it was just warm enough to forget your coat; to leave it hanging over the armrest of that tepid, pleather loveseat that won't warm unless you let your body curl in on itself and cocoon in its own softness for longer than you'd like to be cold. it was just warm enough to not be cold enough for a coat like that, a coat so obnoxiously warm. now, on your miserable, self-pitying slog back home, it's all you can think about. the cold. even when the wind only bites at the empty streets above you while you wait for the train to come, you feel hollow, like a shell, an echo chamber for the frigid sighs of lonely drunks like you.
and then the train comes, and you wonder why the hairs on your arms aren't goosebumped by kisses upon kisses of icy little snowflakes, and then the stains on your skin find home in the tight knits of your loosely woven fabric with the One Final Cold that is the train screeching in.
you don't even cover your ears anymore.
and then you finally get home, but not even that makes you safe. it's the kind of bitter, cold-in-the-centre frost that nothing can thaw just right.
i love how you throw us toward places we didn't know we needed to go with your music; there's nothing quite like being able to hear so much moody conglomerate bullshit coming from up down left right and in and out of you. The build of this song is awesome, too. I feel like a frog in a pot of water that didn't realize you were trying to cook it until it was too late.

so my mum is freezing her arse off because its winter and shes got a tiny mini skirt and this man comes up to her and asks her if she’s okay, can he give her a jacket, does she need a drink and guess who it is. fucking paul heaton. basically hitting on my mum?
remember D? yeah, shes drunk. so D is slurring and asking paul if he ‘knows who she is’ and is a walking example of second hand embarrassment, and basically scares him off.
