I have a Sparamet not been used for years, engine will not turn.
Wheel turns freely forwards, but not backwards, so I am not sure if piston is stuck or something in the clutch or transmission.
Any advice welcome.

Hi Chris Have you pulled the spark plug? I've had water build up in an engine that sat outside for many years. That stopped the engine from turning over.I don't see the wheel from stopping the engine as there is a centrifugal clutch. I would think that would stop wheel both ways if the clutch. The carb is easy to pull, I have YT video, I also put the wrong long screw holding the carb. on. It went right into the crank shaft and stopped engine from turning over. Might be why I now have a possible air leak into giving mixture problems.I've not pulled the bike apart any more than that. Let me know how it goes. I'm recovering from knee surgeries so can't kneel down to work on the bike at the moment. Try reaching out to

@stevetinajewell8385 Hi Steve, Yes I have taken plug out, very stiff to undo, and signs of rust on end, so suspected rings might be rusted to cylinder, have put loads of penetrating oil in with cylinder upright.
But the centrifugal clutch should be disengaged, so I don't see while the wheel can't turn backwards freely.
Will investigate further, too cold now outside.

@@chrisboll1515 Hi Chris.Yes, it's getting cold here now. Once the oil soaks in, lets keep our fingers crossed for movement. The starter pull cord cover comes off easily, giving you access to a nut on the fly wheel. This may be a good place to try gently moving the crank.You don't want to break your pull starter. I use a socket on a drill to spin the engine for trouble shooting.Nut does come off, just put back on.
I'd expect the clutch to be free. May be some moisture has seized it. Have you check the transmission oil? The wheel turns forward on the free wheel. Sounds silly but you are not catching the pedal on the stand? This would stop wheel going backwards.Just thinking. Look forward to hearing how you get on.

Yes i have tried to turn the engine using the nut on the crankshaft, it moved slightly, about 30degrees but no more, cannot turn the other way as nut unscrews.
