It’s been a slow start man. Weather has been warm. Only the high mountain lakes have been freezing. My crappie lake finally froze so I’m hitting that next week.
I drove through Park Rapids today and thought about you, TJ. Looking forward to the day we can get on some fish together. One thing I have to say, I definitely passed off the intel on video overlays for live views to Tom Boley and he started using it immediately this past summer when I met him, but I have been toying around with it for 9 months now. I feel like it works most of the time, but I challenge Nick to show cards on where it came out first. Ha, ha, ha! My videos on 48-hours ice camping and burbot on Lake Sakakawea had the overlay 9 months ago. I call Nick's video overlaying from a month ago an idea passed from me to Tom Boley to the fishing world. Ha! :) Have a great Christmas break, TJ. Hope you keep on 'em out there all winter and stay safe. Thanks for the great video to wind down with when I got home from MN.
That’s ironic because I just drove over to Devils lake today otherwise I woulda said stop by! What are you driving through for? That’s funny about the overlay! I did see that in your video now! Great work! All I know is that I didn’t come up with it, but it’s an awesome idea! Hope you had a great Christmas and are finding some safe ice!
Great video TJ! We did really good just a little shallower than Adrian’s most shallow house on the very west side of their houses. We were in about 16 feet of water and that was our best day out of the three. Seemed like people were catching them all over to be honest. Couldn’t really find a very consistent pattern from what everyone was saying.
Appreciate it, Mason! Absolutely! When they start roaming out there everyone can be catching fish. That’s definitely what makes lake of the woods so appealing! Nice work man!
Build and quality is solid! The action is a little more moderate and the rod is a little lighter for my preferences, but for these fish it was good! The spring bobbers are too light for my purposes, but otherwise solid rods!
Great informative video TJ. Keep the videos coming. Wish it would get cold down here in central Iowa. Question for you. What rods are you running for your jigging and dead stick rod? Thanks and good luck
It’s been a brutal year for ice that’s for sure! I was running a 34” M Piscifun rod and a 36” temptation power from iron range custom rods for my dead stick rod.
@@tjsguideservice If trying them in the basement counts then yes. I took out lights and installed a Otter brand light kit too. Sketchy ice where I'm at in S.D.
@@tjsguideservice Picked up a 12v lithium battery and a tray for the battery. I was running the old lights off my Vexilar. Sounds like you or someone you know burned up a set of lights.
I believe this one is the otter lodge! Such a brutal year for ice conditions…. Should be a good time out in the boat for sure! Best of luck man! Looking forward to watching the vid!
Yessir, should get some good content! I figured it would be a crap year for ice, seeing how I bought livescope, a new otter flip, and now the Garmin 943xsv 🤦
That’s why I paid for the roads! Lots of people have jobs related to fishing industry and they are hurting and it’s out of their control, so I do have some sympathy for them!
Saw a video about baro-trauma made by a state DNR. I think they said fish caught in 30' had a 90% death rate. 23' and 90% lived. It's somewhere on youtube. Pretty realistic study
That barotrauma video not good science the Linders/DNR did a huge disservice to MN anglers and all anglers in general. It was very anti technology narrative and the net they used was ridiculous, fish don't swim absolute vertical when trying to return to the bottom. The main thing you can do to practice catch and release it to release your fish back to the water right away. Sorry for random comment TJ not pertaining to this vid, thanks for your content :)
Just some nice walleye🐟
Appreciate it, Nodin!
That double hooks got me 😂
😂 I was laughing pretty good watching it back!
I dig the livescope overlay that you are doing in this video. Awesome edit!
It’s a sweet idea! Definitely stole it from Nick, but looks like it may have originated from Randy!
The walleye whisperer strikes again. Great video TJ. You are the Walter guru.
Appreciate you as always! 👊 Doesn’t necessarily take a walleye whisperer to catch fish on LOW, but I’ll take it! 😉
Another great video sir. Greatly appreciate the tips and also the updates on the ice conditions.
Always appreciate the comment! Glad you enjoyed! Finding any good ice?
Another great "informational" video with ice conditions for LOW and excellent "how to" info.
Appreciate it as always, Mark! Been a crazy year for ice conditions that’s for sure!
Awesome action, wish I was there. Great video
It was incredible action! Appreciate the comment, Steve! 👊
Thanks for the tips TJ!
Appreciate the comment! Glad you enjoyed! 👊
Good bit of tips here in this video. Agree with the glow baits, been working for me lately.
Appreciate the comment, Craig! Glad you’ve been finding some fish!
That sturgeon that came through was sweet! Love the triple up back to back. Nicely done TJ!
It was a big fish! Conditions still okay for you guys? Been brutal around here!

very well spoken! subbed
Some days better than others 😉 appreciate the sub, Kyle!
Another entertaining and informative video! Still waiting to get on the ice in Central NY but this heat wave is killing us!
Appreciate the comment, Brandon! Been a brutal winter for sure. We’ve had lots of houses and vehicles going in in MN so far!
Very informative! Keep it coming!
Glad you enjoyed Greg! Appreciate the comment! 👊
How do you put your livescope overlay in your videos? TIA
It is all done in premier pro by keying in the love livescope footage over top of the camera footage
Fun times
It was a great time! Heading back north?
@@tjsguideservice I decided to wait a couple days. Probably head up tomorrow or Friday to start looking around.
You get nice fish tj

Have you seen the new Otter easy frame release levers? I picked up a set and they are nice.
My dad actually just picked some up! They look super slick! Have you tried them?

@@gregdutton8219 awesome! Be careful not to use too high voltage of a battery with those lights or they can burn out

I would move to some bigger ones bro 😂
What Otter flip is that? Thanks for the ice content, we lost ours😢. I will be in the boat on pool 4 this weekend 💪

Have you heard any new reports of ice thickness in Clearwater bay?
I have not heard any new reports for there, sorry!

Rent a day house if you're so worried about "resorts"... this time of year is used for planting rental houses on the juice spots... that's bunk

Was that the one the Lindner’s did with the MN DNR? Very true and something we definitely need to keep in mind!

Aaron (uncut angling) put out a great video on this today
I also saw uncut anglings video. It’s a bogus study.
Aaron's video is much more believable
Stalk fish keep em all. From buck lake. Billions throw back big female before I take yours.😮
