And I am glad for the answer he gave. Nolan is one of the very few big directors who can challenge the audience the way he does. He is unique and therefore one of my most favourite directors.
One of the best interview's, especially from this movie promotional phase period, never seen a person so passionate and a fan boy asking the questions. Effing 'A' job. Wish you had more time.
Really great interview 👍
Best answer I’ve ever heard. For a “mainstream” director it’s perfect. All discussions after in the cinema, worth it.

In Tenet, Sator quotes the final lines of The Hollow Men by T.S Eliot, "This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper".
Upon returning home after watching the film, I took out a copy of Eliot's selected works to reread the aforementioned and upon reading several other of Eliot's poems noticed several other thematic, or at least symbolic references to his works in the movie.
from 'Marina'
"What is this face, less clear and clearer
The pulse in the arm, less strong and stronger -
Given or lent? More distant than stars and nearer than the eye.
...
This form, this face, this life
Living to live in a world of time beyond me; let me
Resign my life for this life, my speech for that unspoken,
The awakened, lips parted, the hope, the new ships."
There are others to be found aplenty, both here and there, and I would recommend that you, dear reader, find and read them, aloud, for yourself but, if you'll permit me, perhaps the most prescient example...
from CHORUSES FROM 'THE ROCK'
(VII 18-20)
"Then came, at a predetermined moment, a moment in time and of time,
A moment not out of time, but in time, in what we call history: transacting, bisecting the world of time, a moment in time but not like a moment of time,
A moment in time but time was made through that moment: for without the meaning there is no time, and that moment of time gave the meaning."

Great interview questions Jake, i don't comment on videos but had to take the time for this. (Y)
You’re the first interviewer that actually asked great questions!
It was a great interview with fresh questions! Also, I appreciate the interviewer's clear pronunciation. Some interviewers just mumble in interviews, which makes so hard for us to understand what they are saying at all.
Wonderful questions. Right off the bat the first question was one I have wondered about. It alone was worth the subscribe smash.
Great questions, especially the first one about ambiguity!
Great interview and very good questions!
Man what a great interview, the questions were on point. Earned a sub from me.
these questions were great, well done
Good job on the questions man!!
Great questions lead to great answers. Just shows the class of his directing style and process.
What a Great Interview!
Loved this interview. We need more time!😆
For that first question alone mister you won a subscriber! That’s something I’ve always wanted to ask Nolan!
Man these questions were legit. A true Nolan fan there 👍
I don’t comment on videos but these questions were amazing! Nolan was impressed as well.
Nolan is always a great interviewee, but this functions so well due to your questions and mentality as an interviewer. Really great job thinking things out beforehand
I’ve been thinking about how to approach this review on Tenet without giving the impression of bashing the movie or hating on it. Cause I did like this movie but I certainly have a lot to say. Let’s start with this, I was like everyone else with Tenet. I was super excited, who wouldn’t be! Christopher Nolan directing, big budget summer blockbuster, with a complex plot, awesome trailer and a great cast! I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time and as soon as I found a showtime for my city I decided I had to go. So I saw Tenet and I have to say, this is a Christopher Nolan movie. It has his style of direction all over it. The complex and dense plot, big action spectacles and a long runtime. Will people like it, most likely unfortunate for me not so much. What really bothered me about this movie was the plot and how Nolan told this story. It didn’t feel cohesive or even understandable really but rather very confusing, rushed and the outcome of it all made me question what was the purpose of all that just happened. But a lot of this movie felt like it was trying to be an extravaganza of action scenes, set pieces and dazzling spectacles. Luckily It does accomplish that though, a lot of the times. The action is really well done and does a lot of the spectacles. I just wish that the movie presented a more compelling story, because it felt as though it was kinda trying too. The story, plotting and even sometimes the screenplay felt so jumbled throughout the entire runtime. It tries to be so intellectual and complex but at the end it didn’t succeed at it. Overall Tenet wasn’t as great as I hoped for but, big and sometimes fun action scenes, good acting, sound design, and the look of the movie are all positives for Tenet. I did have some fun with Tenet but wish it was more straightforward with its story and think most people will enjoy it.
I read a lot of these reviews, so I was afraid when watching the movie. I think there’s no disagreement that this is his most complex movie. But, I actually loved it. The plot is probably ahead of its time. When people start analyzing this movie, they’re going to be mind blown. Nolan planted so many things. It’s one of those movies you have to watch many times to fully grasp.
@@14CJProductions I see what you did there.
I love this interview
Really awesome questions, those are the reasons I‘m subscribed.
These questions were great.
Wow, great questions !! thank you
I wish Nolan creates many movies which would make us wonder every time we see.
Amazing and unique questions...dude...I love this interview...all the rest of the Interviewers are asking just the same questions again and again..
I was going to compliment how great and thoughtful your questions were, but then again...everyone said it already: So, ditto!!! 👏👏👏👏
I'm a huge fan of time-travel stories, especially the ones involving time paradox concepts. One that come to mind is a smart time-travel novella I've read around March titled Project Dechentreiter (2015) by Elder Prince. I couldn't understand the story from one-time reading, my mind was in torment even though there were so many clues and puzzle pieces hidden in plain sight. Everything made so much sense after a second read (luckily the story only counts 80 pages), and what a fantastic e-book that I highly recommend. There was also a movie called Time Lapse (2014), that one included brilliant ideas but wasn't executed with elegance, but is a good watch anyway.
I can't wait for Christopher Nolan's next movie!
This movie was awesome.... just got out of the showing incredible and refreshing to see a good film these days
I just noticed Nolan is wearing a blue shirt and Washington is wearing a red shirt. And they’re sitting on opposite sides of the frame.
INNNNTERESTINNNGGGG
Man that first question was excellent!
Amazing questions 👌🏽

The film was amazing. I need to see it again, though. :)
First time I've seen your videos, great work, very interesting questions. Subbed to you.
Thank you so much!
Love the question about whether or not he knows all the answers!
Every 20 or 25 years a movie come out that changes the way humans think...the Last one was Matrix....thx Mr. NOLAN.
Hope u see this.
Nice intro Jake!👍
my right ear enjoyed this
Interesting interview, especially the question about the ambiguity of the script
You can see that Nolan learned the lesson from Venice FF
The way Washington looks at Nolan while Nolan's speaking!
Just John sitting the whole interview with his hand folded like TeneT
And Chriscasually asking himself if he's doing that on purpose 3:57
JDW is on a great path. He was really good in the movie and I hope to see him in more stuff.
You deserve more time with him in comparison to the useless god awful interviews that exist out there. Really good interviewing can't wait to see more from you.
Damnnn good questions
Love David washington!!
I love John. He has a cheeky face like any second he's going to crack a joke.
It’s John David 😒 his mom will beat your ass for not getting it right 😁
Washington is thinking right now Christopher is so smart
Good questions. Interviewers can learn a lot from you. 😀
why are the audio channels split?
Nice
Seriously someone needs to interview Jake, Kevin McCarty and Chris Van Vliet on how to do a great and polite interview! ❤️
Luckily the three of us are all best friends, so we just learn from each other!
John david did an amazing job carrying this movie.
It’s important to note that while Nolan appears normal here, Washington is actually inverted.
2:17
The interview was great but this moment. Man! Let people finish their answers.
I watched this movie yesterday and i had no idea what was going on
How is the image of an object appears to human eye in mirror, is it appears as 3d inverted image of that source
Can anyone explain how the three Kate came?
1-with sator
2-with son
3-in the 10min fight scene
Imagine not knowing who Nolan was and going on his IMDB to see "What else this guy has directed..."
Bruh the audio mixing is rough, Nolan’s audio is entirely in the left ear 😂
I was at the opera shoot and got to sit right next to Nolan. It was like meeting Jesus in person. JDW was incredible, he did all the stunts himself - jumping down from the window, sliding down staircases, etc.
👄
That’s amazing. Did you get to talk to Nolan?
@@leemcqueen500 No unfortunately not. But at one point he was standing right next to me :D
I can't hear first question 's answer.😟
