The Making of a Birdhouse

- This birdhouse took approximately 100 hrs. to design and build. The wood came from a barn that blew down in a storm. The roof is made of cedar shingles cut down to size. The front deck is also cedar found in the garbage from a construction site. More than 1250 photos were used in this film.

Just wonderful, I have been researching "wood birdhouses plans" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Daniliana Birdfly Babar - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my partner got excellent success with it.

great job on the birdhouse but here's just a little hint on video making. Once you've seen a couple dozen rows of shingles being put on you pretty much figure out how it's done.
Just so the others of us get a say, I loved that he showed the entire process.
Thanks, i used an exterior white glue for the barn boards and brad nails. i used PL300 on the roof, it's an exterior construction adhesive. the interior was screwed and glued.

i cant beleive someone gave 18 thumbs down. wow. this was a very good job. i build stuff all the time in my shop and i can see you took alot of time on this and for someone to give a thumbs down most be dumb asses
+Bison Workshop but i do need to ask. how do you clean out at the end of the season. to keep parasites down
+Bison Workshop the owner put on a sealer (Thompson water seal). There are 4 screws in the roof for removal to clean out the 4 chambers.

Looks great! I've gotten into bird house building and was wondering what tool did you use to make the intricate cuts on the shingles at the ridges and valleys? Also, what tools would you suggest that I get to make building easier.
Use a dremel tool for small minor cutting. I couldn't live without one. Next step up a little heavier duty on the cutting convenient tool would be a rotary tool. I use both when doing these projects

I love & admire ur work & ur creativity! 💟 But I do wish u'd @ least do a "Voice Over" 4 all us "Dummies" who've never done something like this, would like 2 try but have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA where 2 begin. I've made wooden bird houses b4, when I was younger but never anything on this grand a scale. Please! Consider doing talking tutorials?!? Thank u 4 ur inspiration!

There are a few things for building a bird house:
Allow plenty time.
Use ready made boat plans.

What songs did you use for this video?
Have a 1" x 6" pine board for a bird house, Once finished I would like to protect the wood as weather here is nasty. What should use that the birds will not reject. ( For chickadees)
i use boiled linseed oil, it's non toxic. but should be done like once a year

A hundred hours to build ,at about 20 bucks an hour, plus material, tax and shipping. Cost you about $2500.00. Not bad.
