  • In an interview given on the occasion of the opening of the Berliner Philharmoniker's 2009-10 season Principal Conductor Sir Simon Rattle talks to Claus Spahn, music critic of the German publication "Die Zeit". Main topics are the orchestra's Digital Concert Hall, an innovative video platform opened in January 2009, and the repertoire of the new season. Recorded at the Berlin Philharmonie, 28 August 2009.

    Love this man... But I'm not a fanboy at all!
    I think the digital concert hall is great, but I think the RUclips channel is even better, I love being able to hear snippets of what they are doing, especially for someone like me who really can't afford to be constantly paying to watch the whole things.

    happywandy457,
    this superb man is a really sponsor of music culture. We all have to bear in mind that market requirements rather destroys culture, as "normal" people consume trash rather than refined stuff. Gifted artists shood have more power over public opinion in order to sustain culture in the future.
